Scion Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We had brunch here on Saturday, read great reviews regarding their bottomless mimosas and tasty food. When we arrived it was hectic and very loud so we opted to sit outside in the patio area. The hostess said it would be about 60 degrees, I'm from Miami FL so I was freezing with my coat on. Took about 13 min for a server to approach once she did she was pleasant she suggested trying the poinsettia mimosas and the regular both were good and had a fair amount of champagne. I had the crab cake benidict, it was ok. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles and enjoyed it.
New Year's Day Pajama Brunch! Staff was super energetic and upbeat. Their regular brunch menu was being offered and our party of five had a variety of items which were all good. Serving sizes were generous. The dining room was full and most parties had reservations. It was a nice brunch on New Year's Day.
Both the Crab Rueben and the Portobello Panini were tasty but the service was spotty at best. Our waitress forgot to tell us the fruit bar was included with our meals, was difficult to flag down for drink refills and disappeared when it was time to pay the bill. This neighborhood place is cute enough but bring a big dose of patience.
The noise level is very high, and unfortunately on the day we visited, there was a group of VERY LOUD men that kept yelling, laughing to the top of their lungs, clapping, and basically indulging in loud and vulgar behavior.
It did not seem to bother the staff or the management.
I would not recommend this place
We really enjoyed our dinner at Scion tonight. Our host/waiter Gary was super nice and attentive. We didn’t have beer but they had a great selection. All our meals were very good as were the desserts. The dining room was just ok but everything else made up for it.
Disappointing....we went to Scion, once in Silver Spring (which was good), and then to the D.C. location.
Pros - the waitress was pleasant.
Cons - We went for their Happy Hour burger special (D.C. restaurant), and for a place that boasts a large beer lists, the waitress went through a string of beers that weren't available. This is the second time this has happened at Scion. A gentleman who came in shortly after we did was also shocked to ask about the beer list and then given a list of all the items that WEREN'T available. (Not a ringing endorsement, coupled with the fact that the place was nearly empty - and it was 5:30).
When we were ordering dessert, they were also out of 2 of the 5 items. This is a restaurant that is trying to lure people, and a large portion of their incentives are out.
For all this, the bill still was higher than expected. We won't be back.
I made a reservation at 9:15 PM. Apparently this was too late for them for the kitchen it already shut down for 20 minutes before I got there. I suppose I could've notified us via phone, but they did have a great suggestion and they said that we should try Urbana across the street. They were lovely and delicious
I'm not sure why there wasn't a manager on shift or any other wait staff except for one man and a busser whom they both didn't have any experience closing. This young man made a decision to close early and made for a very awkward dining experience. The food was decent but I won't be returning if there isn't good management. I'm disappointed and feel sorry for the individuals who were working under such bizarre circumstances.
We came to Scion to partake in their bottomless brunch option and we were not disappointed. We were a little late to our reservation, but the hostess happily kept a table open for us. The food came out very quickly (before we could even finish our first drinks). We were served by two waitresses, so we were always able to refill our bottomless drink option, which was very much appreciated. The Bloody Mary's were not very strong; however, the Poinsettia option seemed to be a better bang for your buck. The Poinsettia comes in a small carafe, while the Bloody Mary needs to be refilled at the bar each time. I personally ordered the New Orleans Benedict, while my friends both ordered the Healthy Start. We were all satisfied with our meals. The fruit bar was also a nice additional treat. We hung around for an extended period of time after finishing our food without any trouble from the staff - and they continued to refill our drinks, which we obviously loved! Overall, it was good value for our money, but nothing extraordinary. It was a quiet brunch, where we could catch up without excessive noise from other customers or loud party brunch music. I would definitely recommend Scion for a casual, budget friendly brunch.
Best omelette I have ever had - yes, that's right. Absolutely phenomenal food and ambiance. Went for brunch on Sunday with my boyfriend, he got steak and eggs (and loved it) and I ordered a build-your-own omelette with crab meat, feta, spinach, bell peppers, and tomatoes. Not to mention, the self-serve fruit bar (complimentary) is delicious! Wonderful staff, we will definitely be back--- highly recommend!
My experience at Scion was disappointing. It took me 30 minutes just to get a water... a water... and then another 30 minutes to get a mimosa, and it was warm. Also, it was entirely OJ. Just overall disappointing and not worth my money or time. I would get a refund if I could.
Had reservation at 1:45... didn't get seated until 2:30. Did bottomless brunch and our food came out before our first drinks... the bottomless fruit bar was not refilled and skimpy and not that appetizing. This restaurant was way underprepared; it was embarrassing and frustrating.
