My first visit and the place was great. Very friendly hostess greeted me at front door and took me to my seat. Was promptly served water and told how to find menu using QR code. The wine list is short and delicious. Food was outstanding. If you are meeting someone who attends St. Louis University, it is a perfect place to have happy hour of dinner. I will be back!
A nice selection of interesting things to eat - some surprises, some old favorites. We always appreciate Frank's thoughtful attention and suggestions.
great experience. Weather allowed al fresco dining. the only issue was brunch doesn’t include toast or biscuit
The eggs Benedict were not good, pretty much a staple at most Sunday brunches. Both eggs were almost hard cooked stage, and the greens plopped on the plate alongside made for a very unattractive presentation.
We enjoyed brunch at The Scottish Arms very much! Traditional Scottish Brunch was outstanding. Loved the bangers and the black pudding. Also can’t go wrong with a nice draft beer. I was disappointed the Scottish Ale was out but the Civil Life Brown Ale was perfect. Brunch; lunch, dinner or just drinks, this pub is one of the best in the STL!
Great food. Great drinks. Great atmosphere. Perfect.
We frequently go to Scottish Arms and find the food reliably good, especially the fish& chips, which is outstanding. The service staff are always very nice and attentive and, since we had a rather early reservation, the restaurant was not at all busy and was pleasantly quiet but not dead.
Very good experience all around. Our server, Daniel, was friendly and took care of us well. The food and drinks were solid, would definitely come back. We came for brunch and it was fairly full but not too noisy. Highlights: the scotch egg was one of the best I’ve had and the fish in the fish and chips was nicely fried.
We two had not been to Scottish Arms before. We were looking to get out of our West County rut. So, with a little research, we made reservations. This is in an old building in St Louis city, old but charming. they have outdoor dining as well as inside. We each had Pork Wellington, like the beef variety, and split a Kale Caesar Salad. The food was very good, the service was prompt, we were escorted to our table promptly at our reservation time. The wine list was mediocre, but cocktails were plentiful. Prices were affordable and moderate.
I have seen Scottish Arms on OpenTable for over a year. I am so sad it has taken me so long to finally eat there. I was impressed with the drinks and the food was amazing. Luckily I was able to taste three amazing dishes while I was there. I had the lamb burger and it was a top 5 I have ever had. The Shepard's Pie and the Bangers and Mash were also incredibly tasty. I would highly recommend Scottish Arms to anyone that wants amazing food and drinks.
I have always loved their Scotch egg and it is still great. Tries the watermelon salad and the lamb flatbread. A delicious meal! So glad they are open again.
Everything was great. Enjoyed the food. If the four of us had not had alcoholic drinks, it would have been a bargain!
Best part of the meal was the monkey bread, mimosa and coffee. I would have gotten 20 orders of this bread if I knew how yummy it was!
Sunday brunch was very much a hustle & bustle, but it’s an Irish spot so I’d you been to a few, that’s nothing new. I didn’t enjoy the rest of the breakfast, but that has everything to do with my picky palette not the food itself.
We will definitely be back to try the dinner selections as we are curious what more this joyous spot has to offer. Plus, one can’t make that delicious of a monkey bread and not have other gems on the menu.
But, the monkey bread is definitely the star of the brunch menu! And their coffee is everything!
The chef is from New Orleans and has made some of the dishes with spices/seasonings from that cuisine. Because of this, we did not like how the sausage and beans tasted. Please go back to the old recipes.
Grear ambiance, great food.
While the atmosphere was cool and the service was very good, the restaurant can be quite loud as the sounds carries a lot in the space. The drinks were good, but the food was just okay.
The cocktails and food were amazing. We had the scotch egg as an appetizer which was delicious. Our entree's were the salmon and the chimichurri steak. Both were cooked to perfection. Staff were knowledgeable, extremely nice & accommodating. Setting up a reservation was easy. I highly recommend.
The food was delicious. We arrived early for our reservations and were seated right away. The atmosphere was perfect for Sunday brunch. The Scottish breakfast was awesome.
Great place with a great bar menu and terrific food.
Love the back patio. Food and service was fantastic.
limited brunch choices, poor service
Great as always!
Great food and service..drinks were good too..........
Great food and drink! Authentic pub food, yes, and much, much more! Our group had the charcuterie board, Mediterranean dinner salad, cauliflower grits and shrimp, salmon and risotto and bangers and mash—all were excellent! Great selection of beers on tap as well as craft cocktails and excellent service. This is a hidden gem, we will be back for sure!
It's a great restaurant! Never disappoints! Will continue to dine at the Scottish Arms. A real St Louis gem.
The food is delicious and unique - definitely something for everyone! We will be back.
The atmosphere was quaint and the service by the assistant manager was excellent.
Friendly covid safe place to eat great food with good friends!
Salmon was raw in the middle. Breading on fish and chips soggy. Wait service slow.
If The Scottish Arms isn’t on your “must try” list, you’re missing out. My fiancé and I enjoyed the atmosphere, our servers assistance, and, of course, the food and drinks. For an appetizer we decided to try out the duck confit flatbread. Hands down delicious. The “flatbread” was dense enough to sustain the richness of the duck while still highlighting the spicy honey and sesame bbq sauce.
My fiancé chose the smoked harissa chicken and loved it! He enjoys most spicy dishes and this definitely brought the heat for him. I decided to have the salmon with the crab cake crumble. The flavors, even with the saffron risotto, stood out on their own, yet everything worked well cohesively on taste and texture. It will be extremely difficult for me to have any other dish when we return!
We did notice a lot of tables enjoying the fish and chips so it will be a must try on another occasion.
I honestly don’t remember their food being as good as it was, but it’s been years since I’ve been. I was blown away at the quality and taste from the brunch menu. It won’t take me as long to return for another visit. Just like other establishments, your wait for food might be increased, but they are doing their best with their staff.
Brunch. Slow service. Chicken steak was over seasoned. Could not eat. Bacon burnt. Irish breakfast ok,, no black pudding as described on menu. Ordered 2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, sausage...it all came out on separate plates. Table of four got crowded with dishes. Over prices. No music on. Will not be going again. Really disappointed. Scotch egg was good.
Fantastic food, drinks, and atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!
Thank you so much for accomodating our dog on the patio! Loved the shrimp and cauliflower grits, as well as the spicy tofu dish! Good steer on the scotch by our waiter. We'll be back!
The grilled salmon with the risotto was ridiculously good. I will definitely come back for that dish very soon.
Great atmosphere, attentive waitress and excellent food made this date night a success!
Food was average. Place could be cleaner. Service was good.
Just ok food. Very informative and friendly server who was quite busy, but other staff helped. Scotch Egg shared for appetizer was good. Salmon entree also very good, lamb entree not so much. Overcooked and just not tasteful. Portion sizes ok. Drinks weren’t that great , bottle of wine was much better and reasonably priced. Dessert also ok. Doubt we would return except to maybe try it for brunch.
Nice Sunday brunch; service was slow, but good food.
We love Scottish Arms! The food, drinks and staff are always amazing. We have yet to find something we don't like
