Scott's Seafood on the River Ratings and Reviews
I have always enjoyed Scott’s and selected this venue because of previous visits. Their facilities were ok and the noise level was reasonable. However this visit was very disappointing. We called and made arrangements for our party the day before and request a quite location in the dinning area. We asked for a 5:30. Seating which was honored however it was initially in a ve4y noisy location close the the bar( happy hour not good), after a pleasant request they moved us to a much quieter section of the dinning room. Our server was assigned to our table 10 minutes after we were seated, which was ok since we wanted to visit with our dear friend. Once the server appeared the service was excellent and very attentive! Our meals were served in a very reasonable timeframe just way to much food. I was disappointed with the presentation and the amount of sauce on the sole... it destroyed the meal... What saved the overall meal was the appetizer ( calamari... outstanding... wine list!) . Will I venture back ... maybe but not a Friday night during Happy Hour... to many other good restaurants and this price point..
One of the best seafood restaurants in Sacramento. Very good seafood in a lovely setting. Good service. Some of the appetizers are overly fussy, such as the wild prawns with grilled pineapple. It was actually six delicious prawns on skewers stuck into a huge slap of pineapple, which kept falling over! But my entree, sea bass with brown butter and macadamia nuts, was excellent. My husband had cioppino which he said was wonderful.
We - as well as most of the people sitting near us – were cold. My dad actually wore his coat all night. Even the servers were cold. Also, the shrimp in two different meals was overcooked. Unfortunately, those two factors outweighed everything that was excellent - including our server and the other menu items.
Scott’s Seafood on the River has always been one of our favorites! We feel like family there and always satisfied with the food...I think the bar prices are a bit steep but I would assume you would have to make up for some of the loss on the good food prices..
Taking a walk around the property is such a delight on the water...
Brunch menu is awesome..and Happy Hour and Horadourves are the bomb!! Not to mention nice dinners!!
The waiters are always pleasant and helpful and the buss boy, Dywane is hard working and his dress and manorizims are professional...It would be nice to see him promoted to a waiter or have him train under a waiter...he would be an asset..
We look forward to many more years at Scott’s!
The service was good; The restaurant is outdated and desperately in need of a "make over". It has no class and has a "coffee shop" atmosphere. Some of the staff (especially in the reception area), did not dress in a professional manner so It's not a very good impression when you first walk in. The food is very good (especially the Clam Chowder) however it is overpriced for a place that does not meet any criteria for fine dining except for the prices on the menu. Changes are needed in ambiance and professionalism to justify their current dining prices.
Best part of Scott's Seafood is Happy Hour; excellent prices and great food at happy hour (the battered shrimp are to die for!) and as busy as it was our server was very attentive.
Parking is terrible so unless you pay $10 for valet parking you will need to walk quite a distance.
We will not be returning to Scott's on the River.
The only thing wrong with this location is the parking lot. You have to walk quite a ways to park and then walk back to your car. That is, unless you want to pay $10 for valet and I don't trust valets with my car. I've watched too many 20/20's and 60 Minutes for that!
My friend and I had a girl's, sans Kids and Hubby, breakfast date last weekend and our main reason for choosing Scott's Seafood on the River was so that we could sit outside and see the river and the boats. It was my second visit and it was even better than the first. We shared Creme Brulee French Toast...to die for ❤️ , scrambled eggs and a seasonal berry cup of perfectly riped blueberries with some blackberries and strawberries. A delicious cappuccino rounded it out. Our Server, Scott, made everything even more outstanding. He was just fantastic in all aspects as well as charming and funny. Breakfast at Scott's was just an awesome reason to get up early on a Saturday morning, bundle up and enjoy a beautifully prepared breakfast Al fresco. We caught one of the last weekend to sit outside and we can't wait for April when the patio will be open again for service! Twice now 5 Stars!!
Food was very good and the restraunt looks nice and very clean. However, the service was non existing at most and when our waitress was around you could tell she didnt want to be there. Not my first time there so not going to write off the place becuase of this experinace.
My friends and I are brunch fans. We eat all over town and know what to expect. We happen to not eat pork and I feel like that shouldn’t be such a hurdle when ordering breakfast. I privately asked the server if they had any turkey bacon or chicken sausage. She told me no. Then we look closer at the menu and find a chicken sausage. I was happy she was wrong. We order that dish and then order what looks to be a vegetarian dish called Huevos Rancheros. The server did mention the dish includes chorizo. I’m so thankful for that. Restaurants should be more careful when describing a dish. A menu should include a meat product in its list of ingredients. So my sister tries to order the dish minus the pork and the server made us all feel very uncomfortable for asking. We all felt so uncomfortable we just decided to leave. I’ve never left a restaurant after ordering.
