Scoogi's Italian Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
We have visited Scoogi's often over the past year but dinner on Good Friday was very bland. The bread was cold (I thought it has been warmed in the past). Crab bisque was not as tasty as it has been in the past. I ordered the Shrimp & Scallops over linguini. The marinara sauce was too tangy and it was sopping! The shrimp & scallops were pretty much swimming. My date's dinner was adequate. I hope this was just a down day and not a preview of things to come.
Service was excellent.
Very nice little Italian restaurant. I've been 3 times for lunch and enjoyed it a lot. It is very nice inside and the food is great! I've been with a small, medium, and very large group and each time they were very accommodating. Overall, a great place to eat!
We went to Scoogi's last week mainly to hear St. Mad band. The band was terrific, but we were also pleased with the food. There is a wide variety of options to please any palate. The food is
prepared well, and the portions will not let anyone leave feeling hungry. The is a nice neighborhood vibe, and it is a very popular eatery.
Arrived on time for reservation however was still forced to wait 25 minutes as they accommodated other patrons that did not have reservations. The majority of those patrons did not have reservations but they walked in and placed their names on a list. One couple arrived literally a few seconds ahead of me and my date and placed their name on the waiting list. Despite the fact that we arrived on time for the reservation that we made 6 hours in advance, we were forced to wait 25 minutes and were only seated after the couple that arrived only seconds before us. Service and food quality were both average. However the disregard for priority seating resulted in a date night getting ruined.
There was a bit of a wait, in spite of our reservations. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time. However, once we were seated our waitress was nice, knowledgeable and helpful.
Appetizers came right on time and our meal folded in an appropriate time after, the meals were hot and delicious!
I would highly recommend this restaurant!!!
The meal overall was good...the bruschetta was tasty but only came with 4 pieces of toast, so my criticism would be a few more pieces of toast would help. They do give you a bread basket, so we used our Italian bread for the rest. We both got pasta dishes which were good, our server was very friendly, and our kids liked their quesadillas and macaroni & cheese (not Kraft, it seemed to have a house cheese blend on it with some pepper, so I'd ask for it without the pepper). We also got dessert, a cannoli and the oreo pie, of which the cannoli was better; the kid's meals came with a scoop of ice cream.
We were pleasantly surprised when the bill came that the kid's meals were removed as on Sunday's kids eat free, so try to go on a Sunday if you have kids. On occasion they've had live music (we've eaten here before), which is always a nice treat too. They take reservations, and we were seated immediately so that was nice.
Definitely give them a chance on your next occasion to dine out!
First time dining here. The restaurant is older and has a nice ambiance. There are three separate areas for dining. We sat in the back room which looked newer and probably added on. As far as the food, we had the Italian Wedding soup which was very bland and the Caesar salad which would have been good but it was filled with the hard hearts of lettuce. Our dinners were very good, I had the Ravioli and Meatballs and my husband had Shrimp and Scallops over linguini. The portions were nice size. Overall, it is a decent restaurant, but nothing special.
So disappointing. Our server was rude and condescending. And I would never return to this restaurant based solely on the waiter. In addition we were a party if 6 and one persons order was not given to the kitchen so everyone else are their hit food and he got his meal well after everyone else was finished. Truly a shame because the food was delicious.
We used to frequent Scoogies on a regular basis but moved out of the area. Now we're back and thought "hey, let's try it again." Made a reservation for Valentine's day and arrived to see an empty restaurant. Had to wait about 5min to be seated. There were only 6 people in the dining room (including my wife and me). We were feeling a bit uncomfortable about that so we decided to leave. I think what turned us off is we have been living in the area for 18 years and moved away for 2 years. Came back and the inside of this neighborhood institution has not changed one bit. Very dark, tables and chairs are old, and everything just looks outdated. I think the neighbors frequent this restaurant because they have been here for so long.
My husband and I come to Scoogis on a regular basis and always enjoy the food. This weekend was no exception. We started with the fried calamari. It was cooked just right, nice and crispy. The three sauces were all delicious. I couldn't decide which I liked the best and kept switching among them. I tried the shrimp scampi and it was excellent. My normal entree choice is something in a red sauce. I love the eggplant parm, the ravioli, the lasagna and the meatballs. I usually get a side of long hots because I love the spicy peppers. My husband loves the pizza!
Our server was very helpful and attentive. Our table was next to a high traffic area - servers and patrons heading to the restrooms - so would ask for a different table as we felt part of the traffic. We were very satisfied with every dish we enjoyed. Plan to bring the rest of the family soon.
We had a reservation and still waited 30 minutes for a table. (They did apologize for the wait) We ordered the calamari (good) chicken parm (lacking sauce) and a pepperoni pizza which the menu claims they are famous for. The pizza was a greasy undercooked mess-we had to ask for paper napkins to soak up some of the grease. We could have had a better (and cheaper) meal at Applebee's.
Started at happy hour at a very busy bar. Was great. Dinner, too, was excellent. During this time of year, it's expected that great, fun places such as Scoogi's would be busy. It was very busy, but everything was done to perfection and the service was with a smile!
So I was already a fan of this family establishment when my wife and I went in for our date night. ANGELA and Amy were incredibly accommodating concerning a mixup in our order, which turned out to be fabulous. For all food italian, this is definitely the place!
28 people for a surprise party in the back room. From planning to execution to the end, everyone was outstanding in making this special event absolutely perfect. Service, food, preparation, and table settings were very upscale and outstanding. Everyone had a great time and it was well worth choosing Scoogi's for a special event. Thank you!
This was our 3rd or 4th visit here and felt that it was good but not great.
The server was nice, but not very attentive and she didn't bring us what we ordered.
The food was tasty and the prices are reasonable. A casual restaurant with decent food and service.
