I stay at the Wonder View Hotel when I visit Bar Harbor and eat just about all of my meals in this spectacular restaurant. I've never been disappointed.
Small upscale dining room, quiet and intimate, with views of the water and a creative menu. Also, excellent professional service!
Hidden gem with a creative menu and service that rivals any table cloth restaurants in Portland. Small, intimate dining room with views of the water.
From the moment we were greeted to the time we said goodbye, our dinner was nothing short of amazing! Faith, our server, made sure to educate us about the menus and wines. All suggestions were welcomed! The lobster tacos, and cheese bord were delicious! As well as the gorgeous scallops! But the braised ribs took the front lead! My husband won’t stop talking about them! Complimentary champagne for our anniversary was so nice! We’ve already recommended the restaurant to many friends and look forward to returning ourselves! Thank you for making our 5 year anniversary so memorable! Sea Glass is now a favorite of ours! Good job to the whole team!
Quiet, great service, was able to make food accommodations
Everything was fantastic. The food was delicious and our server was wonderful
I decided to try this restaurant out being new to the area. I’ve seen it on Open Table many times but have never been here to eat. I overheard the waitress that was serving the couple next to us if they were locals? They said yes and she gave them a discount. However when our waitress asked how we were and if we had a good night. I explained to her we didn’t stay there but was new to the area and wanted to try something new out. We did not receive the discount for being locals on our meal.
We came for brunch as we eat out a lot just being the two of us... I love the atmosphere and the food was great. Just not sure why our server wasn’t “all the way there.”
We had the same dish we had the night before. Mushroom Bolognese. A vegan dish. Well it was not near as good as the previous night. The portion was 2/3 the previous night. The sauce was 1/4 what it was. A bit disappointing to say the least.
The food was mostly excellent. In my $55 surf and turf the shrimp were underdone even for a guy who likes his meat rare. Our server was somewhat inattentive compared to the others who were working.
The people that work at the Inn are very warm and service oriented. The food is creative and excellent. The location is unique and fantastic
In town visiting Maine, nice spot for dinner! Next time I would go for brunch or lunch so I can see the view better as it was dark during dinner time
Perfect night out with family!
Not only was everything perfect, but my date was in the spa at the same address, and lost track of time. She was almost an hour late for our reservation. The waitstaff could not have been friendlier or more understanding. Absolutely stellar service. The food was delicious as well, the ambiance is lovely, and it is quiet enough to have a conversation at conversation level, unlike many other local high-end restaurants. Highly recommend it if you want terrific food, don't want to have to shout over the blowhard at the next table, and are looking for some of the best service in greater Portland.
Another wonderful meal at Sea Glass!
We have spent 4 days at the Inn by the Sea and have enjoyed 3 breakfasts and 2 dinners at Sea Glass. Everything is right - service, food, staff. We highly recommend this place!
Friendly and awesome service.
Such a great venue with wonderful food. Just a great memory !!!
Excellent food, although a little overpriced. Great ambiance, very good value overall. Lobster tacos & signature burger are terrific.
The location is stunning. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating. The dogs are lots of fun - great that so many are adopted. Friends of ours took one home. We mostly come for Sunday brunch in the winter. My wife loves the Eggs Benedict. We often meet our friends there as we did yesterday - by accident. Staff seamlessly relocated us so we could sit together. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which was not great - only time the food has ever disappointed.
We were pleasantly surprised, after a disappointment at another place down in Ogunquit. The restaurant is comfortable and attractive, with a view over a field and out to the sea. It's in a big hotel, but it's not stuffy. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. The bartender was very knowledgeable and he had a nice selection of Maine-made products. We'll be back.
We stayed 2 nights at the Inn by the Sea. We ate in the Sea Glass restaurant for 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner. The food was excellent, as was the service and ambiance. We got room service from this restaurant on an afternoon and evening with a n'oreaster. We had their lobster tacos and salads for lunch and 3 entrees for dinner! The food was as good as if we were in the restaurant.
Really nice atmosphere. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Food was awesome.
We stayed at Inn we had a great dinner and next morni g we enjoyed a nice breakfast.
Wanted a quiet place for brunch and Sea Glass fit the bill perfectly. The food was great as was the service. Couldn’t ask for better
Lovely restaurant . Very good food and beautiful view .Very charming servers!
Great ambiance and interesting, seasonal flavors. Restaurant was a pleaser for all three generations we dined with at our family dinner!
All was great, especially our server. My one recommendation would be do not read the "specials" to a diner. Rather, know them without resorting to a piece f paper.
Very nice place, good food, excellent service. The view from outside is magnificent. Highly recommend!
We thought the outdoor patio was lovely, the service very good, the ambiance of a sea view delightful. Our lunch was nicely presented and quite tasty. But oh, how could they possibly charge $32 for a lobster roll? We were shocked when the bill arrived. $22 might have been acceptable, but we felt very taken advantage of! Perhaps the server should have cited the price when we ordered the market price listed lobster roll? Perhaps the restaurant should rethink the pricing so as not to leave a negative thought about what was a lovely lunch!
Young child screaming it’s head off. Mom should have taken her out but instead they stayed and made it awful for all the guests. Food was good but over priced.
Waitress greeted us then disappeared for 20 minutes. She was clearly busy but 20 minutes without even the offer of a cocktail or glass of wine was too long. She also knew nothing about the wines (for which the restaurant received a Wine Spectator award. Wine director was nowhere to be found. Entrees tended to be on the expensive side compared to similar restaurants ($58 for butter-poached lobster seemed a bit extreme) We had scallops that came with a split half-ear of charred corn on the cob, which was exceedingly hard to eat without getting it all over ourselves since the half-ear had been placed in the sauce. Scallops were perfectly cooked and other than the corn, were well accompanied. Wine list is great (it's why we came), but the white Graves we ordered was served so cold that it was impossible to enjoy it until it'd sat on the table for 15 minutes (after which it was excellent!) This is inexcusable for a restaurant boasting a Wine Spectator award.
Beautiful ambiance, good food but limited menu choices
Our favorite Anniversary spot. We love starting in the cozy seating in the bar area with a fun drink. For dinner this year we had lobster tacos for our appetizer and continued with butter poached lobster, delicious!
Sea Glass has one outstanding feature: visual appeal. We sat outdoors and the view was wonderful. The immediate surroundings were well kept and attractive, too. Food and service were not as good as one would expect—particularly at this premium price. The server seemed not well trained and somewhat disorganized, although he and other staff were friendly. Some of the food was decent; I had a goat-cheese salad which had plenty of fresh greens although very little cheese. Although they did have a vegan dish which two in our party ordered, it was very oily and not good on flavor. At these prices we expected fine seasonings, ample fresh herbs, and other touches. I recommend this because on a special occasion with good weather, the aesthetic experience of their al fresco dining is possibly worth the price.
Love this place year-round. Staff is welcoming, food is wonderful and varied.
Have lived relatively close to Sea Glass Restaurant (which is located at Inn By The Sea in Cape Elizabeth) foreve, but hadn’t ever gone. Had a lovely lunch there with a friend today, and was so pleasantly surprised. Can’t ask for better location on beautiful summer day, outdoor seating on a (spacious, uncramped) deck, with views out across the lawn to the ocean beyond. The service was good, and the food (though not extensive menu) was really great. I ended up just going with their house-style burger, which was huge, perfectly prepared and interesting with a csrmelized onion sauce. Really very good. And their fries are worth going there for all by themselves.
Was really an excellent experience, and I’ll certainly be going back again before the summer season winds down. Would highly recommend.
Very limited menu but setting was pretty and wait staff very welcoming
We were happy with the breakfast food, however the dinner food was not very good. Beautiful setting but note that it is kid friendly so not necessarily reommended for a romantic setting. The service was off the weekend we stayed at The Inn, we had about 5 servers and there was an incident between two servers that should have been kept behind the scenes. Overall recommended for families and just a quick breakfast.
Wonderful food, great view and good service. Good for a special occasion or just a night out.
Always a wonderful place to eat and relax. The deck provides a view across the well manicured lawn to the sea.
