Great Roman classic dishes with accents of Tuscan fare.
Very ordinary place. Was empty on Sunday pre theatre. Could use an all around update menus and
The meatball appetizer was amazing! My fiancé got chicken parm which was delicious but my meal, the pumpkin ravioli was very disappointing. It was in a butter sage sauce but it came out just in a bowl of what tasted like pure melted butter and was extremely oily.
O Service, food was just ok, nothing special. Bread was rock hard. Really to value for what we got to eat.
Scarlattos is extremely convenient to most of the theater district. It is for that reason (and the delicious food of course) that it will continue to be our go-to pre-theater restaurant!!
Still a great place for a pre-theater dinner, but it is getting pricier.
The restaurant serves generous portions of tasty food. Service is very good.
If they could only put some fabric in the walls, it might not be as noisy. The restaurant was half full but very noisy. I can only imagine how noisy it eould be if it were full.
We love to visit this restaurant when we have a play to see that is close by. The servers are great and they make sure to get you out in time to make your curtain. The food is delicious and there are always great choices available. This time I had the striped bass special that came with jumbo shrimp on a bed of broccoli rabe. My appetizer was the beet salad with goat cheese which is one of my favorites. For dessert my husband and I shared the cappuccino semi freddo which was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. We will definitely go back.
Food was good, excellent service and reasonable cost. Vibrant atmosphere and perfect spot for pre theatre dinner. Our reservation was at 6. Seated right away, service efficient but not rushed and made our show in plenty of time.
The last time I went to Scarlotto's in December it was at another location and the food was better. I would not go back to this location.
Although the food was good, the service was far from acceptable. The waiter was inattentive and we had to ask for some bread several times.
I asked for my leftover food to be taken home. the waiter threw it out. However, the management did make a new platter for me to take home, and this was very appreciated.
I was most disappointed, since I had been going to Scarlattos before it moved to the new location. I much preferred everything about the old location.
Service just ok
Went before the theater and it was very good. Generous portions, I had the homemade gnocchi and there were one of the best I ever had! Service was excellant too!
This is a very nice and charming restaurant in the heart of the Theater District. Walk down a couple of steps in a townhouse on 46th Street and you enter the restaurant. The room is charming and the waitstaff is friendly and professional. If you are there for pre-Theater, the staff will be sure to get you out on time.
For starters we split the Portobello alla Griglia, Grilled Portobello mushrooms, ripened tomato and melted sheep cheese. It was excellent and enough to share. Our main courses were Pappardelle alla Bolognese, Homemade pappardelle with Bolognese sauce and Chicken alla Griglia, Rosemary grilled chicken paillard, potato and mixed greens. We both enjoyed our meals very much. We will definitely return.
This restaurant is a hidden gem in the theatre district. Excellent food and service! Cannot wait for my next trip to NYC to go back again!
A Theater District restaurant that we have enjoyed 2x in 2 weeks. That speaks for itself.
Not the best Italian food we've had in NYC but it is convenient to the theater district, Times Square, and the hotel that we frequent. Not "wow" but pretty good overall.
Chicken part with spaghetti good value
Chicken was a little dry and over cooked
Excellent service in a theatre district Italian bistro
Excellent food for a great value! Will definitely go back.
Excellent food and service.. A great pre theater meal!
On our 43rd anniversary we were really well taken care of.....food was outstanding and well priced, service was excellent and perfect location for the Theatre District. We will be back as soon as possible!
Scarlatto is in a new location and the ambience is lovely and inviting for pre-theatre. Our meal was excellent and I definitely will keep Scarlatto on my theatre district list.
We love Scarlatto! Never miss going when we are in New York! The homemade gnochi is fabulous!
We were looking for a typical NYC Italian eatery for a girls' night and Scarlatto delivered. We had a cozy table with attentive servers. The food was delicious and portioned perfectly - we had ravioli and chicken picatta. Dessert was yummy although the servings were too small to share.
Pre-theatre, once again, .....great food, bread, and service!
We had a lovely pre-theatre meal at Scarlatto. We chose this restaurant because we wanted Italian food in that specific area. The three of us really enjoyed our meals, but the only thing that was missing was more interaction with the staff. The service was good, but our servers seemed a bit timid. Was looking for a real Italian New York experience.
I make a reservation every time I am in town. Great food, prices and service. Never disappointed.
The restaurant was very crowded (pre-theater) and extremely noisy. Unfortunately, the waitress forgot to bring the bottle of wine we ordered. We were finished with the salad by the time she finally delivered it (after we reminded her), but the pappardelle bolognese was delicious! Even though we'd said it was our anniversary when we made the reservation, no mention was made of it by the staff. Overall, good for pre-theater since it was within walking distance and service was fast enough to make the show without rushing.
Much toooooo noisy!
The wait staff could not hear order or respond to questions.
Bus boy asked 6 times if we wanted our leftovers to go.
Spent two hours here, 15 mins of which was scarfing down our food at the end so we didn’t miss our show. Horrible service.
Food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. The service needs some training in how to conduct the time in between meals. There were only five people in the restaurant when we arrived and they seemed to be in a rush right from the moment we sat down. Very uncomfortable when they want to take the dishes when there is food still in them and obviously we were still eating. If they can fix that, its a great place to eat and the quality of the food has nothing to do with the service. Fix customer care and everything will take care of it self. Yes I would recommend this place to a friend, but I would let them know to tell the staff to take it easy.
Everything was good
Very noisy! Cramped at a table for 2, way too close to next table, hearing their conversation over our own. Food was excellent.
Never a disappointment! The staff is attentive, but not overbearing. The cuisine is very authentic and offers some different choices than most Italian restaurants. The portions are generous and priced fairly. Overall, one of my favorite NYC spots.
Service was impressively fast -- our party of five arrived at 5:10 p.m. on a Saturday night and had the bill an hour later. Food was great, will definitely come here again.
Pumpkin Ravioli was amazing, as well as, the Parpardale Bolignese!
We had a wonderful pre theater dinner - both food and service were excellent - we were on time for the curtain rising!
The food was very good. The only thing slightly wrong was the gnocchi my grandson ordered which was tough to chew. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and the service was very good.
We have been looking for a go to place for a long time and
now we have found it.
Had a wonderful experience. Will be back.
The food was good. Customer relations could be better. I had reserved a table and indicated we were celebrating a birthday. I also told the maitre d as soon as we checked in and also the server about the birthday celebration. Nothing was done. In the end, I had to ask if they had a small dessert made with a candle so we could sing to my son. I also paid for the cake, which at other places the restaurant would have given it without asking and without charging for it.
