Scarlatto Ratings and Reviews
I went to Scarletto with my sisters, nieces and a friend after seeing Book of Mormon (which was great, too!). We were seated immediately by a friendly young lady. Our waitress was very nice and offered suggestions on wine and food! We all enjoyed our dinners. Great atmosphere, very good food and friendly staff. Who could ask for anything more?!
My wife and I went there on a date and it was so loud we could hardly hear each other talk. The wait staff wasn't friendly at all and seemed too busy to take time for us. It was supposed to be an Italian restaurant and my wife ordered spaghetti and meatballs. She only ate a little bit because it tasted terrible I think Ragu would have tasted better. I had vodka sauce and it was very bland and almost like paste. Very disappointed would never recommend this place.
Fantasic food, great ambiance and our waiter could not have been more attentive. We had a nice leisurely dinner, weren't rushed and were very happy. We used this restaurant due to its name and it was fabulous. Had the pumpkin ravioli in sage butter and the pear gorgonzola salad and spouse had the veal saltimbocca. Just wonderful. Waiter even gave us a card for return at their new location in January !
Scarlotto does well what it's supposed to do...move large numbers of people in and out in time to make their theater reservations. The service is prompt, if brusque. Our food (I had halibut, she had pasta and meatballs) was adequate: fish and meat were overcooked, the asparagus was liimp and soggy, but the profiteroles for dessert were very good. With two glasses of wine, we spent $100.
We went for pre-fixe pre theatre seated at 5:40 We ordered at 5:45
We got salads about 6:00 nothing after that
I asked at 6:20 told waiter we had a 7 pm curtain
He stated they were busy
6:45 nothing, I told them we had to leave. Manager gave up a bill for ala carte salads at $36.00
I refused to pay and offered a portion of the prefixe. Manager sai he was calling police.
I wasn't corteous and wasn't awful but I tossed the cash at the manager my error which I apologized for. Manager followed us outside and physically accosted me. Ok he is young and a hot head so I understand but I'm 60
Overall. I was inconsiderate to him and apologized but he handled it very badly.
We found Scarlatto's on Open Table as we couldn't get a table for 6 in the city around the holidays on short notice. We were seated promptly upstairs and contrary to what we read from other reviews, it wasn't too warm. Service was good. Food was ok. I had the seafood ravioli and it came to the table lukewarm. Flavor was meh. Not sure if we would go back again.
We were very happy about our experience at Scarletto. We had an 8:30 reservation on Saturday night and since we arrived earlier into the city, I called them to let them know. They were very accommodating and told us to just come in. The service, ambiance and food was 5 star. It actually is one of the best Italian restaurants in the theatre district that we've been to. Also, for NYC , The prices are not bad at all. The portions are very decent as well. At the end of our meal, the waiter also gave us complimentary lemongello after dinner drinks. I would definitely go back and recommend to everyone I know.
We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation and they seated us immediately. Upstairs table for two was not on top of each other. We had plenty of space. Food came out extremely fast which was great because we had a show to catch. Everything was excellent and menu was reasonable and had a nice variety. I will be returning
Met a friend in town to see "Waitress" on Broadway. Scarlatto is two doors east of the theater on West 47th Street and we were delighted with the décor, menu choices and their pre-fixed dinner menu as well. Everything was perfectly cooked, hot, absolutely delicious and the entire staff takes great care of your needs. Definitely try their corn soup...heaven in a bowl, best I've ever had! I now have a favorite theater district Italian restaurant and will be returning again and again. Even though the restaurant is sizeable, make reservations because the place fills up fast and they are forced to turn people without reservations away. You'll love this place as much as I!
We needed good Italian food in the theatre district to please out of town guests and children. I was nervous after reading some reviews online. It was a nice surprise when everything was perfect! The prix fix menu was wonderful. The portions were quite large and more than expected but our guests were thrilled and felt it was a great value. We were not rushed at all but felt the timing of everything was right. The food was very good with fresh homemade pastas and delicious fresh seafood. The service was great too and we had a good bottle of wine.
I was tasked with finding a reservation for 10 family members at 5:00pm, in the theatre district, on a Friday evening, with 4 hours notice. Not only were they able to accomidate us, we had a fantastic round table that worked beautifully for a family reunion. Everyone loved their meals and the sevice was very good.
Not enough wait staff for theatre and amount of people to be served. Waiter was indifferent but when I overheard him telling another waiter on the steps that waiter said “ well we liked the service.” What arrogance. No real reaction from the woman working at the check in. Don’t think the restaurant would be there if it weren’t so close to nearby theatres. Big fail. At least train your staff.
It was a big disappointment , I regret choosing this restaurant for my special occasion dinner in NYC. The place is old and outdated, the food was not good, I ordered glazed salmon with spinach, the fish was ok, but spinach tasted literally spoiled and sour, I could not eat it. The service was very impersonal, and not friendly. I choose this restaurant because of good reviews on Open Table, to my surprise it was nothing I expected to be!
