Scotto's Cafe - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Alas, but this is the last review we shall write as dear Scotto's Cafe closed last week. It just doesn't seem fair that the freshest food, friendliest and most helpful staff, and the atmosphere of being "at home" should fall to the greed of out-of-town corporate landlords. As always, our dinner was fresh and wonderful. I am using the memory of their veal parmigiana as a standard of comparison for other Italian restaurants. Already, one has failed the test. So, guys, get together, find another venue, and give Scotto's the rebirth that you so richly deserve.
We dine here often and this was the first time that the food did not meet our expectations. The food was good, but every other time we have dined here, the food was excellent. Bruschetta appetizer tasted bland, like it was missing something. Hopefully this was just an off night and we will dine here again.
Visited Scotto's for dinner on a Saturday evening (5:30 p.m.) - no wait time (had reservations) and restaurant was lightly crowded. Server was pleasant and attentive. Food was tasty - I had the Chicken Scotto and my partner had a salad with grilled/blackened shrimp. Will return.
Scotto’s is a restaurant you can depend on to be consistently good, and will impress any guest you invite to dinner. We chose the Crab Ravioli (sautéed with sundried tomatoes in a vodka cream sauce). After we shared four Ravioli, we asked our server to leave the plate so we could dip the house bread in the leftover cream sauce. The Bruschetta is delicious, and was the perfect portion for us to share. We ordered the “Marylander” (chicken breast sautéed with organic grape tomatoes in a white wine sauce, finished with jumbo lump crabmeat) and the "Special" was four Jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab meat, served with Capellini in a lemon butter sauce. Both entrees were delicious, and we were satisfied consuming half the portion, enabling us to enjoy the rest for lunch the next day. Our server was attentive and each course was timed perfectly. The food was exceptional and obviously fresh and of high quality. We look forward to returning to Scotto’s soon.
Overall, this restaurant provides good food and atmosphere. The only negative from our evening is that we had two waitresses sharing our table. While one of the waitresses was really attentive and on point, the other faltered to a great degree. When the check arrived gratuity was already included which was fine as we had a large table; however it was a shame that the bad waitress was getting the same tip as the good waitress. Be wary of shared tables.
This was only our second time here. Our first time was on 1/20/2016 for our birthday. Food, service, ambiance was top notch. Our 2nd visit was 2/13/16 for V Day. Was not like the same restaurant. Felt rushed, food was cold, server was too busy to see to our needs. Very bright and our table was in the middle of the mess.
Took my significant other there for her birthday on Feb 6. The service was exceptional, albeit the Tables were uncomfortably close. The food was terrific. Had lamb chops with tiny ravioli, a wonderful Caesar Salad, and a dessert -choc. mousse to die for. My date had the veal with proscutto and pasta and was heaven. The wine was terrific and had to buy a bottle for ourselves. Definitely will be back.
We have been eating at Scottos since they opened. Their salads and main dishes are consistently good, with pasta cooked al dente and sauces complementing, not over powering. They readily alter any menu item to one's liking. We stopped reserving for special occasions, when the table cloths disappeared and tee shirts with baseball caps became too common .
So this New Year's Eve, Scotto's offered a shrimp cocktail: 5 plump, juicy fish with a delicious cocktail sauce. (The secret is that you can order this most evenings: it's on the bar menu!) One of us had lobster tail stuffed with imperial crab, a nice way to end the Old Year. The other had a baked mahi-mahi that virtually melted in one's mouth, an equally nice way to end the year. Service was excellent. For starters, I recommend the "Limoncello Italiano," martini made from vodka, limoncello, and lime peel. It's difficult to limit oneself to one, but one of us had to drive afterwards. Happy New Year.
