Scott's Seafood - San Jose Ratings and Reviews
Birthday celebration. Good food good service and all guests happy. A little slow in transition from salads and hor’s d’vours to main meal plates but food arrived hot and reassured fir dining. My mashed potatoes, served with chive encrusted trout were cold. Rest of plate was very good.
I chose Scott this time because I had a memorable dinner long time ago, but this time it disappointed me . we spent almost 3 hrs to have our meals served and it was not really what we expected it to be.
It took ridiculously long time to serve our main courses. ...and spoiled our special
Food was really good. The Petrale sole was delicious. The fresh vegetables were cooked perfect. Only suggestion is this came with French fries and I would have expected some gourmet fries but they were just skinny normal fries. It just doesn’t match the rest of the dish. Great location to walk across the street to SJ performing arts building. The dinner included validated parking for the night.
I've been eating at Scott's for over 20 years. It is a great et away from the downtown SJ scene and high enough over teh city to drown out some of teh city noise. The food is always good and teh service professional. Our last dinner was fro Christmas Eve and teh atmosphere was quiet but festive. Our server "Gus" was friendly and on top of her game. I will come again.
My wife and I with my Brother, his wife from out of town. We went on Christmas Eve and they had their full menu. It was quite busy, but the service was still very good. I had sesame crusted Ahi. Very good. Brother's wife had Sea Bass. She liked it. Brother had mix shell fish/seafood. Good. My wife had the special Swordfish. Also good.
Me and my wife has been contemplating to dine at Scott's until we recently retired and we thought celebrating Christmas dinner would be more appropriate to have it here. True to what we always hear we had the best treat from service, food and the ambiance that everyone can expect. We are looking forward for our next visit and might bring along my family with us.
The staff kindly held our table 45 minutes beyond our reservation (though we did call ahead to announce that we would be late). Service was friendly and attentive. Very good wine list, wines were reasonably priced. Our dinner choices (two were specials for that evening) were superb. Salads were ordinary. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience.
I think this was somewhat of a case of me misordering. I got the dry aged prime NY steak medium rare and it came out rare. The waiter who was excellent, noticed right away, and offered to have the kitchen refire the steak. On top of this my mashed potatoes were cold.
While I was waiting for my food to come back, I noticed the adjacent table being served some beautifully plated fish dish and immediately had a case of order envy.
My kid ordered the chicken tenders which reminded me of frozen aisle Swanson chicken tenders that were accompanied with a lay down Sysco type french fry. My kid, being 9, was fine with them but I would have liked to see fresher ingredients being used.
Overall I liked the ambience and the service was spot on. It would have been nice to have my glass of wine comped or something to make amends for the food glitch. Still, I'd like to go back and try their seafood because I have a feeling it's probably what they're known for.
I made a reservation at 9:15pm so I came 30 minutes early but they make me wait, I was fine since we had a reservation for leter on what made me mad was that the restaurant has a lot of empty tables why will they make me wait!!!! Even a couple come with out reservation and they let them go first.
We chose to go to Scott's because it was downtown, has free parking for patrons, easily accessible, great menu choices, lovely ambience, and an upscale restaurant. All 8 of us had a great experience and a wonderful dinner and will definitely return. We were extremely satisfied with the service from the servers at the bar to our waiters at the table.
Everything was done to accommodate our needs and requests which made this a truly great evening!!
Our group was very happy with the decision to go with Scott's for our annual Holiday luncheon. We couldn't have asked for anything easier than Scott's proximity to 87 plus the parking garage directly underneath. I loved watching the faces of first-time visitors who discovered that we would be dining well above the masses. Great food, great company!
Dinner was excellent! Until a couple weeks ago we hadn't dined here in a couple years. They had become inconsistent and we had given up on them. We decided to try them for lunch a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it greatly. Then we thought we'd try dinner tonight. Good call! Food and service were great and we had a wonderful dining experience. Of particular note of greatness was the lobster bisque and the sea bass, though nothing disappointed. Additionally I appreciate when a restaurant has a good selection of 1/2 bottles of wine, since I'm the only one partaking. Nice wine list!
3rd time for brunch and it usually has been pretty good. Our reservation was for 1 and as soon as we arrived the hostess (who wore her winter jacket the whole time we were there) told us they were closing in 1 Hour. Pretty unacceptable given that we were planning on having a nice visit with our friends. The service was mediocre especially since it’s a buffet. The eggs Benedict were overdone as I think they had been cooked at least 30 mins before we arrived. The bill was 200$+ for 4 people. If Scott’s wants to charge that kind of money they need to clean up their act
Our family loves Scott's in general, so husband and I took our office staff out for a nice lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The service was exceptional (it usually is) in handling our party of nine.
Food was very good. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Highly recommend.
We had a very enjoyable meal, and we'll definitely be coming back again. Dinner started with cocktails, and they were expertly made: neither too sweet or bitter, well balanced, and achieving their stated description. A maple Manhattan was very tasty without being overly sweet, a pumpkin spice sangria was delicious beyond expectation (we expected something weird, but it was the surprise hit of the night).
The seafood salad was large with plenty of variety, including Dungeness crab, large prawn, chilled cooked scallops, and more. The petrale sole was perfect with a lemon beurre Blanc.
Being just before Thanksgiving, they also had a turkey plate with cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, and green beans with bacon. The rule of never ordering far from the speciality of the house does not apply here.... It was amazing. The turkey was the most tender and moist I've had.
The service was a little slow, but not to the point of complaint. If anything, it forced us to slow down and enjoy the night.
We had such a good time that we may come back again for the special next Thanksgiving just to have that turkey again.... and probably a few times in between.
We chose Scotts because of the good reviews and because it's walking distance from San Jose Center for Performing Arts. Turns out they also validate parking. The food was delicious. We had the pear & strawberry salad, crab cakes, calamari, and bread pudding. All were delicious. The entire staff there was helpful and friendly. I'll definitely go back again.
