Scott's Seafood on the River
With the gentle Delta breezes playing on a summer evening, there is no better dining al fresco in Sacramento. The food, the service, the ambiance all make for an unforgettable experience.
From small, intimate meetings all the way up to a riverside wedding for 200, Scott's catering professionals will plan the perfect event, whether social or business. We take care of every detail from beginning to end.
Our waiter was attentive and informative
Our waitress was superb but she was let down time and again by the kitchen. Between our dinner salads and the arrival our our main entrees almost an hour passed. To top that off they attempted to serve my wife the wrong entree. She has to be gluten free and ordered the poached salmon off the gluten free menu. The waitress put the order in correctly but the kitchen prepared the creole spice salmon that included farro a well know gluten agent. When we said, this was the wrong dish and contained gluten, they took it back to the kitchen and when it came back it was still the wrong salmon dish and they had the gall to say that farro was gluten free. Finally, after the manager arrived the kitchen managed to prepare the correct dish. It arrived about an hour and twenty minutes after we were seated and after I had finished my entire entree because I didn’t want it to be cold. While they decided to comp my wife’s entree, nothing could change the fact that we had a miserable divining experience despite the valiant efforts of our waitress to make up for the shortcomings of the kitchen. It’s a beautiful setting but unfortunately Scott’s Seafood doesn’t rise above mediocre with its food. In the morning, they served coffee that was the weakest I have ever had. It’s too bad because the adjoining Westin Hotel is very nice and there are no other restaurants within miles.
My wife and I visited Scott’s Seafood for our Anniversary. Food was sub par but service was great and unfortunately there was a table celebrating their birthday next to us that was extremely loud and constantly used vulgar language in front of our children. Not the restaurants fault but still a terrible experience. I pwill not be coming back nor recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We encountered troubles with seating, service and food. We consider Scott’s as our go-to for a special occasion or a delicious “just because” evening. Seated in the very back last table, very cold! Waitress was horrible, we have always left feeling like the wait staff is like family, not this time. Ordered two seafood towers and although they are never made the same way, these were extremely sub-par. My Caesar salad had been under a heat lamp or had sat out too long before being served. No bread brought to the table after asking for it twice. My husband had to get up and refill our wine glasses as no wait staff was available. Have never experienced this at Scott’s before, it has always been our favorite place.
The hotel had a wedding reception on the other side of the bike path. The noise from the reception made atmosphere for outside dining a bit less relaxing. Unfortunately, Scott’s had no choice in the location. That said, the food was a bit below that of other Scott’s locations at which we have eaten. Our server was wonderful.
Great place for a special occasion, whether it be a Birthday to Anniversary or just Family. Service is attentive, delivery is prompt, the portions are large and the taste is fantastic. A must go destination for special occasions.
Generally we've had a good meal there however brunch was not a pleasant experience as I had that creme brulee which was a stale roll that was chewy.
Waiter was slow and we had to ask twice for things.
This is the second time we had gone to this location. I ordered a medium filet mignon and my wife had the ahi two ways. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The steak wasn't the best I had ever had. I requested it cooked medium but at best the steak was medium rare and leaning more to the rare side. I am not a fan of rare but I made do and ate around the edges. My dogs loved it when I gave the leftovers to them.
For dessert I got the cookies and cream gelato and my wife had the cheese cake. The gelato was really good and my wife enjoyed her cheese cake.
We were there for our 23rd wedding anniversary and as a gift they gave us a bottle of sparkling wine which was unexpected. All in all, it was a decent meal and I recommend it if you are looking for a upper scale restaurant to celebrate a special occasion.
Great experience, steak was overcooked but they were really quick to make it right.
It was a beautiful day and meal on the patio. Except the wedding tent blocked our view of the River. Which is why we had decided to go there to celebrate my niece’s birthday. We had great service.
The only thing that was a little disconcerting was that were squirrels were climbing all over the vacant tables. We were sitting on the patio....
The food was excellent, the atmosphere was excellent, the wait staff were excellent, the view is excellent, over all this is an excellent restaurant! I forgot to mention that the wines are excellent also
This was my third time to this restaurant. Dinner was overall very good - the food and ambiance was very good. We had reservations but still had to wait for a table. One of our sets of silverware was dirty.
Our waitress was exceptional as was the kitchen. I brought gluten free cupcakes for a birthday celebrate. The cupcakes took a dive in the car. The kitchen put them back together and made them look better than the originals.
Reason for then 4 in service our first
Contact with the reservation desk.
The staff were dismissive and rude giving us a table that looked directly into a dirty door. We asked for another table and were told there were none. Visually there were many window tables. We made the best of an of an off putting introduction
and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and impeccable service.
Our entire dining experience was wonderful. Our only complaint is that they (or the adjoining hotel) erected a large tent for wedding events and it completely blocks the view of the Sacramento River. The River view is what adds greatly to the ambiance of Scotts "on the river". That was the only disappointment of the evening.
The food was outstanding, I had the Macadamia crusted Halibut and it was cooked to perfection and so tasty! My date had the Salmon and he said his was also cooked to perfection and very tasty as well. The only reason I gave 4 stars on atmosphere was the noise level. The bar area was noisy, which is typical, but the noise carried into the dining area (indoors) ad was pretty loud even in the back.
Aside from that, everything was excellent.
We eat at Scott's frequently. This was not our best experience. The clam chowder was too thick. One of the oyster varieties was not fresh. The server, who was beyond nice and polite, forgot multiple items. We will still go back as this was not our usual experience at Scott's Seafood on the River.
Delicious, meals were filling and tasty. Recommended for all occasions
Venue, location, food all top notch.
Service could have been better.
24th Wedding Anniversary
Really nice atmosphere out on the patio. Great service from staff and the food was delicious.
We celebrate a September birthday at Scott's Seafood on the River every year. I have the same complaint every year. We make a reservation but always have to wait 30 minutes or more before we're seated, in spite of the dining room being almost completely empty. This year, we arrived 15 minutes early. I have no problem with not being seated if we arrive early but I told the hostess that if they had a table, we wouldn't mind being seated. She said they were "full" and she would page us. We looked in the dining room and it was about 75% EMPTY but we waited in the bar and had a drink. Our reservation time came and went. I checked back with the hostess 15 minutes after our reservation time. She said that someone would be leaving soon. We waited another 10 minutes and I checked back again, not so happy this time. She said they could seat us. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we were seated at 7:58. When we arrived in the dining room, only 7 tables were occupied. This pretty much describes our experience every year. What is the point of a reservation if we aren't seated for 30 minutes in an almost empty dining room?
All of us noticed that the interior of the restaurant was a little dirty. Windows, doors and handles, floors, some of the counters, even the bathroom needed cleaning when we were there. Beautiful views of the river and our waitress was very attentive.
The shrimp and grits, paired with the Dutton Estate Pinot Noir was a winner! I go back again soon to have this delish combo. And depending on the weather, I'll have to sit outside again...as the weather was almost perfect.
We sat outside on the patio at sunset and had a lovely evening. Our server was personable and helpful. The seafood was quite good. The setting along the riverside was relaxing. Happy hour inside was quite lively and the bar was filled with people enjoying good cocktails.
The evening was a Birthday celebration for a party of four. The service was poor; we had to ask other server’s for items. There was a long delay in seeing our server. I ordered the filet mignon with grilled pawns. I couldn’t see the filet, because it was on top of the lumpy mashed potatoes and green beans, and onions rings on top of it. I would prefer to have the filet separate from the other items. I’ve had dinner here many times and this was my least favorite. My sister had the petrale sole and enjoyed it. The other two had the battered pawns; just ok.
Oh the crab salad for $24 was more lettuce, like a wedge with very little crab.
Did receive a complimentary dessert and bottle of champagne, which was nice.
Scott's is a lovely venue. We were staying at the Westin for one night in route home from Oregon. It was a nice surprise. The fact that it sits right on the river is very special. It is a lovely atmosphere. We had a very good dinner and the service was excellent.
Nice place for eating outside when the weather is good.
My wife and I went to Scott's on Saturday around 3 pm and was given a brunch menu. We asked for a dinner menu and was told dinner began at 3:30 so we told the waiter we'd just order appetizers for now and stall until closer to 3:30 to order entrées. At 3:20 the waiter came back to take our entre orders said we could only choose from the brunch menu. My wife was very hungry at that point and settled for an omelet. I didn't go to a seafood restaurant for eggs so I passed on the entre and on tipping the waiter. I complained to the supervisor on duty who offered to speak with the waiter.
Went for a birthday dinner. Service was efficient without being hovering. Shrimp appetizer was great. The halibut was perfectly cooked. The steak and scallops were wonderfully tender. Desserts were yummy- lemon ricotta cheesecake and berry cobbler. We received a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine as a birthday gift. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
We sometimes forget about Scott's, but should go there more often. The setting on the river is great and the patio is definitely the place to be, weather permitting. The Pacific Rim Salad with either Ahi or Calamari makes for a solid meal and there were more fish entrees on the menu than I remembered from previous visits, which was nice. Kids menu was a substantial fish dinner. We appreciated not being limited to chicken nuggets or mac 'n cheese.
Char Grilled Barramundi : Fish was seasoned well and lovely presentation ✅
Filet Mignon and Grilled Prawns : Filet mignon was tender, grilled prawns was on point. BUT OH, having “brown gravy!” 😋 🎉🎉🎉
It was a very pleasant experience. My only cretic was the parking. Parking lot was far away from the restaurant.
We were seated on the patio. The view was somewhat limited by a party tent set up below the patio level. I am not sure how much of the river we could have seen without the tent there. We did have a very limited view of water and we could see boats in marinas along the river. The service was very good, though our server seemed responsible for the whole patio area. Food was excellent and we enjoyed our time at the resturant. Because we were celebrating a birthday, we did receive a complementary dessert.
Brought Hilo friends for Sunday brunch
Great brunch. Very good menu with many choices. Eggs, omelettes, seafood breakfast dishes, many salads, etc. Also can choose from many items from the dinner menu.
Our dishes were very tasty. I had bacon and eggs, wife and sister in law split the hollandaise dish and my brother had the seafood grilled, open face sandwich. We all enjoyed our choices,
Our server, Kareem, was outstanding. He really took care of us. He has a great personality and made us feel special. He made our day.
This place is an excellent choice for brunch. Give it a try.
We went to Scotts for our 45th anniversary. Our waiter was great. The parking was a hassle.
The whole experience was wonderful. Nikki (hopefully spelled correctly) was very accommodating and pleasant to talk with.
We had a wonderful birthday brunch sitting outside. The service was fabulous and the food was delicious! It was perfect weather, cool and we got to see preparations for a wedding. Our friends enjoyed the whole experience. Our server was attentive and precise. He helped make my friend's birthday special. We have done this several times there and we're never disappointed .
