Scarlet Oak Tavern
Earls Kitchen + Bar - Boston - Prudential Center
I chose to go here for my 50th birthday and it was such a great choice! Beautiful atmosphere, great food and great company. The waitress was so nice and professional and attentive. I will definitely be coming back. I loved the fireplace when I first walked in to the right and I thought that would be a great place to meet a friend for a cocktail.
The Filet Mignon is unbelievable. The Red wine reduction sauce is to die for. Always friendly staff , nice romantic setting.
Arrived for 7:30 reservations and was told they were running behind and would be 10-15 minutes wait, turned into a 45 minute wait which everyone with reservations said they were waiting, hostess did not handle this situation very well as they kept telling everyone the same wait time which was not true at all. Waitress was very good and food was very good but the beginning of the evening really soured the night
We went here for Valentines Day. Typically love the Scarlett Oak but I felt a little like I was at the 99 this time. LOts of people waiting in the tavern made entrance/exit crowded. Seating was crowded. I appreciate the brown paper table covers for saving water but perhaps something a little more elegant would elevate the experience rather than being utilitarian. I compare Scarlett Oak to Toscas for special occasions but I think Toscas is a better pick for a romantic dinner and Scarlett Oak for everyday dining out.
Our server was wonderful. very attentive.
First of all, our reservations were for 6:30 but we weren’t seated until almost 7. However, once we were seated, our meal and service was excellent. Our waitress, Abby, was wonderful. She was very attentive and pleasant. Dinner was very tasty. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner. The restaurant was crowded, but this showed that it was worth the wait . Noise level was higher than normal but tolerable.
Absolutely loved Scarlet Oak! It was recommended by a friend. We sat at the couch next to the fire and it was so cozy! Extensive wine list and delicious oysters! I would definitely go back next time I’m in the area.
Brunch ham omelette was barely warm when delivered, eggs were dry, just folded over. Disappointing
Everything was perfect from the minute we walked in to the time we left!
We chose the Scarlet Oak for its location and a friend's recommendation, for a lunch with family members. It isn't too far off the highway sort of half-way between all of us. It is a huge old tavern-style restaurant with lots of function rooms as well as a large and interesting dining room. Service was wonderful and attentive without being overbearing. Saturday at 1PM, the parking lot was very full, but there were a number of parties, receptions, going on. Food was good, my daughter and I had the Seared Tuna Salad which was delicious and perfect. My Gluten-free son-in-law enjoyed the Cobb Salad with chicken which looked fresh and excellent. Those who had sandwiches said they were fine. The lunch menu wasn't as large as I had expected for entrees beyond sandwiches and pizza. We will probably choose it again for a treat in that location.
The food and service were outstanding. It was a special occasion being my mother’s 89th birthday and we were well cared for the entire meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Best place in the area by far! Scarlet Oak is always perfect. Their staff is amazing. The food is outstanding. Management is always on top of their game.
We love the Scarlet Oak. Right down the street, awesome food and great atmosphere.
We couldn’t have been more pleased with our table by the fire on the tavern side. We were greeted and seated by a finely dressed gentleman immediately upon requesting the open table that we saw when we entered. Service, food, and ambiance surpassed expectations. I will seek out that same spot every time I can.
For the price the food should be much better. I had a $100 dollar gift certificate so I only had to pay $25 out of pocket, which is why I didn’t care, but I’d be angry if I paid $125 for the quality of food I received. I ordered steak tips cooked medium, but they were well done and dry. Garlic mashed were very plain and the brussel sprouts my wife makes tasted better than this place. It is way over priced for the quality of food you get. I’ve been there three times and each time was disappointing in some way, but we had gift certificates.
Love the place... Always welcoming and accommodating
food it terrific!!
Service was amazing and the food was delicious! We would definitely go again!
The food was spectacular service was impeccable the ambience very nice. The only complaint I have is that I made an 830 reservation and was not seated until 9 o’clock this seems to be the norm whenever I go to this restaurant. I know some people never want to leave the table and that is the reason why .
Great dinner, great service, and great ambiance. Like forward to going back.
Fantastic. The chef came out with something special. Everything was superb. Coming back this weekend I hope.
Our 25$ open table gift card didn’t work. Please let us know how to get our points back. Thank you
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Service was wonderful
Enjoyed a wonderful meal for a birthday celebration. We all ordered steaks that were perfectly cooked and delicious. The manager was very accommodating in adjusting the temperature in the rear dining room for us. Thank you!
We love Scarlet Oak Tavern! We have been there a number of times over the years, for dinner and brunch, and have booked private rooms for special occasions. We always have a fabulous meal and great service.
We hit scarlet oak tavern tonight based on recommendations from this page for an anniversary dinner. Our reservation was 830 and we’re about 15 minutes early so grabbed a drink at the bar. Bartender a bit annoyed as we weren’t seated at the bar and made it known she was unhappy she had to service those of us around the perimeter, but whatever. We were seated a few minutes later and our waiter was wonderful, knowledgeable and his recommendations of specials were on point. Started with the seafood plate which was an assortment of oysters, shrimp, lobster tail and crabmeat on ice. Entrees: I had the cod on a bed of fennel purée, squash and what I believe were fried chick peas and bacon bits. He had the steak, butternut squash flan and baked potatoes. Basically we ate my meal and his will be steak and eggs for breakfast, very generous portions. Dessert: he had chocolate creme brûlée which was good but I prefer it warm, this was cool. I had apple cobbler and cinnamon ice cream, again I prefer warmed, this was not but the flavor was good on both and can’t go wrong with a cup of cappuccino. Perfect for the kind of night I wanted us to have and the bill was more than reasonable for everything we had, actually much less than I anticipated. Overall a great experience.
I went to Scarlet Oak Tavern with a friend to celebrate a birthday, on the recommendation of my husband's Doctors' group who recently had a luncheon meeting there which they enjoyed very much. The attractive old tavern, tastefully decorated for the holidays, was a very pleasant and comfortable setting. The friendly service, creative menu, and delicious food all added up to a very enjoyable birthday lunch. I would definitely recommend the Scarlet Oak Tavern to family and friends.
New Year’s Day
Always a good meal, decorations for the holidays very pretty ;service very good
We made reservations for dinner on New Years Eve. When we did so, we made sure to include the fact that we would be having a person in a wheelchair in our party. When we arrived the hostess decided to sit us all the way back in the dining area. In order to get to the table we had to navigate the entire dining area and even then it required that at least three other parties had to get up in he middle of their meals and move their chairs so we could pass. Our server was fine the rest of the staff not so much.
I have frequented this place many times, maybe due to a busy Sat night but....just less than optimal.
We requested to be seated not at back of restaurant as there are "cold spots" however exactly where we were seated.
Meal: swordfish special, was very thin (almost like they filleted it), never seen anything like it and i have it all the time. Tasted very good but presentation not so good. My friend's bearnaise sauce came cold for her steak.
Restaurant was quite noisy and servers kept dropping things right near us (trays, utensils, etc) was just very noticeable.
They did call me to confirm reservation and to say they could accommodate a later time requested but we decided to keep current one.
Classic New England Tavern, fire on the hearth, warm friendly courteous staff, attention to patrons needs, relaxing atmosphere and attitude, excellent menu, a step above for lunch with friends or a special dinner.
Scarlet Oak Tavern is a fine restaurant with a lively bar at one end. They seem to be especially good with meat dishes (steaks, chops). This is one of our go-to places.
Annual holiday dinner with my wife.
Food was good. Service was fine. My daughter and I were asked to move our seats half way through our meal, though. Literally, as our main dish was coming out, we were asked to switch tables. No compensation was offered...also weird. I did tell the manager when we were leaving and he had no idea and offered us a gift certificate (which we didn’t take) but it was still weird. We would go back though; give it another chance.
the service was good as well as the food! my company from Maine commented on the service and the variety of the menu also the friendliness of the waitress.
Dinner out with friends. Server Stacey was perfect.
Unfortunately 2 out of 4 meals were not good. My friend ordered the Mac and cheese which was not served hot. My meal, haddock in corn & bacon chowder, was missing a main ingredient....the bacon, not so flavorful without it. The server did reheat the Mac & Cheese and brought over some bacon but a bit late into the meal. Cocktails were delicious. Will go back again but very disappointing.
The food and service was excellent. We look forward to returning.
We go to Scarlet Oak @once a week and absolutely love the warm decor and convivial atmosphere - and the food is outstanding!
I love the food here, and our server was great once we sat down. However, having to wait 45min past my dinner reservation time, and in the meantime having to overhear the snarky host & hostess comments about guests frustrated by these delays was a terrible experience, particularly as our party included a young child. And by the way, the excuse that diners are taking longer than expected to wrap up their meals doesn’t fly. It was he holiday season - of course you should assume longer guest meal times. That’s not “not your fault” - that’s either deliberate over-booking or poor/inexperienced management. Thanks to SO’s poor planning we had to cut our birthday celebration short, basically getting a few bites of our dinner in, and then wrapping up to get our child to bed. Thanks for an awful birthday experience.
