I LOVE pre-covid brunch at this place. Favorite place for brunch on the city actually. So I checked to see they reopened brunch and when I learned they had, I had to go for my birthday.
I have been craving a Highland Hangover for months. I checked their online menu to make sure it was available and booked a table.
Upon arrival I was handed a menu.... no Highland Hangover. Now I know that since the pandemic we in the restaurant industry have been forced to cut some things out of the menu. Either due to availability or due to staffing restrictions. I was still devastated. Please change your online menu to reflect what you are serving or post it on your social media. I'm sorry we took up a table for a server, they could have had a money making table if I had all the information.
I still love them and I will still be back. The Scottish Arms is amazing. I highly recommend. But, if you have your heart set on something, call first to make sure it's on the menu.
The changes to the menu were not impressive. ‘Captain Crunch’ on the French toast might taste OK, but at the price, it’s not worth the chance. Many of the traditional pub dishes are gone and changes to others are not improvements. The green peppers in the baked beans with the traditional Scottish breakfast seemed too strong and the beans weren’t eaten. To add insult to injury, the food was lukewarm. The Scotch Eggs were good, as always, the staff is always good, and the pub atmosphere is as authentic as it comes this side of the pond. Our issue is primarily the food. A pub should have pub food. Other stuff is OK, but where have all the good pub dishes gone?
Dan was a fantastic server! What a great first visit, can’t wait to come back!
Great food, super service...we continue to come back again and again!
I love the choice of food here. There British offerings are on point.
Excellent dishes for a hearty meal, and lots of small plates that are very well made and flavorful. Really unique and well-made cocktails - appropriate twists on the classics
Excellent food, service, response to ADA accommodation request. Proactive notification about weather complications affecting reservation.
Wonderful Easter brunch!
Outdoor patio seating has great ambience. Excellent service great food. Proper adherence to covid protocols. Highly recommended.
Would not recommend this restaurant. Chicken tikka and lamb gyro were both lacking flavor and not tasty at all. The rice was overcooked. They do not know what a gyro is supposed to taste like. It was just a chunk of lamb inside a pita. Service was just ok. After food was brought to us, it took too long to get our check. It was too bad because the drinks and outdoor atmosphere were nice. Truffle fries were great as well, but we will never return.
Bailey was our server and she remembered us, she was wonderful. Food was fish and chips, one of our all time favorites! Drink was delicious, but too small :)
Good menu reminiscent of our many trips home to Scotland. Great service too!
Great food. Great service. You'll be glad you went.
Scottish arms is consistently great! Wonderful service, delicious cocktails and food, and always a good time!
Service was awful. The woman lacked a personality-treated us as we were keeping her from her idling.
Food was superb as usual - Fisn n' Chips does not get much better.
In the COVID era going to Square2 for reading a menu is a disadvantage to Android Users as it does not work there. Just have to go to the web site in the future to check the complete menu.
Great brunch! Nice patio and service! Food was great definitely recommended.
Lamb was absolutely phenomenal. Easily one of the best meals of my life. Also one of the better Old Fashioned's I've ever had as well. 5 stars!
Coming from upstate NY we love our weekly fish fry, which is haddock. Since cod is the ting here, we have found that only the Scottish Arms has fresh haddock "fish and chips". Not only that but it is available everyday ALL YEAR!!! Not just during Lent. Highly recommended especially with a good Scotch. Cheers!
Brunch food was delicious, our waiter was fabulous, & all reasonably priced. First time at Scottish Arms was great! Would highly recommend.
The staff was friendly and personable, knowledgable of the menu and the area, and receptive and helpful when dealing with food sensitivities. The patio atmosphere was relaxed and warm, with ample space for social distancing.
The food was amazing and the service was superb. This was my fist visit but certainly not my last. I look forward to many more meals at Scottish Arms in the near future.
Walked in on a early dinner reservation. Place was empty. It was my first time and didn’t know if this was a bad sign. We then had a waiter that was new to scotch and he admitted it, as we asked a lot of questions about scotches. He was a good guy in the end. He traded us off with another waiter that was very knowledgeable. After that the night got better and better. We had some excellent food and wonderful whisky. I enjoy scotch and with the name Scottish arms you would think it would be a great place for that, yes it was! I was enjoying my birthday dinner and would recommend this place for any special occasion or a adventurous weekend dinner.
We had a incredible dinner ---Fish & Chips and Bangers & Mash were exceptional
The craft cocktails were well done and balanced
Wife and I love the scottish arms. Frank's is always gives amazing service. Son of erin lol.
The food was fantastic! Drinks were well made and service was perfect. Thank you!
Had a great server and a great meal. Love the vibe here.
Fish was delicious!!
Our server, Daniel, was personable and attentive without being overly pushy, and made suggestions to us as to what we may like and pairing our food with drinks and made the dining experience very enjoyable. Presentation of the meal was perfect as was the quality of the food.
Food was great, prices were right and the service was fantastic. Came for Valentine’s Day. It was my first time. The only thing i would complain about is there was no Bloody Mary var due to covid but that was not specified on the website or open table. I would have not booked this if i would’ve known. ButI would still come back.
It was good. Will go back sometime.
It was a lovely experience at Scottish Arms. I had the vegetable quiche. Good food and atmosphere, so I plan to be back.
Wonderful service, and our server provided thoughtful recommendations. Would like to see a more varied beer list. Those in our party loved the pork tenderloin, lamb, and the fish. My pasta Bolognese (“Great Grandma’s”) was too spicy. Not accustomed to a Bolognese leaving the back of my throat on fire! Overall, we enjoyed our experience but I would order something other than the pasta.
My mother and I went for dinner tonight (1/16) and it was amazing! She had the French Onion Soup and Gyro, I had the Scotch Poached Egg and Lamb Shank! It was delicious! Would recommend!
Always great food and great service. Nothing beats their Shepperd's Pie on a cold evening.
Looking for a good Sunday brunch, we made reservations at Scottish Arms. Wow! Everything was delicious. The Butty sandwich, the Bubble and Squeak...YUM! Unfortunately, they were out of the pork steak. Most go back, SOON.
The food at the Scottish Arms is simply outstanding. The Shepard’s pie is the ultimate comfort food. Loved the duck confit flatbread! And of course, they have an excellent bar selection. This is one that we just keep coming back to because they never disappoint.
The place is the best!
You took a reservation for Sunday brunch- unfortunately, THE RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED! It would have been nice if you had a clue about such minor details.
To be fair, I should have been more familiar with the health department’s rules for re-opening.
The Scottish Arms is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in St. Louis. From the friendly, knowledgeable staff, to the delicious food, and the phenomenal whisk(e)y selection, it is a must-visit!
