About Scaramouche Restaurant
Scaramouche has long been celebrated by customers and critics for its unwavering commitment to making each dining experience a memorable one. Chef/owner Keith Froggett's sophisticated cuisine is presented simply with care and attention to detail. The service underscores that philosophy: unobtrusive and respectful. The restaurant affords a stunning nighttime vista of the downtown Toronto skyline. These components and more make Scaramouche the singular destination it is. And the reason that the restaurant is consistently ranked as one of the city's best for more than three decades.

Scaramouche Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We got the corner table with great view of downtown, which was an excellent start. Service was impeccable. The grilled octopus was tender and warmed just so - a delight. The Yellowfin Tuna Crudo was fresh and firm - top grade. Both prepared with finesse. But the medium rare tenderloin was absolutely stunning - with a sauce to die for which was expertly prepared on demand but with old fashioned ingredients which were painstakenly prepared over hours. One of the best steak sauces we've had among top restaurants. The meat was perfectly matched with the 2010 La Clape (Mas du Soleilla) - intense and complex after suitable decanting.
Out first time at Scaramouche and certainly will not be our last.
Everything was exception. Both the meal and the service is fine-tuned to perfection. Very surprised that such an ordinary apartment building has had such a fabulous restaurant for so long; even more surprising is the view from the ground floor which still overlooks the city. Definitely a special occasion place!
We have eaten here a few times prior, but this time was off the charts! Most of the meal components we sampled this time were amongst the best we had ever tried of those particular dishes (ex: fois gras terrine, soft shell crab, lamb, soup, and of course..the coconut cream pie!)...and we regularly dine at some of Torontos best restos (George, Auberge DP, Terra, One, etc...). Outstanding!! Also, the service was perfect...just helpful/intrusive enough, refined but not overbearing or pretentious. Our servers, the waiter and sommelier in particular....were simply marvelous. Both the wines by the glass and the bottle were superb and well recommended
I don't usually rattle on like this, but I was suitably impressed and feel it is only fair to "give back" where we have enjoyed ourselves so much.
Not inexpensive, but as compared to the other established top end restos in Toronto...I considered it more than fair value.
We will be returning soon, and our only wish is to experience the same brilliant effort again....Bravo!
Great welcoming place, with excellent food and stuff that are friendly. Big plus is that they do not interrupt during the meal with question:'' Is everything is ok, how is the food". Who ever want to make someone happy this great food and restaurant will do it for sure. As an appetizer -Octopus was excellent choice. Crispy from outside, and nice tender inside with great plate decor and nice sauces that goes along.
Main course -was filet mignon and it was far best one that I have had in Canada.
Dessert -cocconut pie which is light and so delicious, slice is size of mountain and yet you just can't stop eat it untill nothing is left.
Me being a Croat is very hard to find great tasting food that would bring me back home, but Scaramouche was my Croatia for those few hours that I have spend there.
Thank you. See you soon.
This was a bucket list restaurant for me to try. The service was good, the food was presented nicely, but lacking flavour and seasoning in general. I ordered the scallops, my husband had the pork. Both were bland. I don't mind paying for quality. But, we left feeling like we paid for service and nothing more. This is a been there, done that restaurant. We wouldn't bother going back. Nothing was close to craveable. Our bill was $350. For that price, we should have really enjoyed the food. I expected more.
Quite a let down. Too expensive for what was served. Tough rabbit, unusual filet mignon, plates were too busy. I think the chef really wanted to be an artist. So many thing on a plate, we didn't know what to eat. We thought the meals were actually pre prepared and just heated up. Wow!
It's always an outstanding experience to dine at Scaramouche. Last night was no exception as we enjoyed the evening celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary. The lobster starter was prepared and presented to perfection. The duck breast, always a great alternative to steak, was served with a wonderfully sweet sauce. Our evening was complete with the truly great service, while not intrusive but always available.
Amazing atmosphere and stunning views at night. Service is amazing and I appreciated the servers attention to us through out the night with filling our drinks and placing our handkerchief back on our seat neatly when we left. Great food as well. One of the most memorable dates/birthday celebrations that I've ever had.
This was the third time I've been here. If you had dinner for two people, each with an appetizer and entrée, you can expect normal portions and to walk away full. If you are a group of women, you could share 2 appetizers, each get an entree, share the coconut cream pie, and walk away full. It's not the quantity but the quality and taste that will leave you satisfied and filled. Parsnip Ravioli is also amazing.
Appetizers I highly recommend are the seared foie gras (a special) to share. It is VERY rich and only a few bites are needed for you to feel satisfied. Else, the Quercia Speck is a phenomenal prosciutto salad.
As for the entrées, you can't go wrong with the steak or venison. However if you like pork chops, then the St. Canut Pork is an incredibly tender and juicy suckling pig.
If you're still up for dessert at this point, then the coconut cream pie is a crowd favourite.
They also have a fantastic cocktail selection. I've had all of them and they are delicious. I can't remember he name off the top of my head but start with the one that has pear in it.
This Toronto institution continues to earn its reputation. It's a treat to get wonderful food served with professionalism in a civilized environment... without the guy in a backwards Blue Jay's cap sitting beside you asking for a craft beer for a change. There is a place for everything, thank goodness there us still a place for Scaramouche!
As always scaramouche never disappoints. It is hands down the best restaurant in Toronto and has all facets covered meaning out of this world food, impecable and attentive service and the experience is always 10 star rating.
Trust me if you haven't tried just book and let scaramouche restaurant indulge you in a culinary adventure.
We took my mom for her birthday and she was thrilled. I had a raw scallop special for appetizer and it was amazing. I had venison as main and it was divine too. The waiter was attentive, always filling our wine the moment it was depleted. They have been around a long time, and I hadn't been in awhile but for me this remains one of best restaurants in Toronto.
what a pleasant surprise
when you pull up you question the place greatly
as you descend the stairs you begin to realize your in the right place
phenomenal food with taste explosions
was disappointed with the first greeting when we arrived
the shorter full head of hair individual tried to pawn us off on a table close to the kitchen when there was 3 others available with much better seating
the table near kitchen was never filled afterwards and neither were the other tables which were vacant at our arrival around 9pm
did not appreciate having to justify why I did not want to seat near the kitchen
I honestly almost left
glad I stayed the food was exceptional and the service impeccable
I will return and I will insist not to be seated at the table near the kitchen
The evening was perfect! We arrived early and were accommodated quickly. We had a beautiful view of the city skyline, as I requested. Service was impeccable and our cocktails, meals, wine etc arrived promptly and everything was delicious!! From the amuse bouche (quail egg), cauliflower soup and my husbands charcuterie app, to the filet mignon and on to the ultimate dessert of the coconut creme pie, everything was delectable! Really lives up to its top rating! Highly recommend it!
We had the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare to start - which is nothing short of spectacular, and their Grilled Filet Mignon for our main. Respect the meat and get it at medium rare. End the night with their signature Coconut Cream Pie and some cappuccino - you're welcome. Great ambiance and great service. Will definitely visit again.
There is a reason that Scaramouche is considered one of the best restaurants in Toronto.
Not only does it have a great view of the city and quiet dining room, the food is beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The service of the staff is also perfect - unobtrusive but attentive at the same time. There is a good selection of cocktails as well as a great wine list. Kudos to the chef and all the staff. Thank you all for a memorable meal at your fine restaurant. First class all the way!
