The food was delicious, the restaurant is decorated beautifully! The service was good, they were very busy. Everyone in our group loved the entire experience! Thanks for a memorable evening!
Food was fabulous as usual and even though it was packed, service was good, and not loud at all. Great place
Although we were right on time for our reservation, we had to wait 10 minutes until the hostess (who was late) arrived.
Every server we had was brand new--and there was a notice on the door when we came in looking to hire new waitstaff--never a good sign.
Even though the wine list is strong, our waitress had no clue about the wines or proper serving.
The meal was very expensive for this level of service.
We decided to give the bar a shot because we had been there before, but once again, everyone was new. We had to ask for a table to be cleaned. It took over 15 minutes to get an espresso because the waitress didn't know how to operate the machine. My second cocktail was improperly mixed and had to be remade.
And...as a "last straw" the owner hoped that the holiday spirit would be sufficient to cover the pitiful service.
No...wait...the "last straw" was when we got home--45 minutes away--to realize that our doggie bag from our $50 each steaks were never brought back to our table.
Not sure what has happened to Scott's, but it has really slipped!
The food and service of this restaurant are excellent. We eat there for our Birthdays and Anniversary celebration every year, and enjoy the great food and service of this restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
This was my 1st time but I will return. It was a great atmosphere and the service was beyond excellent.
Perfect place for our date night dinner out. We love the semiprivate two-person alcove tables. The staff is friendly and professional. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, yet elegant, with excellent food, cocktails, beer and wine. We've been to Scott's several times before and have never been disappointed.
Scotts is a wonderful place. Perfect for that special dinner. Our food was perfect. Had the braisd beef over pasta with a side of creamed spinach. Excellent. My wife had the vinegar chicken with a tarragan sauce. Also excellent. Wedge salads to start. Very good blue cheese dressing. The wine list is well done and well thought out. Had the Markham merlot. Finished with a complementary chocolate birthday cake. Nice touch. Service was spot on.
This was our first visit and while we really liked the ambiance and the food was good, we waited a very long time for our drinks and then for our salad. It was a Saturday night and they were not crowded. And if you spend close to $100 on a meal, I think the $2 charge to split a salad should be waived.
Took my wife here for her Birthday. Do not regret it one bit. Service and food was incredible.
Scott’s is a most wonderful place! The Bistro is a delightful place for drinks/light meal. The dining area is elegant an so suited to special occasions. The service is impeccable and the food is delicious.
Scott's is consistently great. This time we had Brun as our waiter and he was wonderful. Service is always good and food is exceptional.
Exceptional dining experience...highly recommended!
Always a wonderful experience st Scott’s, no matter the occasion. We remain extremely impressed that Scott takes the time to visit every table.
Our waiter Brun was exceptional! The food was outstanding! It made our anniversary very special. I will definitely be back!
My wife and I had a nice 4 year anniversary at Scott's Downtown. We don't get out too often so I wanted to take her to somewhere with a historic charm. The dinner was excellent!
We were celebrating my mother in law's 90th birthday. We were seated in a private area facing the street without asking, allowing for a great quiet celebration. The service and food were excellent. Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing and intrusive. We will surely dine there again when in Gainesville.
Food was great. Great environment. Live jazz music or piano on Saturday evenings. It's a little pricey but we'll worth it
As always, excellent experience in every measurable category!
First time at Scott’s. Perfect choice for a visit with my sister. Food was excellent. The vegetarian entree was a delight. Could not have had better service. Every need was anticipated but we were not “smothered”. We will definitely return.
We were celebrating two August birthdays. I reserved a table since it was Sat night. I regretted the only options were 5:30 or 8:30 - but took the later time. Good for us it turns out. Not only was out table waiting at 8:10 but it was a prime table in an alcove with plush Queen Ann chairs! We were greeted graciously, our server was excellent, the music was perfect.
The food... YUM! I had a seafood trio of oysters, Mahi, and crab cake. All were very good but the crab cake was one of the best ever. Others in my group went with steaks and were equally impressed.
Always love going to Scott ‘s ! The food is delicious!!
Outstanding food but the evening was ruined due to a waitress in training.
The hostess stepped in and finished serving the meal in a most gracious fashion.
steak / fish combo prepared and presented very nicely. Delicious
Service and staff very attentive.
We took out of town relatives to this wonderful restaurant! We had a room for the five of us and felt like royalty. Our waitress was knowledgeable and efficient. The food was delicious so there was not a morsel left. We ate a variety of seafood, steak, chicken and lamb and all of us were delighted. Thanks, for a great dining experience!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Hands down Gainesville's best.
WENT FOR ANNIVERSARY BUT NO ACT OF THANKS FOR USING YOUR RESTAURANT AKA FREE DRINK OR DESERT CUPCAKE WITH CANDLE????? A LITTLE DIAPPOINTING.... WILL TRY AGAIN THAT WAS FIRST TIME ..........................
Good food and good service! Because this was a business luncheon I asked for a location that was quiet, they accommodated me with one of their alcove rooms.
Usually attend another local restaurant “Poor...” for special occasions.. but the last time we were there....first in and last out! So for this Bday event, we chose Scotts. Our sister from Chicago was very impressed this time and Scott’s is now our favorite. Great ambiance, but even greater food and very special attention by the waitress... 5 STARS!!
Scott even visited our table for our comments....Sweet!
Great place, tried Scotts after a disappointing experience in another restaurant in Gainesville, will be a regular here now.
Outstanding all around!
We enjoyed the calamari. Hubby had the mixed grill. The Mahi and shrimp were overcooked. The crabcake was good. I had the scallops which were very good. I did ask the server if the scallops were bay or diver and she said bay. Luckily they were diver.
This was our five year anniversary dinner and was outstanding. Small side room was perfect for the occasion. Service and food was amazing. The music was a little out of place for the atmosphere. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for an amazing anniversary that we will not forget.
We have never been disappointed with the food. And we appreciate Scott visiting our table each time we’ve dined. We always enjoy our visits to Scott’s
We really liked the food. I had steak and my wife had a fish plate. Both were excellent. They have these very small cubicals that only seat 2. The are off the main dining room but open to the dining room and allow for a more intimate atmosphere with your partner. The owner stopped by our table to make sure everything was OK and provided some interesting history of the restaurant. They had good wine list although we ordered specialty drinks which were excellent. We also had after dinner drinks but they are not listed on the desert menu-you need to ask for the after drink menu.
Every time we come to Scott's, the food is excellent and the service is upstanding.
Seafood and steaks, save room for dessert! A surprise for such fine dining. We've eaten there twice and no one has complained about appetizers, meals, or desserts.
Great spot to celebrate a friend’s special birthday. Wait staff professional, cheerful and attentive without being intrusive. Chose from the bistro menu and delicious. Highly recommend.
Like eating in a warehouse, what else can I say but not very cozy
Having discovered this truly exceptional restaurant just over a year ago after having relocated to GA, my wife and I have returned several times. Scott's Downtown, about an hour's drive from our home, is without a doubt our very favorite restaurant in all of GA for several reasons. Those reasons include the wonderfully prepared and delicious food, of course, and also the overall ambiance, friendly and attentive waitstaff, and certainly Scott, himself, a superior chef and terrific person who makes the time to occasionally walk around his restaurant to personally greet and speak with the customers. Those reading this who have yet to try Scott's Downtown truly owe it to yourselves to do so - - you will be so very glad you did.
Food was very good although it took a while and the dining room was not at all busy. They may have had a large private function.
The server thought he was humorous but in fact it boardered on being rude. He told us to at attention when he gave us the specials and sides as he wasn’t going to repeat the offerings, he was smiling while he said this but it was unnecessary .
