The food was delicious, however, not worth the terrible service and time it took for the food to come out.
Great presentation of food and great food. Menu has not changed much for a while but is always a great place to go for casual or.l business meetings.
Great food, service was pretty good just needs perhaps more experience. Will go back soon
I’ve been to Scratch a few times and even though the food is really good, the service always knocks my review down. We were a group of 4 for dinner and we were promptly brought water and bread/butter. Our orders were taken promptly too. Once our food was brought to us, we were invisible. Food was delicious, but Water refills? Had to flag down a bus boy and that wasn’t easy. Getting our waiter to box up things to go? He was nowhere to be found. One in our party would have ordered another glass of wine but nobody asked. We finally got him to bring dessert menus and desserts were terrific. But the service has got to improve. It’s really pretty simple
We had brunch here and the food was outstanding. It's definitely one of our new spots in Mountain View.
This restaurant has a great balance in their menu between vegetarian option and non veg options. There is something for everyone. One criticism I would make is that we allowed the waiter to pick a red wine by the glass for one of the people who were with us and when we got the bill, the wine he picked was $20 a glass. We were all shocked at that decision by him and not letting us know ahead of time.
Fantastic business lunch, very easy to have a conversation and the watermelon salad was GREAT!
Loved the fried chicken. Skip the Caesar salad. Keep room for dessert!
In looking for a well-reviewed weekend brunch spot in downtown Mtn View, I came across Scratch and decided to give it try. My companion and I had reservations at Noon on a Sunday, allowing 2 hours before our TheaterWorks play across the street. Upon walking in, you have to walk around the bar to find the maitre 'd. Once there, they found our reservation and we were quickly seated in a mostly open restaurant. There were few patrons, so it was quiet and comfortable until they started seating other diners immediately next to us, although there was plenty of room to leave an empty table between parties. The server did not speak much or make recommendations, but he was polite, quick and efficient. The menu offered good choices for both breakfast and lunch at that hour. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes which were excellent, though I did need to order an extra side. My companion had fish and chips which was delicious. They easily accommodated her request to substitute cocktail sauce for tartar sauce. We lingered at the table with our coffee and espresso since the atmosphere was pleasant and it was easy to talk. I would definitely go back and recommend this spot to friends. It would probably be a busier spot if they had an easier-to-read sign, as the one above the door is quite hard to read (non-descript). Access to free parking is just around the side of the restaurant, accessible by a breezeway. I took the light rail with a short walk from Mountain View station.
Sad... just sad. The food is overpriced, not great quality at all. The restaurant was beat down, with paint chips everywhere. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned, the chairs were in bad quality.
The mussels were so incredibly tiny, it was embarrassing.
For the location where the restaurant is situated, it’s pales in comparison.
Most definitely will not return!
Good for large groups but very noisy.
A little on the pricy side
Really enjoyed our dinner. We had our Mackin Company Christmas party there the year before last and it was great but that was the last time I had ate there. It was lovely to come back and the food and service was excellent. Will have to go back again.
Limited menu. Food was OK. Nice atmosphere. Friendly, efficient staff.
A very pleasant find before a Sunday theatre matinee. The brunch was delicious, well presented, and very courteous, attentive service. I live in San Francisco but will definitely come back again when I am next in the South Bay.
Great happy hour value, even on the weekends. Tasty and generous portions. Might be a little pricey when considering the "comfort food" menu options, but worth it. The servers were attentive and accomodating. Parking was easy and the restaurant wasn't very busy, even for a Saturday night. We enjoyed the quiet ambiance, which allowed for easy conversation. Oysters were fresh, Old Fashioned cocktail was strong and smooth, and short ribs entree was tender and flavorful. We will be back.
Nice ambience. Food is good but pricey for quantity. Service was very slow considering the restaurant was pretty empty.
I have been to Scratch on multiple occasions, and it has never disappointed. The food is excellent; portions are large; service is attentive without being pushy or overbearing. Lunch is a little pricey, but the food and portions are worth it.
The food was well prepared and very tasty. Carlos was a wonderful waiter. It was very noisy due to a larger party.
I usually love Scratch, but this time the experience was a bit disappointing. I understand that it's tough when there's a lot of large parties dining at the same time - there seemed to be a few corporate events happening at the time, but that shouldn't affect the smaller parties with reservations. The service was a little slow and seemed to forget us a lot. We had to wait a long time to order and get our drinks and food.
The food at scratch was quite excellent. We were in the bar table area and service was a little slow. Also, they had changed from weekday happy hour to every day...but no one told us (may have been recent). Online menu not kept up to date, which is unfortunate.
Great service and food! The restaurant is beautiful. Definitely coming back.
The food is fresh and tasty. We had the tropical ceviche, watermelon salad, and salmon, plus 2 lovely cocktails, and all was great.
This was our first visit to Scratch. We were looking for a restaurant in Mountain View with a bar since my husband wants to unwind after a long workweek. When I saw the menu online, it sparked my interest. I love the fact that I could make a reservation online. We were seated in a comfortable booth.
I ordered the scallops and as I don't like asparagus, I asked if I could substitute another vegetable and they made candided carrots instead. The scallops were fresh and cooked perfectly. The carrots were delicious too! My husband's cocktail was good as well. It is a splurge place but I would totally recommend it. The staff was friendly and very attentive!
Good food, good service, but way too noisy, even early evening on a Wednesday.
Great service. Food is a bit on the pricey side but everything we had was quite good. Alcohol, especially wines by the glass, is extremely expensive and brings down the overall value for the buck.
We are semi-regulars at Scratch but invited good friends to join us. They loved everything! Food was great, ambiance was wonderful and service was very attentive. Great wine list too.
Excellent meal, great CA wine options. Will look forward to future business dinners in the future!
Went here for my anniversary with my husband. The food was superb and the ambience was nice and quiet. Loved the craft cocktails, and the waitress’s recommendations were amazing! Will definitely be back for a special occasion.
Loved it! Great quality food and service a little spotty but only because i think our server was new. He was super nice and made everything right. Would def. go again!
Caesar salad was an embarrassment to see with carrots and green beans, bland flavor and a couple of croutons which were chunks of unseasoned stale bread for the outrageous price of $16! The meatloaf was ok but lukewarm. Prices are way too high for cuisine provided. Only good thing about this place was the quiet atmosphere.
Really annoyed Mother’s Day brunch here. Food was creative and delicious. It’s a little expensive but not surprisingly and was reasonable value compared to similar places. Service was good. Style is a little techno/cold but I liked the privacy of the booth we had.
Friendly service! And really delicious shrimp cocktail!
Mouther’s Day brunch with the family. Very enjoyable.
Lovely Mother’s Day brunch with something that everyone loved. Lobster roll, Ceviche, and Cheesesteak Eggs were some of the favorites. Great full bar to keep Mama happy.
If you love French toast made with thick slices of fresh bakery bread stuffed perfectly with light sweet cheese and lightly crusted with almonds this is the place for you. I ate all the hash browns which were crispy and not at all greasy and the Eggs Benedict were also light with just enough sauce. We watched them squeeze the orange juice. We returned there for breakfast because of the food. We wish the environment was a bit cozier. It is a bar / restaurant but the staff are great and for breakfast fine for kids.
Great brunch and service. Food was delicious. Slow on bringing coffee refills, but it was very busy. We will be back.
Food was great and service was very good. Wine prices were outrageous
good menu; clean modern place; good service; food is pretty good.
Always enjoy dinner at Scratch! Their food is fresh, flavors well developed and good size portions.
Husband had the fried chicken and it was absolutely the best. We had a beet salad that was wonderful.
