Online reservation was simple and fast. I left on their voice mail that it was our anniversary that they receive and acted upon. Our waiter, Sean, was absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious. A wonderful experience.
We had reservations Friday for lunch. The six of us were treated like royalty. Waiter had great suggestions and explanations for the food and could even remember the 12 choices for sides. Everyone loved the food and the DESSERT! We will be back.
Our dinner was PHENOMENAL! I was able to cut my steak with a butter knife. Honestly, BEST steak I’ve ever had. Combine that with crazy delicious Gouda grits and a divine espresso mousse... beat meal I’ve eaten in a really long time!
My wife and I have been to Scott’s twice and were very pleased both times. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding! We will be back.
Food and ambiance were magnificent. Chef Scott made us feel welcome with a table visit and fun conversation.
Best meal in a long while! We'll be back!
Second time at Scott’s for dinner. Fantastic food and service.
Divers scallops perfectly done on birthday dinner evening for my wife. Appreciate the birthday discount every year.
The finest dining experience in Gainesville, as usual!
Valentine's Day was our first time visit to Scott's. I am rather thrifty and usually don't visit restaurants in this price range. However, I felt like it was well spent at Scott's. This was a first time attitude for me. We really enjoyed the ambiance, service and food. Scott's exceeded our expectations and we will be going back. Hats off to Scotts for making our evening one we'll remember.
- hostess lied to us about seating upon entering the restaurant.
- food was marginal...filet mignon was literally 1/2 thick
- only positive was server, she did a nice job
We have to be honest. We went to celebrate Valentine's Day lunch and they kindly "fit" us in. We waited 15 minutes to have our waiter come to our table. Numerous times waiters walked by our table; however, no one acknowledged us. So we left.
Early Valentine’s Day celebration was fantastic! A later than normal reservation (8:00 Pm) with a request for an alcove meant we had an almost private, very romantic, time with nearly dedicated wait staff. My wife’s filet and my red snapper were cooked wonderfully. The espresso cake is something I would definitely ask for again. With a couple glasses of wine, 2 entrees and deserts, we were out under expected budget. Recommend highly for North of Atlanta dining.
We came to celebrate Valentines Day, a day early, the 13th at 6:45. Rack of Lamb was tough. Creamed spinach wasn't hot. Grits fine, risotto fine. Waiter was not very attentive, and didn't check on us very often. Food was slow to arrive, even though few were in Resturant. Disappointed since the "Best of Gainesville" so highly recommended you!
Everything was excellent, food, service and friendliness. Our only issue was the loudness of the music...it was a bit louder than background music, but was very nice music. We had to talk louder than usual to hear conversation.
We went on a Thursday for lunch. Sauce for oysters was obviously fixed the day or two before: lackluster and curdled. I had had them before and they were far superior the first time. Shrimp and grits tasted a little off, nothing like the first time I had had those also. Clam chowder was bland with no clams found in it! Overall, very disappointed compared to what I was used to at this restaurant.
Service and Food were outstanding. Will definitely be back.!
Excellent food & service. A hidden jewel in downtown Gainesville.
Service and food were outstanding. Appreciated the owner and chef coming over to greet us and ask how our food tasted. Would definitely dine at this restaurant again, especially for a special occasion!
Excellent food and service as usual. I took my wife to celebrate her birthday
EXCELLENT FOOD, hostess, waitstaff and cook!! Every minute was a delicious, delightful treat! Will be back soon. Highly recommend!!!
As usual, the food was outstanding, the service exceptional, and the overall experience the best in Gainesville!
The food was fantastic and our server was great! The only downside was that the dinning room was very open. For the prices, I would expected a more intimate atmosphere. We were sat at a table right at the front door and it was very drafty. The food and service made up for the atmosphere. If you are looking for a good place for a business dinner...perfect! But if you are looking for a place for a quiet, date night dinner...probably won’t go there again. They also advertised “fine dining” but there was clearly no dress code. My husband and I went for a nice date night, but people were coming in wearing jeans. We are used to fine dining where there is a dress code. We also made a reservation when clearly none was needed. If we go back we will request one of the private alcoves versus sitting out in the middle of everyone.
Our go to place for all special occasions! Never have been disappointed. We are long time customers from back when he was on the Square. So happy to have such a gem in Gainesville.
This was our first time at Scott's but it will not be our last. Staff was wonderful and the service and food were outstanding.
Meal was very good. Bourbon Salmon was perfect, as well as my wife’s steak. Service, not what I would expect from a high-end restaurant. Didn’t like the service change of 20% added to check. Most unusual for a party of 2. The server did not deserve 20%. Probably will return for a special occasion. All things considered, it was a good experience... not exceptional!
This remains the best place for a quality meal in Gainesville especially for fish and seafood.
It’s become some what of a tradition that whenever my parents come for a visit we go to Scott’s. It’s a little bit of heaven that we found with them and we absolutely love it. Their food is always amazing and the flavors are to die for.
We went for lunch on Friday and had a wonderful experience !!
Food was wonderful and loved the atmosphere! We got one of the private little rooms for two!
Ambiance and the service provided by our waiter was wonderful. However, we waited about 10-15 minutes for our bar drinks. The two that I had were not made very well. After dinner we made our way back to the lounge for a drink, and our experience was the same. The bartender was texting on her phone, and the drink tasted horribly. I would recommend the dining room and the food menu, but the bar needs some help!
Good food nice atmosphere
Go. You will not be disappointed! Service is the best. Food and menu outstanding.
Scott's Downtown has the most amazing food. It is perfect for a romantic dinner or just upscale dinning with friends or business associates. I highly recommend Scott's for their food, atmosphere, and knowledgeable/friendly staff.
The food was delicious, the restaurant is decorated beautifully! The service was good, they were very busy. Everyone in our group loved the entire experience! Thanks for a memorable evening!
Food was fabulous as usual and even though it was packed, service was good, and not loud at all. Great place
Although we were right on time for our reservation, we had to wait 10 minutes until the hostess (who was late) arrived.
Every server we had was brand new--and there was a notice on the door when we came in looking to hire new waitstaff--never a good sign.
Even though the wine list is strong, our waitress had no clue about the wines or proper serving.
The meal was very expensive for this level of service.
We decided to give the bar a shot because we had been there before, but once again, everyone was new. We had to ask for a table to be cleaned. It took over 15 minutes to get an espresso because the waitress didn't know how to operate the machine. My second cocktail was improperly mixed and had to be remade.
And...as a "last straw" the owner hoped that the holiday spirit would be sufficient to cover the pitiful service.
No...wait...the "last straw" was when we got home--45 minutes away--to realize that our doggie bag from our $50 each steaks were never brought back to our table.
Not sure what has happened to Scott's, but it has really slipped!
The food and service of this restaurant are excellent. We eat there for our Birthdays and Anniversary celebration every year, and enjoy the great food and service of this restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
This was my 1st time but I will return. It was a great atmosphere and the service was beyond excellent.
Perfect place for our date night dinner out. We love the semiprivate two-person alcove tables. The staff is friendly and professional. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, yet elegant, with excellent food, cocktails, beer and wine. We've been to Scott's several times before and have never been disappointed.
