   It’s been a little while since we dined at Scarborough Fair. We decided we wanted to go back and enjoy an evening out. Glad we did. The restaurant was still decorated for Easter. I felt like I was in a wonderland. It was absolutely beautiful. Ok onto the food. We both had the duck special. It was terrific. Cooked and presented perfectly. The server was attentive but not over bearing. And our Host, Michael was the perfect gentleman. Always look forward to seeing him.

   Noted as the most romantic restaurant in NJ, but wouldn't agree. We were celebrating our Anniversary. They did do a nice touch by decorating our table with red hearts, crystals & rose pedals as well as the complimentary glass of bubbly, which was much appreciated, but the service was not top notch. The waitress was nice but not refined. No one came by to check on us. As for the food it was just average concerning the price point it should have be far superior. My Husband's filet was over cooked- he ordered medium but came out medium well ( no pink inside). The best dish we got was the house made cheesecake dessert. We also felt it was way over the top with Easter decorations.

   First time being there, likely my only time. Based on reviews and the history of the place, we went for a more romantic dinner. I will preference it was Good Friday, so we weren’t there for the meat, with the selection of Gluten Free and fish, I thought this would be a great place to enjoy. Ambience - it was set for Easter from wall to wall. So felt a little less romantic upon entering and throughout, but that wouldn’t persuade me to not go, many people may enjoy the festive feel and more family focused. Music was playing and added a nice ambience for the rooms. Service - no real issues with food being brought out and attention to table. Would have liked a little more critical asks on how the food was or if everything was satisfactory at the time so we could have explained some of the food for feedback to restaurant. But very nice and was a pleasure to have as a server. Food - we ordered the shrimp ceviche as an app. This was refreshing and good, shrimp was fresh and the mango and sauces blended great. For dinner, we ordered the special, Chilean Seabass and the Angler (monkfish). Positive, Seabass was cooked very well and was good, puree was nice compliment. Not so good, basmati rice didn’t feel right and asparagus came out dry, no seasoning or sautéed on it. Worst, never asked for price and the special seabass cost me 70 dollars. Fish was good but the value was not worth that price. Monkfish positives, fish was cooked nice and firm, flavors of the pea puree was nice balance. Negatives, under seasoned/salted, very under salted. Fish was swimming in the puree, felt more like a soup, could not recognize the blanc sauce as it all mixed together. This dish disappointed in many levels that it brought the experience to a disappointment. Enough where my partner ate my seabass and I ate her monk. Overall, value we paid to quality of food and atmosphere was unfortunate. $70 for Seabass left a bad experience in the one item that was actually done well.

   The ambiance was beautiful. Service beyond slow. The saffron rice was overcooked and dried out. Crunchy. The pork was overcooked. The roasted red pepper salad was dressed with flavorless olive oil only. The stuffed mushrooms lacked seasoning. It was an incredibly disappointing experience

   Our waitress, Haley, was wonderful as was the entire dining experience as we celebrated daughter's and grandmother's birthdays!
