Scottadito Osteria Toscana Ratings and Reviews
This our family's go-to place for special events and out-of-town visitors. Whatever your preference--healthy gourmet, comfort food, vegetarian, dairy-free, or wagon wheels with butter--you'll find it here. The front room is cozy with a fireplace in winter, perfect for a date or business meal. The back room overlooks a small indoor garden and is great for groups.
We returned to Scottadito for the umpteenth time (we love it) with a friend who had never been there. She was delighted, and vowed to return often. The staff was terrifically friendly and helpful, giving us the exact table we wanted, joking with us at the bar while making cocktails for us, recommending good dishes, and then letting us alone for our extended conversation. Highlights here are the restaurant-made pastas -- our faves include spinach gnocchetti and pappardelle. But don't forget the salads, especially the Caterina. Specials can be wonderful or not-quite-there, but the regular menu is always outstanding. If you want to converse, get a table near the front -- the attractive back "garden" space can be noisy.
Lunch suggested there as I never dined there before. Has a wonderful prix fixe lunch for $15.
Choose salad or homemade vegan cauliflower, butternut squash, zucchini soup which was delicious but bland, needed salt. Hanger steak with mesculum salad with shaved provolone was superb. Done medium rare as requested, tasty & tender. Salmon with haricot verte & potatoes would have been a second choice & looked amazing at the next table. Good attentive service
While I adore this restaurant for dinner, and Sunday Brunch was good, I have a couple of thoughts. 1. Neither my dining companion or I drink alcohol so, the $25.00 per person price tag was a little steep for our meal. We both had the same thing- Salmon Pastrami with Burrata and heirloom tomatoes on a croissant. The salmon was delicious. The burrata was delicious. The croissant was awful. It reminded me of a supermarket or food truck one. Anyway.... the table bread was and always is delicious so I had a little of that. It is a shame because I love Brunch. There really should be a price without alcohol or la carte options. And.. lose the terrible crosiiant. It almost ruined the meal.
Went for pre concert dinner. Food was amazing, especially the homemade pastas. The staff was attentive and accommodating. The owner was very gracious and even allowed us to sit awhile after dinner with a complimentary cordial as we were early for the nearby concert. Will definitely be back!
I had a late Sunday brunch here with family and was really taken back by the service and the food. Although arriving late we were able to get seated comfortable and immediately. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. I love the pre-fix brunch menu w/ unlimited mimosas for $24.95. I would definitely be back for brunch again.
I cannot think when I last enjoyed service as gracious, warm and professional!. My friend and I are light eaters so we decided to share one appetizer, one salad and one pasta each as a separate course. The waiters elegantly divided each dish for us as if it were the most natural thing in the world. When I asked for a wine recommendation, our server described a wine he liked--it was perfect, exactly as he had described it and the least expensive choice on the menu! Oh, and the food was delicious.
The octopus salad was the highlight! However, some small changes to the food and service would make this a much better restaurant.
eg. the caprese salad - the tomatoes were unripe and cold out of the fridge and the mozzarella was pretty average. Attention to detail is everything, whether you're fine dining or eating at a rustic Italian restaurant.
A great find. We are not from the area, but happend to go in a pinch. So glad we did. Rafaelo the chef happend to be out front because it was in the early side and proposed his recommendations. We had the homemade spinach gnocchi which were excellent and the branzino cooked to perfection. My BF started out with the baked eggs and tomatos whichbisnt exactly a dinner dish but one he was interested in tasting and loved it. We can't wait to return hopefully soon. Thank you chef for and excellent meal.
Having gone here twice before, I was excited to come back for their amazing brunch menu and ambiance. They didn't disappoint! However, the service upon entering was a bit chilly unlike the previous times...the hostess forgot to check me in and the waitstaff didn't communicate to her that I had arrived. It was a little awkward being approached halfway through my meal, three or four mimosas down, but not the biggest deal in the world. Better service would have given it 5 stars!
This a lovely restaurant! The food was amazing; I wanted to take the fresh bread home! The wine was great, as was the price. But really, it was Dino's (our waiter) sense of humor and attentiveness that made the night. He is such a pleasant man, he made us feel like family.
The service is slow here. Hostess is curt. Drinks came after food. A simple appetizer of the day cost as much as a main meal with no warning. We were seated by the kitchen window/bathroom hallway which is least desirable table (except for the round one by the front entrance.) Dessert included for kids meal but not offered up. We've tried a number of times but will no longer go back. Too many other options in the neighborhood.
What a great lunch. Arrived early, actually when they opened. We were welcomed by everyone and were seated at a great table. What I really enjoyed was the fact that we never felt rushed. Our waitperson was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and helped us make the right decisions.
It is really nice having a restaurant of this quality in NY
We've been to the restaurant before and had really enjoyed it, but we were disappointed tonight. Although the food was good the service was terrible. We had to ask the waiter to speak up so we could here the specials. We had to ask multiple times to have the air conditioning turned down as it was freezing. We had to ask for the waiter to bring our bills and credit cards back so we could pay and leave. The food was good but not outstanding, and not enough to offset the experience.
we were a party of six and we all absolutely LOVED this restaurant. Scott the bartender was so nice and we had great conversation with him and the Chef as well!! The cocktails were not only delicious Scott made them look so pretty! The food was so delicious and the prices were great. I've been telling everyone about this place. It was my birthday and it was so cozy and pretty with the door opened, such a gorgeous night out. It was just the best find and I can not wait to go back!!! The entire staff were so friendly, helpful and happy!!!
The food was good as usual, but was disappointed in the mimosas. Seems like something changed since I was last there. Either the quality of champagne was changed or too much juice was used, but it was not the same. Please go back to making the mimosas as you were before.
