Place was nice but the food was not that great for the money they were charging for Valentines Day. Not worth the price at all....
This place was fantastic and a great deal 4 course meal 55 dollars on the water can't beat that. I would definitely come again.
We had a delightful experience at Schafer's. My wife and I met with our son and future daughter-in-law to celebrate their recent engagement. The food was outstanding, the service excellent, and the ambience cozy and quiet. It was our first time at Shafer's and we will certainly be going back.
Restaurant was not open. Setting should be changed with Open Table.
We were seated promptly after checking in, but then had to wait for at least 25 mins before even getting a glass of water. Also enjoyed the fact that several employees stood around arguing about who had our table instead of actually paying us a visit. Someone finally came by with water and chips. Four of the five of us ordered steaks...all of which were too fatty to enjoy. To top it all off, they were kind enough to cancel my reservation on Open Table so that I couldn't get the points!
We made reservations here to have a quick lunch during dickens festival because of the location and the menu - we arrived early and were seated quickly. Our waiter was nice. Took our order promptly..gave us drinks.. and then it when to hell.. Our apps - which was mozzarella sticks/chicken tenders and something else that I cant recall.. Took forever - maybe half an hour..Waiter never checked on us.. when we were seated it was really quite in the restaurant.. Eventually I asked the Manager where out food was around 130 - we had all ordered burgers and grilled cheese.. nothing mind blowing.. around 145 we finally got our food.. again.. never saw waiter again - asked the manager and another waiter and another person to get out checks... close to two hour for burgers is a bit over the top... and we missed a lot with the festival being on a time constraint.
Worst dining experience I have had since I can remember.
Horrible- there was no experience! I made a reservation on Open Table... only to find out that they are CLOSED on Mondays! They should not have availability on open table. Such a waste of time!
The fish tacos were not good. Neither was the mussel and clam appetizer. The best thing we ate was the queso dip.
The only problem was the bar drinks. The bartender looked like a manager and did not know how to make good drinks.
Food was awful. Had the clambake. Clams were tough and chewy. There were 3 shrimp, no potatoes, and 1 thin slice of sausage. The broth tasted awful. Server never checked on us. Do not go to this restaurant, not worth your time or money.
Went there for a quick bite after dropping my son off at the ferry. My mom and I had the lobster roll. It was fantastic. Large pieces of lobster and shrimp. Highly recommend. The french fries however were cold and not very good.
So we made reservations online and I requested a table outside when we got there we were told they don't take reservations outside...thanks for letting us know
We ordered drinks at the bar the bartender was great very nice and made great drinks
We then were seated and our waiter seemed like he knew what he was doing we even joked a bit
He takes our order I ordered Baked Clams and mu Husband clam chowder
They bring us 2 clam chowders and one wasn't warm so we told the waiter to cancel the Clams and we will just have the soup no big deal being the Clams never came
Dinner comes my husband ordered the NY strip and no thin onions on top and he asks the waiter about it he said oh itb
said it was on the menu ? My husband said yes and he was like oh the kitchen didn't do it earlier so I didn't realize
Know your menu! I've waitressed when I was in my twenties ! It's part of the job
Overall the food was EH and just how we were treated by the hostess and our waiter I doubt I would return for food
Food was ok. service was very slow. Will not be back .
The waitress was very nice, professional and courteous. The food was unimpressive and took nearly an hour to come out. This is a touristy joint with flies and sticky tables. OK for late night grub after a night of drinking but not for lunch with the family.
My fiance and I came here for our 1-year engagement anniversary. We were hoping to dine on the rooftop, but unfortunately we had inclement weather. Other than that, we had a good experience. He ordered one of the fish sandwiches (I don't remember which because I'm not into seafood), which he liked. I ordered the herbed grilled chicken, which was delicious! The service was a little slow, and one of the managers had to help out, but I think it was because they were short staffed that night, which is not the waiter's fault. The drinks and food came out in a timely manner, and the staff was polite and friendly. We'd come back again!
The only good thing about this place is the view. The food was average at best. While I know we were a large group, the food came out 30 minutes after our appetizers, and then it came out in dribs and drabs. Although assured that the 1 remaining meal was coming, it arrived after everyone else at the table was finished!! The manager was very nice about it, but it was a disappointing experience.
We were a group of seven. We were celebrating my sons job promotion. I'm so happy we chose Schafers to do so everything was perfect ! The staff was very accommodating especially Dan the manager. He moved us to a table with a beautiful view of the harbor after we requested it. The service was great the food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. I would defiantly dine there again and highly recommend it.
I was not impressed with the food. Felt very rushed by our server, as soon as we were done with dinner he brought over the check with our plates still on the table and he didn't bother asking if we wanted coffee and dessert, which we did.
We have been here before and it was awesome. Today, the service was horrible, the wait staff was rude, and the food wasn't great. We waited over half an hour for a waiter at lunchtime, and finally we had to go get one. We will not go back anytime soon. Would not recommend again.
