Didn’t have enough host to serve customers .
We came for a pre - Father's day lunch. Outdoor dining was beautiful, food was delicious and service was great. We all enjoyed our dining experience. Thank you.
Ordered the Fish and chips and it was just flat out bland, no seasoning or salt at all! I was there for my 22nd Anniversary dinner and was looking forward to it and it just ruined my dinner and my appetite! Very regretful that I chose Scott’s for my special dinner! They took it back and offered me something else but my appetite was already ruined!
Sacramento traffic being what it was on a Friday night we ended up being 30 minutes late even though we left Davis 45 minutes before our reservation. We called and let them know and our table was waiting for us when we got there. We sat outside and the food and service were great. The one gentleman that went around and re adjusted umbrellas to make sure the setting sun was not in your eyes was a very nice touch. I would have given them 5 stars but the self parking is rather difficult to use and fills up quickly, requiring you to pay for valet.
Parking was terrible. You shouldn't have to pay $10.00 to park (valet) to eat there. Won't be back.
Always exceeding expectations. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Professionalism is top notch.
Everything was great except the location of our table. Right by the kitchen door. It was our 42nd wedding anniversary and the hostess knew it. I think that she could have done much better if she'd cared. There were lots of empty tables.
All in all it was nice place. Wish they had more signature appetizers, not the normal
ones . Love the outdoor seating. Service was great.
Will go back for sure.
Went for a small family celebration. Our server was wonderful, the outdoor patio was lovely and we all enjoyed our starters and main dishes. They brought a lovely dessert for the guest of honor. Would definitely return here again!
Great terrace seating. Busy but very comfy. We had a very gracious server a d she took good care of us even as she was quite busy.
have eaten there several times. Each time everything was great. We will be eating their again soon.
We always enjoy Scott's!
We had 6:30 reservations and didn't get seated until 7pm, so our night started out BAD. Many empty tables so didn't understand the wait?
The food tasted good. It was warm, not hot - as if it had sat around before being served. Heavy salad dressing on the Caesar salad. Our server was very good and attentive and friendly.
The parking was a nightmare. The regular lot was full - but no sign to indicate that. There were six cars driving down to the lot only to find no spaces available. We each had to back up and turn around and go around to the front for valet parking. No other choice except to exit the property and park on the street and then walk up the hill to the hotel/restaurant. The second small lot was closed because there were three parties going on. The hotel/restaurant needs to address the parking situation. The least they could have done was place a sign letting customers know the parking lots were full/closed and that valet was the only option. Not a good sign of hospitality.
I was disappointed in the French Onion Soup. I ordered a cup and just basically got a salty broth, no melted cheese. And in my online reservation I noted that we would be celebrating a birthday. With no acknowledgement from the waitress, the birthday person inquired as to whether Scott's still offers a complimentary birthday dessert. With no fanfare was given a cup of sorbet to share. (Since I've celebrated birthdays there in the past and received a lit candle with ice cream, if this is the new norm, I may celebrate occasions elsewhere).
Everything was perfect Food was 5 stars. Server was great. Only thing is that we went for my husbands birthday. I put a request on open table and let server know and they never came by. And there were s lot of birthdays they acknowledged that evening
Good place for brunch in the outskirts of downtown Sacramento.
More "lunch-oriented", though
Service and food were outstanding. View's of the river were obstructed by an event tent, yet the ambiance is nice and the views are still appealing.
Would recommend for a Sunday breakfast/Brunch.
The food was poor. The service was OK. The ambiance was middling.
We had a wonderful dinner with drinks and appetizer first. When we arrived (with reservations), the hostess attempted to seat us quickly. But.....the phone rang, a host answered and we waited......then Johnna, the manager huddled with the two hosts and we were left standing. The darling hostess tried to get out of the huddle to seat us; but the manager, aforementioned Johnna, wouldn’t budge! Finally I said.”we’re ready to be seated! The hostess was so embarrassed and apologized; but we told her that it wasn’t her fault, it was the manager who was rude. Then after dinner, Leslie our server asked if we wanted boxes; we said yes and as she was boxing our food for us, here comes the manager to reach across the table and remove our remaining plates. So rude; so very rude. I know that Scott’s on the River can do better with managers. They have great servers and hosts......get a new manager!
I made a bad entre choice. I asked how the crab salad was and the server said fantastic. It was way less than that and not worth $25! I was ready for a burger after I ate it. Very disappointed.
I have been visiting Scott's for many years and have noticed a decline in their service. Saturday was the worst and I won't be returning. The service was slow the waiter was curt. The waiter disputed a discount I have used many times in the past. The manager eventually cleared it up, but it was disappointing. The food was cold and I'm sure it sat under a light since we waited forever.
My wife and I had attended a theater event downtown which went late. Scott's had no issue with pushing back the reservation from 5 to 5:30. We arrived just ahead of 5:30 and were seated immediately, obviously beating the Sunday dinner rush. Miguel, our server was attentive and friendly. Enjoyed a cocktail and then was served our dinner quite quickly. The food was very nice, swordfish for me, halibut for my wife. Nice rice, and vegetables cooked perfectly. Took a little while for him to pick up the check payment, but otherwise, everything was great.
All my years living in Sacramento and I can’t believe I waited until just recently to check out Scott’s. Made a reservation for a Saturday night at 830pm. We waited about 10 minutes to be sat. We requested outside and were able to be seated right next to the water. There was a wedding going on and they were playing music very loudly, which I actually didn’t mind at all. But some might be bothered by that, even thought I feel as it would be expected during summer.
Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food was very good. I am picky with seafood and my halibut was cooked to perfection. Portions are not very big but I did not leave hungry. Ambience was romantic but not so much that my friend and I felt like we had to whisper as not to disturb people. Fancy but friendly. In sum, I can’t wait to go back.
Nice upscale moderately priced dinner on the river. Will go back. Recommended.
We have had good experiences at Scotts before but this time it was not good. Im not sure if the server was new or if he just didnt care. Also the server in the bar was not friendly at all.
It was a birthday celebration for our Son, wife & 5 year old daughter with my husband & me.
The food was fresh & service was friendly. There was a wedding that night so the food may have taken a little longer than average. All in all, it was a fun dinner for everyone!
Noise was beyond tolerable...should have dined outside on the patio....all else was great as usual
This is a great place to celebrate special occasions. The service was excellent, and they made us feel appreciated as customers. It's also right on the river, so you can't beat The View.
It's on the pricey side, but well worth it.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary with friends. Host staff at the front desk was excellent...smiling, positive attitudes, accommodating. Bar was very busy as usual on Friday night. Get there early on the weekends to ensure that you get good seating & PARKING (they do offer valet)! We sat outside & had drinks while we were waiting for outrtable. Excellent view of the Sac river. Food was excellent as always. I had the filet & scallops. Others had the salmon & macadamia encrusted halibut. All were excellent. The calamari appetizer is among the best in NorCal! Certainly a large portion. Service was excellent.
I loved everything about this place. The food, location, wines and ambiance
Consistently solid food and service. We finally had the seafood tower and it didn't disappoint. Lots of great variety, fresh and tasty. Our son had the Ahi two ways which was also excellent. Specially priced margaritas were a nice touch. Alas, we were too full for dessert!
We've eaten at Scott's many times - always excellent. The waiter was particularly outstanding and knowledgable. Fun time with friends just enjoying food and drinks on a Sunday afternoon.
The food was wonderful, but our male server was confused and seemed preoccupied the entire evening. He kept forgetting to bring things - like our 2nd bottle of wine. He mixed up the salad orders. We had to ask 3 times for bread. There were 3 people in our party - husband, self and quest. We had 2 orders of halibut and 1 order of filet of sole. Server billed for 4 dinners (3 halibut and 1 filet of sole). The manager quickly corrected the bill and gave our birthday guest a complimentary desert, which our server never offered. Another server, who had been kind enough to bring us bread when our server kept forgetting it, brought our birthday guest a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine as well - in honor of her 65th birthday. She apologized for the poor service and advised they had a larger number of people dining outdoors than anticipated, which had impacted the service in the dining room.
Also, wish to note a problem with the reservation process. We had to wait 20 minutes for our reserved table. The hostess steered to the bar to wait until someone could seat us. A server in the bar was visibly upset when we sat there the entire 20 minutes and did not order drinks or appetizers. There was no excuse for failure to promptly seat us at our reserved table as approximately half the tables inside the restaurant were unoccupied during the time we were made to sit in the bar. Many tables inside the dining room remained unoccupied the entire time we were there (about 2.5 hours). So, 5 stars for the food. We gave 2 stars for the service, because the manager and the female server, who finally brought us the bread, were so nice.
Cut the portion size on the Calamari...Too Much or have a half size. Petrale sole was folded over instead of plated in the classic flat method and cooked( sauteed) with a crispy crust that was always the Scott,s signature. Lemon wedge too small.
The food was excellent, service was great (as always), ambiance and setting were perfect (we've been there many times before). If you want a guaranteed nice time, good meal, and excellent service, just book a table at Scott's - you won't be disappointed!
This review is for two happy hours, two breakfasts and two dinners. Having a fine dining restaurant affiliated with the hotel made it a simple choice to dine there. The happy hour prices were said to be some of the best food happy hour prices around. I ordered the oysters at $2 a piece and the tacos. (First night, the shrimp, and second night the crab and avocado off the regular menu.). The fresh oysters were wonderful. My husband like the smoked oysters. The house red was actually delicious, especially paired with the oysters. The crab and avocado tacos lacked flavor. I think they should have had more dressing, or dressing on the side. I used the oyster marinades to doctor it up. Otherwise, it was a great combination of foods that just lacked the dressing. I had the bread pudding which was excellent. At one of the dinners we shared a seafood tower. Great selection and variety. I asked for drawn butter for my crab, and it made it delectable. The steak and scallops were so good, the young man with us ordered it the second night as well. I had a bite of the filet and it was really excellent. Cooked just right, juicy and tender, of course. Breakfast was average, although I did really like their cream of wheat and their bacon. Fruit was not very ripe, and scrambled eggs were fairly tasteless. Better after we put salt and pepper. Service was hit and miss. Slow at first to acknowledge in the bar, but once we connected, the servers each night were friendly and attentive. Dining room service also very good. Going back to the happy hour... 3-7 p.m. Nice!
Came here for the first time on a Monday afternoon with a family member from out of town. I had the cioppino and she had the beer battered prawns. The food was great. Our server was great but it did take a while to get our order and there weren't any refills on the water and bread while we waited. We sat outside and it was very pretty scenery. I'll definitely be back.
A little disappointed overall. Hoping for fine dining but didn’t meet my expectations .
This place is understaffed for Mothers day. Got there 45mins before reservation and seated 20 mins after reservation. Had to ask to service our table. Got seated for buffet 10 min after food service stopped. There were several empty tables/seats all along. My recommendation...go earlier or don't go. Food was soso. Likely better had we been seated earlier.
