Scarborough Fair Ratings and Reviews
Tonight was their (annual?) chateaubriand special, which we ordered. The meat was tender and flavorful and perfectly done; the potatoes were delicious and the bearnaise butter was fine. The vegetables seemed a bit odd, but there was so much food, it didn't matter - we ended up taking some of the meat home . The salads that came as part of the meal were good, deeper green than we happen to like (boring iceberg fans that we are) but beautifully dressed, with vinaigrette and walnuts. We also split a very substantial shrimp cocktail-- only three shrimp, but fresh and crisp, and more than enough for two; bonus points for allowing us to split as an app. Selection of wines by the glass adequate but unremarkable. Our server was charming and efficient. One of the Valentine's Day decorations in the alcove next to us came crashing down (harmlessly) and was righted promptly when we pointed it out, cheerfully and gracefully-- well done! A good dining experience all around.
We were originally scheduled to celebrate our anniversary in January 2017 at the Scarborough Fair, however plans changed last minute and we had to cancel. My wife loves restaurants with private dining, so we decided to book for January 2018. We went on a Sunday night at 6:30 pm and it was amazing. They knew it was our anniversary and put something nice on the table to celebrate the occasion. A few staff members even wished us a happy anniversary which was very nice and thoughtful. The private dining was excellent, the setting and mood were perfect. There were tables seated to the left and right of us and it was still very private and quiet. The interior decorating was amazing and the waiter we had was excellent. I usually do not write reviews for restaurants, however my wife specifically asked me to write one because of how amazed and happy she was with the Scarborough Fair. I would definitely recommend this restaurant - a quiet, romantic setting with excellent staff and an atmosphere that is unmatched. And before I forget to mention, the best part was the food. The price is well worth it for the food that is served. We ordered steak and salmon and both were prepared exactly as we ordered with excellent taste. The plates were displayed perfectly and the food came out right on time. An amazing night that we will always remember, and we plan on coming back! Thank you!
Good restaurant, not fabulous, but good. We had reservations, and were seated without waiting. Our server, Hannah did a very nice job. The food came out hot and timely. We had the shrimp cocktail, which were huge, served with ketchup-y cocktail sauce, no lemon & a big dollop of sour cream... yes, sour cream. We also had mozzarella caprese appy, which was ok, smushy tomatoes, just ok. The cowboy steak and lamb were both tasty, both were ordered medium, the steak was under and the lamb was over temperature. The flavor was there, but again, not fab, just ok. The flourless chocolate cake was decadent.
Doubt we will go back.
We have been here one other time and loved this place. On this particular evening we were seated in a room that held a large party of couples and three other 2 seat tables. Unfortunately, the large party was VERY loud and it was hard to hear each other speak. It was just a quiet night out (so we thought) for us and it turned out to be a rushed dinner so we could get out of there due to the noise level. My advice would be to NOT seat couples in a room with a large party. Couples normally are out for a nice date or quiet dinner, not to shout to each other.
30 years going to this restaurant. Never had a bad meal or service. Today was far from the best but certainly not in the gutter. Service was disappointing and hurried. The meal was unusually small. Not worth going into detail. I look at it as slightly disappointing but grateful that it is a rare occurrence here.
Enjoyed a Christmas lunch with 4 friends. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the ambience with many levels and small, cozy eating spaces is attractive. Our room had 4 high windows and a high ceiling and the temp never reached 70. After complaining, they brought in a small space heater which helped. Service was quite slow but pleasant. Food was good but not outstanding for $45/person with one glass of wine. A bit disappointing.
Amazing night out on a perfect snowy day. Had a romantic table on the landing (book in advance for these). Great ambiance and amazing meal. Great service and a very involved owner who always makes it a point to say hello. Don’t miss this gem for special occasions.
This was my third time back and didn’t love it this time. I understand it is a busy time but waited a while for server to come to table to ask if we wanted drinks. My lamb chops were well done although the server recommended medium rare. Will go back again but at a quieter time of year.
Went for our anniversary dinner and we booked on open table. There was confusion as to our reservation even though I could see the nook table set up with hearts and rose petals. They led us to a small table in the the dining room. Eventually, we were seated at the correct table. Dinner was wonderful and I would recommend them, especially for a special occasion.
Aside from the hostess who seated us at a table by the front door, and did not offer us another option though many tables opened up, it was a fun experience. We moved to the bar and Mark was terrific as we waited for another table that was not cold and isolated. Molly was very good as waitress, had special buratta, special clams appetizer, and a very tasty salmon entree. The place is beautifully decorated for the holidays.
After dinner, be sure to walk over to chocolate shop on the side of property.
We celebrated our anniversary here. The food was very good. I had the scallops with herbed risotto, terrific. My husband had the escargot and duck, fabulous. Sadly, they were out of carrot cake but we enjoyed the crepe brûlée! Looking forward to bringing friends back.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Scarborough Fair this weekend. Everything was wonderful. It’s such a pretty restaurant and we had a romantic alcove table. Our table was even decorated for our anniversary! Food was delicious, service was terrific, and we never felt rushed.
This was my first time here and if it weren't for the meal being very good, I would not have returned. We were a party of 3 and had a very early reservation. We arrived and the restaurant was mostly empty (because of the early time slot). The host table is sunken 3 steps down and far from the door, so we had to yell down the stairs to the host about our reservation details. She sat us at a very small table clearly meant for two people, and right next to the door where we were standing. I asked for another table because it was cold being right next to the door. She said she had no other tables. We then went to sit down and couldn't fit, and our extremely heavy table (that we couldn't move ourselves) had to be moved for the 3 of us to get into this very tight corner. I again asked for another table and was told no. My chair was jammed against the wall behind me, and the others were against the windowsill, and we had to be careful of an electrical wire that was plugged in behind us tightly across to the window. Once we were in, there was no getting out. At that point I vowed never to come again. But like I said, our servers were excellent and so was all of our meals, absolutely delicious. Then they had to come and move the table so we could get out. So, I will come again but I strongly suggest that table be omitted and the host podium be put in its place. If that really can't be done at the very least do not put more than 2 people at that table.
I went with my Son, Daughter-in-law . It was m y treat for my son's 59th Birthday.
The table as decorated with little colorful Birthday wishes . My son is a very special guy
so I was so happy that I picked this place. Our waiter made the evening. He was friendly
made us laugh yet gave us the best service. He suggested a wine for us that was one of the best wine's I have had in a long time. Thank you for making my son's birthday so special.
