We've been to Scrimshaw several times for our anniversary. The food is fantastic, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner.

Our greeting by the Hostess was pleasant and professional as she prepared us for a wonderful
dinner. The atmosphere was quiet and warm. Our server was very pleasant, displayed a good sense of humor and was very attentive. Our cocktails were delicious and we were given a relaxing amount of time to enjoy them. Now the food --- first the presentations were exciting and artistic and secondly
each course was very tastefully and professionally prepared and thirdly our intimate dinner was served timely in a professional manner. We truly enjoyed every aspect of our dinner at Scrimshaw.

The food was delicious. Salmon Wellington is one of my favorites.The service was excellent especially by Pat who always takes good care of us when she is our server.

We enjoyed our dinners although the seafood was a bit overcooked and dry. Piano music, service, seating and hostess were great. We'll plan to return sometime in the future.

My wife and I have eaten at Scrimshaw many times over the years and always had wonderful meals.
That was not the case at our last visit. We ordered the Chateaubriand for two. What a disappointment! Although the meat was cooked beautifully, there was very little in each portion. The fingerling potatoes seemed to be fried. They looked like three short, fat french fries and they were very greasy. The vegetables were tiny carrot balls in a cucumber cup. Looked cute but was not tasty. For $75 for this dinner for two, I expected more.
The other two couples who dined with us like their meals well enough but agreed that the quality was
not what it was on previous visits.

We had Christmas Dinner here with my father as there were limited choices of resturants open. Everyone was very friendly, service was good and food was good. Over all a good experience.

The food was as good as years past, but the service was exceedingly slow. I don't know if it was the fault of the server or the kitchen. I ordered oysters on the half shell right away. The server returned about 15 minutes later and told me they did not have oysters on the half shell. I asked if they had the Oysters Rockefeller. He went to check and returned sometime later to tell me they did...waiting, waiting, waiting...Oysters Rockefeller arrived. So were the Oysters Rockefeller frozen, or maybe the kitchen staff initially didn't want to open the oysters for my half shell order? The Oysters Rockefeller were amazing though. The Filet Mignon was done to perfection and as tender as could be. It took 2.5 hours from start to finish, with no dessert, and there were only about 6 tables occupied.

The dining experience was excellent overall and the food was outstanding. The booking website, however needs work. The earliest on-line reservation was 7pm which considering our 4:30 wake-up call was a bit late. After our arrival we had a cocktail in the bar and inquired with the bartender the possibility of getting a 5:30 reservation. After some checking she told me there were NO reservations for 5:30 and booked us that time slot.

My significant other and I celebrated his new job on November 21st. My, what a wonderful night we had. We were greeted by the friendly hostess/manager who made sure we were comfortable and sat us in the Panel Room. We got to listen to the beautiful pianist while we were taken care of by a wonderful server. We began with a champagne toast, and selected a couple wines off of the extensive wine menu. The food was beyond exceptional. I was especially blown away by the Chateaubriand for Two. At the end, the hostess/manager gave me a beautiful rose, and a little gift bag with Saratoga waters and a 15% off coupon for our next visit! This was our first, but certainly not our last, experience at the Scrimshaw Restaurant at the Desmond in Albany. Highly, highly recommended.
