Scene Restaurant & Lounge Ratings and Reviews
When first opened, this was definitely a hot spot. The furnishings are worn; the service wasn't spot on or timely and the whole experience was disjointed. My husband received his sushi sampler a good 15 minutes before I received my appetizer and small bite. We tried valiantly to get our server's attention; or any server's attention to bring soy sauce (gasp - why with sushi?). We were able to catch server and request soy sauce when my food came out; so that's 15 minutes with no attention. We booked for convenience before our movie but they truly need to step up the professionalism. We listened to our waiter repeat his life tale to the couple next to us AFTER we'd asked for the ticket so we could get to our movie. Sigh.
We were seated promptly upon arrival, as we had made a reservation earlier that day. We ordered the edamame happy hour appetizer and the Ocean Seven Sushi as a main dish, both of which were good. While the food was good overall, but it is essentially the same menu as it has been for the last 5 years. Therefore, I strongly recommend that the menu be revamped as it is tired and worn out! The service was just average. Our server caught the fact that the kitchen did not put the eel sauce to the side as she delivered it to our table and immediately returned it to correct the order. The real problem is the fact that all the tables and booth seats need to be completely refurbished or replaced. The material on the majority, if not all of the booth seating is cracked/peeling, and will leave residue on whatever you are wearing. The owner/management have certainly NOT invested in maintaining the establishment properly!
We haven't been to Scene in a while bc the service had not been what it used to be since Cinemark took over the Monaco. But we were pleasantly surprised this visit. Our waiter was awesome (wish I could remember his name!). He was very attentive. Food was delicious. Hubby said it is the best burger in town. Glad to have a great experience.
We went on Mother's Day because most of the other restaurants were booked solid. It was fine for our 2 year grandson. The food was ok but the service was really attentive and friendly. Her service overcame any negatives we might have had. Overall, a fair experience.
Almost everything was great for my dinner out with a good friend. However, the seating wasn't ideal. We enjoyed dining upstairs, but the seats themselves were terribly uncomfortable. They were very low to the floor. I'm only 5'4" and I had to cross my feet almost Indian style under the table in order to be in a more comfortable position and not have so much pressure on my knees. I can't imagine how anyone tall would be comfortable in these seats. They need to be replaced.
We went to have dinner prior to a movie and had fries as an appetizer and sushi as our main course. The fries were the best part of our meal. The sushi was beyond sub-par and not worth the $10-15 cost per roll. I recommend for drinks and appetizers, but skip the sushi.
Everything was excellent except our server. She was very nice and had great recommendations but we hardly saw her. She took forever to get our drinks out (alcohol) and never even asked if we needed a refill on our water. She was incredibly nice and seemed professional but very unconcerned with waiting on us. She disappeared to the back for the most part. I could understand if she was waiting on other people but she just wasn't around period. Beyond that this place is excellent.
It was very good, we were there on a Friday night so it was very busy which is fine but it seemed the restaurant was a bit understaffed with their servers, I noticed all of them running their butts off. Our service was good, but I think our server would have been more attentive if she wasn't so over sat. The food was great and we left her a 20% plus tip because she was killing it for all the tables she had.
We were there celebrating my wife's bday. We have been to The Scene many times and have always enjoyed it. This visit was the first time that we had an issue with the service. Our waiter seemed to be a bit "absent minded" - failing to remember several requests (the first for silverware). The atmosphere, food and drinks were great, as always. Based on past experience, I believe that the service issue was a fluke and I'm sure has already been addressed. We will definitely be back soon.
I have been here before so this visit was a let down. I made a reservation for three but when we got there, we were seated upstairs, in the lobby. Not really very special or what I wanted but it was all they had so not sure why reservation was needed. There was just one server for the entire upstairs, and there was a large party (10) he was responsible for. We ordered drinks and food but the drinks tasted funny, sour or bitter. My food was ok in taste but not exactly as stated on the menu but edible. Overall, I would not bother going back.
Service was SLOW and not attentive. Glasses were empty far to long. They brought the sushi and no soy sauce...asked for it ....and waited and waited. There were only three people in my group on a Sunday afternoon. There were only a few other customers in the place. No reason for such poor service.
Dinner & Movie/Movie & Dinner.. Whatever the order, it is met perfectly by the less crowded screening rooms and intimate in building Restaurant. The staff and service is quick, pleasant and accurate. The food is served straight from the kitchen and is delicious, I was impressed by the wine menu. The Scene was recommended to us by a friend that dines there whenever in town and we definitely plan to again in the near future! Great spot!
