We went here because we were seeing a show next door. The food was decent and the service was excellent although we were the only ones in there from 6:30-7:30 on a Monday night.
We went at 5:30 but restaurant was closed. Only bar was open. No kitchen!
Food was good. Vegan and vegetarian choices. Pork belly tacos from specials menu was excellent.
Totally friendly and fun service. Great food, good value. Neighborhood go-to spot.
I insisted my poached eggs arrive runny and they arrived as requested. Thank you
we came here bc this was one of the restaurants that was listed as "partnered" with the chicago podcast event, and we were led on to believe in the email from the theater that we'd get some sort of discount by dining with one of these partnered restaurants. we didn't get that, it was for the performers only. next time be more clear in the offer because we definitely would not have dined here if we knew that to be the case. the food was average. the waiter was real nice, but the food was so subpar.
Sorry --- it was a bust !! We allowed 1 1/4 hours before theater (2 blocks away) and the hostess said the ever-responsive NO PROBLEM!! After giving our order, we sat -- and sat -- and sat!! When we had 20 minutes left, we said we would have to leave -- Suddenly they were surprised!!! Our meal was READY -- we didn't have TIME to eat it!!! We horsed-down part of it and left -- and came late to the theater.
The service was great but the food was bad. I ordered the roasted tomato and sausage penne toss. It tasted and looked like frozen TV dinner pasta. The sausage looked bad and tasted even worse. The meat was mushy and odd looking. I can't even remember the last time I didn't finish a meal let alone avoid sausage. To top it off it cost me 12 bucks. I can get the same dish from Noodles and Company, a fast food restaurant, for 8 bucks and it's apsolutely delicious. Otherwise, my dining experience was fine. I will not be returning.
Food was pretty good & there was a quiet ambiance before my husband & I went to a show at Schubas. Their website says you get a free mini-mac when you reserve a table, but the host was quick to seat us as I told her we had a reservation. No one said anything about the mini-mac offer during our dining experience. Our meal was fine & ended up filling us up enough, but I still think it's weird that they would promote something only to not follow through with it.
We headed here after the Cubs rally before my friends were meeting up somewhere else at 3pm. I made the reservation and we walked down Southport. We walked in the door and the hostess told us that they were closing. I told her that we had just made a reservation and she said she would check with her manager and told us that the owner was hungover and wanted to close. This was at 1:30!!! The manager sat us after speaking with the kitchen and a quite a while later the server, who had lost her voice, came to get her order... but we hadn't even yet been given menus! We ordered and did enjoy our food but by the time we finished we were the only people in the restaurant which is seriously uncomfortable. I checked again on their hours and their OpenTable which gave no indication of their closing. Really disappointing experience.
New server was a little green but friendly and helpful
Great food and friendly staff
Would come back again
Great beer selection, best Mac and cheese in the city
We were meeting friends for a brunch before walking down the street to The Athenaeum for a show. This was noon on a Sunday. The weather was nice, so we sat outside - the outside seating is close to the street, but it didn't seem to be a problem. Service was prompt, solicitous, and friendly. We all had breakfast meals- mostly egg dishes. The food didn't take that long to arrive; everything was hot, and there was more than we could finish. (If you order an egg dish that comes with hash browns, "substitute" the fruit bowl: a nice portion of fresh fruit, and we still got the hash browns!) We weren't in any big hurry to leave, and the staff just kept filling our water glasses. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.
Came from Slinger and Milw to see Sister Sparrow . Server needs to value customers time and not trap them at thr table. She was nice and helpful but too casual/slow. She has Blue hair. This can happen when under staffed. Might be a management issue. Overall we enjoyed the place and the band of coarse.
Really good food as well as kid friendly menu. Professional staff.
