Food was excellent; service disappeared a lot
We were placed close to a meeting that took away from the overall ambiance of Scott's. I'd go back again, but they need to work on seating when there is an event.
Dinner before a show at the Performing Arts. Location and convenience of parking was great. Enjoyed the dining and we got to the show on time.
Enjoyed brunch. Music was a little too loud and had to raise voice to be heard but musicians did ask and did lower volume. Is it really necessary for waiter to tell us that we had 2-hours at which time they would bring bill!! Seemed rather rude.
Great restaurant - the food was exceptional. We got the special sea bass in addition to 3 seafood plates - each excellent. The service by our waiter, Scott, could not have been better. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants. We will return!
Food was amazing! Excellent service! Couldn’t ask for anything more! Great value!
I enjoyed my lunch very much. I asked for a little variation of what was on the menu and the waiter and kitchen very nicely accommodated me. Bread was fresh and the salad was very crisp and delicious. Ended the meal with a coffee and it was delicious. Will definitely be coming back again.
Went to have dinner before seeing The Jersey Boys. Seating was prompt and the waiter was efficient without us asking. I had the Grilled Petrale Sole Dore, girlfriend had Seafood Salad. Both were excellent. Nice dinner, service and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely will return again.
Nice food and beautyful view
My wife and I loved Scott’s and this visit was for her birthday. As always, the staff was friendly, courteous, professional and wonderfully accommodating.
The Alaskan Halibut rocked!
There was 7 of us, and the waiter was excellent . The patio outside is very nice , just don't care much for the inside ambiance .
Good food and service
Very convenient for theaters
Watching the planes cast shadows was entertaining. The food was delicious. It was relaxed, yet just elegant enough to make it a special time. Great location for a visit to the Symphony afterwards!
The food was delicious and the ambiance was great. I had a salmon dish with stuffed crab, with a mashed vegetable. It was different and the fact that it tasted great will make me return when I'm in the area.
The Cesar salad was about what you would get at a Summer picnic. No presentation like the beet salad. The first round of drinks took 35 minutes to get. Not what you’d expect when your table drops 550 on dinner.
We were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary. We were given a menu with a personalized note on the top! Beautiful detail from Scott’s to do that! We had wonderful service and a lovely dessert with a candle and a congratulations from the staff. We got a nice table away from the groups, quiet table. Food was very nice! Service was great! Thank you for a wonderful experience!!
Our nephew was visiting from Michigan, and had never had a fine dining experience. He was really pleased with the filet mignon in particular, but everything was delicious. We also tried the jumbo prawns wrapped and wontons, the lobster bisque, and the pear salad. We have not been to Scott’s in quite a while and I can’t wait to go back again. There was some live music and it just added to the beautiful ambience of the evening.
Scotties is located on the top of a 6 floor structure (parking lot?) with a nice view of the area. I had The Cioppino which was nice on shellfish - but loaded with swordfish or some other gray fish that was unappetizing. Wines were very overpriced but it is Downtown San Jose! My husband had a prawn dish that was very good....again, this is an ok restaurant if you are in the area and are feeling well off.
Enjoyed Scott’s in SF,Oak and now San Jose...Our guests Were Empressed by the Menu Offering.. We Started with Oysters, Shrimp,Clam Chowder and a Ceasar Salad with strips of Anchovies..
Doesn’t get any better..We ordered Petrale,Cipino and Seafood Medley..
Surely we’ll return..
Wonderful experience and food for mothers day, nice touch of a rose provided to mothers. The only slight discomfort was the dining room being quite COLD for my 94 year old mother.
The lobster bisque soup was too salty and shrimp linguini
Was too spicy for my wife.
Excellent service, and great buffet, good variety. Seafood excellent. This is a rooftop restaurant, and the view was spectacular! The restaurant also validates parking tickets. Oysters had been listed on the menu, but we saw none, so we asked. Turns out, they don't just put them out on the buffet table, but will gladly prepare a large platter of freshly shucked oysters on demand for your table. They were excellent! Noise level was pretty good, but for a table of 8 women who were quite boisterous! Hmmm! They must have decided to treat themselves to a Mother's Day celebration without their families! Each adult female in our party received a beautiful long-stemmed rose, in celebration of Mother's Day.
It really wasn’t much better than a Marriott hotel restaurant. Food was poor and service was iffy. A mistake to go there for an anniversary.
We dined here for the first time in several years and were surprised at how great it was and how much it had improved over the years. We ordered the black Miso cod (cooked to perfection), the petrale sole (also perfect), and the crab stuffed salmon - delicious! Our waiter was attentive and it was a special occasion, so he was sure to please. We will definitely come back here again for another great meal.
Our waiter, Scott was very patient, knowledgeable, and very friendly.
We were so glad our hotel recommended Scott's Seafood to us! Great view, service was perfect, friendly staff, drinks were delicious and reasonably priced, starters, salad, entrees and dessert were extremely tasty, well-presented and hot! Highly recommend Scott's without a doubt! :)
Had a good experience, the waiter didn’t acknowledge us for about 10 minutes, two waiters asked us if we were being helped it didn’t seem very organized and once we did get our waiter he was good but didn’t even introduce himself, it felt like he wasn’t expecting our table even though we made a reservation.. otherwise good food good drinks just not 5 star service whatsoever.
Scott's Seafood is pricy, but the food is good and the portion sizes are just right. I always enjoy their cocktails. All the food I've had is good with the exception of the lobster bisque. The lobster bisque tends to be too thick and floury in my opinion. They put pieces of lobster in it, but I don't like the texture of the bisque. The restaurant validates parking if you park in the garage underneath. I've eaten at Scott's a few times before shows and sometimes you need a reservation.
Be ready to open your wallet to help pay for the "increase in minimum wage & heathcare costs" at 3% of your bill. If you order a bottle of wine (average price $40 up to $300), then there will be a $25 fee to pop the cork. If you split a meal with someone, $2. If you order cake for dessert, $2 cakeage fee for slicing. They do, however, validate parking. This was really a turn off to me. Guess in a way you have to admire them being honest about it? They could have just added to the cost of food?
That being said, I enjoyed the view of the mountains, the food was good (had to add a little salt)...had the special which was halibut over salmon stuffed ravioli (my favorite part) and mushrooms, asparagus, and tomatoes in a white wine reduction. The B52 after dinner coffee was yums. Taking the molten chocolate cake with a side of icecream to go.
Nervous about the soon to be delivered bill!
Have eaten there several times , outdoor seating listening to music and enjoying a fine bottle of wine, great dinner and special person
Scott's is always great and we love seafood, so many creative choices
Outside seating is too noisy. directly under the flight path
Nice setting, decor could use some updates and the menu could be a little more interesting. But overall a pretty good place.
My wife and I thought the resturant was great! We will be back and I would recommend anyone to give it a try!
Meh. I wish I would have listened to the negative reviews. We went for a last horrah on our trip to San Jose and were ready to drop some $$ on really good food and wine. We were expecting something more romantic. The decor was upscale, but the atmosphere and vibe was much more casual than we wanted. Not romantic at all. There were a few good things. I specifically wanted steamed clams and they were good. Nothing special but good. The wine list was good and the service as attentive and friendly. We then couldn’t decide on what to get next, so we decided on the hot sampler. I wish the server would have told us how big it was. It came with crab cakes, calamari and stuffed shrimp. It’s big enough for four people, a little too much for two. Everything was fried (which we love fried food, how can you not) but nothing really stood out. It was just...meh. At that point, we really weren’t impressed and decided to leave. We decided to go back to our hotel and went to the steakhouse there to finish off the dinner. Sorry Scott’s. We were expecting to be blown out of the water, but left underwhelmed with the whole experience. I would not recommend if you are looking for a special, romantic date night.
Another wonderful time. Enjoyable meal and service. Also a quiet place to eat.
This was my second visit on this great location I’m really recommend it for any special occasion .
Started off good. Attentive service, food was a little slow coming, but nothing to complain about and the food was very good. Service dropped off after that. Took a long time to order dessert. Then waited 25 minutes, no dessert, no waitress, finally had to get another server to track her down. We were now running late, so had to quickly get the bill. No time to have them correct it. Paid for the dessert we didn't get and never had the chance to object to the nebulous 3% fee that they charge. Been going to Scott's for years, but based on the inflated bill and poor service I'll go somewhere else from now on.
Service was a bit slower than usual; arrived at 6 p.m. for pre-theatre dinners and got out at 7:45. Had to ask for check. we were finished with our coffee by the time dessert finally arrived 25 minutes after ordering.
Liked the red pepper/carrot soup and like veggie entrees and would love more of these.
