My boyfriend and I went with another couple for brunch on Sunday. The food was really good, minus the hair that we found in our app. They were very gracious and offered to make it again, but we had already ordered our meals at that point so they just took it off of the bill. We did the bottomless brunch drinks option and while the drinks were good, it took a VERY long time to get them each time. They may have been understaffed outside. I will definitely be coming back and hope for faster service next time :)
Basic food menu but food was well prepared. Great place for beer and drinks with a large beer/drink menu. Not sure if they have nightly specials for food in addition to the regular menu. If so, none was offered. Good for a quick inexpensive meal or a longer sit down for just bar service.
We eat here every single time we’re in DC, and have since 2009!!! Their Mac n Cheese is to die for, but you cannot make a bad choice! Service is great, outdoor seating is wonderful (you can watch DuPont circle pedestrians & all their adorable dogs!) I have never been disappointed here and recommend it to all my friends!!!
I've been to Scion several times and am never disappointed whether it's for a business lunch, meal with friends, or a fun place to have happy hour. The food is good and the service is great - all the staff are friendly and very welcoming. I heartily recommend this place.
We were in DC on a business trip and found Scion on Open Table; we were not disappointed, it was a great experience!
Generally a very fun brunch experience, with gf and veggie options. However fried potatoes were disappointing, all fried and no potato.
Food was good, but not great. Service was poor, we waited a long time to order, never got drink refills, and part of our order never came despite us asking a few times.
If you come for lunch get the duck ravioli it’s amazing. The atmosphere and calm and quiet. It’s a great spot by DuPont circle overall.
Nice meal. It was loud - we sat outside and there was a lot of noise all around.
Very tasty dishes at reasonable prices. Excellent service early in the evening.
Seemed like our server Tim didn’t want to acknowledge our table at all. He came once to ask us for drinks and we had to ask the hostess to send him to the table when we were ready to order food. Some of our party even went to the bar to order another drink. The bartender was super friendly. Jeremy, seemed to be the bus boy, was very helpful in getting us what we needed as well. We eventually had to flag Tim down for our check as he moved on to another table. Will definitely be staying in the bar area next time.
On vacation and staying next door we thought we would give it a try. The food was super tasty and the patio is great on a nice day.
2 tables seated after us were served before us(we only ordered entrees and both tables had appetizers and entrees), our food took an extremely long time to come from the kitchen and the food itself was just okay. Willing to try again but would hope for better service next time.
Understaffed and dated (bench seating was old and ripping. Staff was ok
Not fancy, but good price & good food in the city!
Service was not great. We felt like an inconvenience. We had to ask if we could order drinks, ask for water refills and had to call server over to us.
The ravioli was amazing and the house wine was good. The steak was heavy with pepper and the sauce was tasty. the only issue we had with this place was the rib eye steak! The steak was very tough and we are not even sure if it was a rib eye. Our server was on a third double shift but the service was outstanding!
This was at least my 3rd time going to Scion for brunch. I am never disappointed. My friend was in town for a visit this time and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
Pretty underwhelming for the price. The quality was about on par with an airport restaurant - by no means the worst meal I’ve had, but not better than something from a university cafeteria. The service was good enough, but not outstanding. I’m honesty a little surprised this place stays in business in the DuPont Circle area given all the high quality brunch restaurants in the area. The ambiance was also underwhelming. It felt like a cheap diner you’d expect in a less urban area.
Went for lunch on a Wednesday. Great food and drinks. Waiter was friendly but took him a while to get to his tables which upset some others. The delay was probably because he was the only one waiting on customers. I wasn't complaining though. Probably should staff 2 waiters/waitresses just in case to prevent the slow up. Overall wonderful experience.
We love this place! We live in Silver Spring and frequent the Scion there on a regular basis for the great food and service and fantastic drinks & beer selection. We happened to be in the Dupont Circle area with visiting family and stopped in. We were not disappointed. We are so happy they are in the area!
The service was good, I wish the food portions were larger. The bottomless mimosas were $15 dollars per person. After 3 rounds your good to go.
Good food. Service was slow and not organized. Twice food for another table was brought to ours.
We had the risotto. Very fresh and full of flavor! A bit disappointed they didn’t have scallops but the shrimp was a good substitute.
Great breakfast options- build your own omelet and sandwiches, lots of room
My friends and I went for a fun brunch to celebrate the warm weather. The host was very accommodating as the number of people in party changed & we requested upon arrival to be seated outside. Incredible service, got our food in a timely manner - and even though it was busy, they kept the bottomless mimosas coming so we never had to think twice.
Our group of five old friends had a fun reunion over dinner st Scion on a Wednesday night. Three of us chose the rockfish with crab as the entre; it was delicious. For dessert, two of us had the tiramisu, which was perfect.
The informal atmosphere and friendly service suited our occasion perfectly. None of us had been to Scion before, but we all said we’d love to come back.
My daughter and I enjoyed our lunch at Scion and will definitely go back soon.
This was a return visit from many years ago and not quite what I remembered it to be. Quality of food has gone downhill—met friends here for dinner and there were two dishes not good. One friend ordered the Salmon and it was over cooked. My husband ordered the Mac ‘nCheese and it was not very tasty. I had the Duck ravioli which was tasty. Waiter was friendly and attentive, but overall food was not worth the $100 we spent for dinner.
Had yet another amazing brunch experience at Scion! The service was great and the food was delicious! We even loved the other customers and made friends with the table next to us! It's always a good vibe at Scion. Can't wait to go back!
Fantastic cocktails and buffalo chicken bacon Mac and cheese! Service was slow and restaurant was noisy, but I really enjoyed it overall.
Loved the food here. The sweet potato nachos were amazing.
We had brunch here on Saturday, read great reviews regarding their bottomless mimosas and tasty food. When we arrived it was hectic and very loud so we opted to sit outside in the patio area. The hostess said it would be about 60 degrees, I'm from Miami FL so I was freezing with my coat on. Took about 13 min for a server to approach once she did she was pleasant she suggested trying the poinsettia mimosas and the regular both were good and had a fair amount of champagne. I had the crab cake benidict, it was ok. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles and enjoyed it.
New Year's Day Pajama Brunch! Staff was super energetic and upbeat. Their regular brunch menu was being offered and our party of five had a variety of items which were all good. Serving sizes were generous. The dining room was full and most parties had reservations. It was a nice brunch on New Year's Day.
The food was wonderful! Perfect for gluten free a celiac needs. Music wasn't really the vibe.
Everything was just blah. My girlfriend ordered the potato nachos and the potatoes were like thin chips. The whole thing left something to be desired.
I ordered the chicken and waffles and was equally unimpressed. Just overall blah blah blah.
Both the Crab Rueben and the Portobello Panini were tasty but the service was spotty at best. Our waitress forgot to tell us the fruit bar was included with our meals, was difficult to flag down for drink refills and disappeared when it was time to pay the bill. This neighborhood place is cute enough but bring a big dose of patience.
Scion never ceases to disappoint me or my guests that I invite to dinner. I've truly enjoyed the opportunity to invite friends to try the amazing selection of food offered at the restaurant.
The noise level is very high, and unfortunately on the day we visited, there was a group of VERY LOUD men that kept yelling, laughing to the top of their lungs, clapping, and basically indulging in loud and vulgar behavior.
It did not seem to bother the staff or the management.
I would not recommend this place
