In a party of four, we had four separate entrees. Everyone enjoyed their meal from a an extensive menu.
Excellent service and meal. The pasta was tender and fresh. The scallops were also very tasty and perfect texture. I recommend wine over drinks.
I had purchased a gift card for my parents based on a recommendation (I am from out of town) which was mailed and never received. They were very good about replacing it.
Have been there many times and this time food. It as good.
Had to wait a long time for dinner even though not very crowded.
We went for birthday dinner early on Friday and as we were ordering the calamari they said sorry we are out of that. Them she informed us they were out of veal and the short bibs . This is a Italian restaurant. Also when we order the drinks they ran out of beer glasses. The place was not crowded and at 6:30 on a Friday night I think they should have a stocked kitchen.
cold coffee, waitress not particularly attentive, 5 people; 2 had cold food but no one wanted to complain. As the hostess paying the bill I was pretty angry no one spoke up! But why did we get cold food and cold coffee ... . oh I know, no one wants to do their job!
We have mentioned before that items on menu not available. This visit was no exception.
Wine ordered....was out
Soup ordered...none left
Best part of dining however is food is consistently served hot.
Love the GF options and the minestrone soup!
Scapa was excellent. We were greeted immediately as we walked in by the very friendly owner and we were sat right away. Our server was very friendly and energetic and told us about the menu since it was our first time. We went on half off wine night! A few of their wines are offered for half price, and we enjoyed the chianti. The bread rolls were excellent with a garlic butter on them. For entrees I got the chicken limone and my mom got the short rib cavatelli. We both wanted the short rib but did not want to get the same thing and I was very happy I did get the chicken limone, the chicken was excellent and came with a very lemony butter sauce. The short rib cavatelli was amazing too, but I love anything with calabrese chilies :) We finished with the creme brûlée, which was so good as well. My mom always gets creme brûlée if it is offered and she particularly loved Scapas! We will be back since she lives so close and the menu is huge so there is plenty to choose from.
Very good food but hostess seated us in a dead zone & we had to witness a "not my table" argument amongst the servers. A first week employee was assigned to our table and luckily for us he worked hard to overcome the earlier slight to us by the other servers. Future patrons be aware.
Food came out in a timely fashion and was delicious. Only complaint is we ordered the calamari and it suspiciously came after 2 minutes. It was warm but I didn't think it was fresh. After we finished the appetizer, another waiter came by with another plate of calamari so I think that was ours and we might have been given one that was sitting out for a while.
Great food and service
The food was good and the menu is extensive. There are a lot of options to choose from with a range of prices. Nice atmosphere with dining room options, bar options and more private dining. They also have some good week night specials.
One of my favorites in the Western burbs!
Great for date night, but also kid friendly and the food is delicious!
This is an upscale establishment with a deep seafood selection. Scapa's crab cake appetizer is pricey, but worth it! When we are in the area, we often stop in for dinner.
Great food at a reasonable price, with outstanding service. Our new favorite! We especially appreciated the thoughtfulness of the hostess, who immediately told us that they had several parties that night and asked if we wanted a quieter location. Little things like that separate the outstanding restaurants from the merely excellent.
Saturday night was very busy and service was attentive but spotty. We initially waited quite a while for drinks to be served, but luckily our dinner companions enjoy a leisurely dinner. Side salads served with entrees are always fresh. Sausage stuffed chicken was very nicely prepared. We don't usually order desserts, but the mini tiramisu, creme brûlée and lemon tart all were a great end to the meal.
So disappointed in this Restaurant... the Food was average at Best, the Prices were high for the amount of food received, the Service was slow at Best, the Noise level was loud and hard to hear one other. We went there on a whim after receiving a Coupon. As it turns out the waiter forgot to deduct the coupon and I didn't want to wait any longer to get it fixed-couldnt find the waiter to even ask. There are not enough servers for the amount of people during Weekend dinner.
Great Dining Gem. Excellent food! Wonderful, friendly staff!
Usually top notch
This Time not so much.
Place was empty and they made us wait at the bar.
Worst was my husband was given a filthy wine glass.
A very off night.
Left feeling we won't return for a while.
Grilled calamari is one of our favorite starters at Scapa. This time it was chewy, and usually it's really tender. Only disappointment of the evening. Entrees were yummy, and soup and salad are included in the price of the entrees. Salads are always fresh and the balsamic vinaigrette is lovely.
We have been here twice and both times the food has been delicious whether it is a pasta dish or meat entree. Most of the desserts are made at the restaurant and they are great for sharing.
Overpriced wine. $16 for a 4oz. pour of $18.00 Chianti is ridiculous. The squash ravioli tasted like a desert, not an entrée. Too sweet.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Food is excellent and so is the service. We eat here often.
It was a quiet Sunday but the usual great service and good food, even the bread rolls.
This was not a first time visit, but rather my fifth and while I never considered the food great, it was adequate and a convenient location to meet friends. It took over an hour to get our bottle of wine, and then another hour plus for our food....it was not a busy night. Veal picante was heavily breaded and the sauce on the pasta thick and over lemony. I brought most of mine home but eating it a second day was not an option....Once was more than enough. The manager did apologize and comped the wine along with the chicken Francese that was so thickly coated in lemon sauce it was not edible. Overall really bad night at Scarpo, will likely try again due to location but will stick to a simple pasta dish when I do. Will also grab a glass of wine from the bar. Lighten up on the lemon and breading and get people their wine!
Busy night with birthday party. Our private draped area gave us some privacy and quiet. Our waiter was very nice and apologetic about slow service because of large party group. Food was delicious.
Overall, we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. All of the staff were very friendly but spread a little thin the night we dined there. All of the food was really tasty from the soup to the dessert!! We will definitely be going back to try other dishes.
Delicious $5 burger on Tuesday nights! Scapa fries are super yummy too. My recommendation would be to sit inside during rush hours as the volume of the trains take away from the ambiance and conversation.
We have Pasta it was good but we ordered a sauce with with bones in it different but wouldn't order it again
Service was terrible. We were the only couple in the bar waiting for our drinks which took 15 minutes or more to serve. The manager said the bartender had to find basil for my wife's drink but never communicated that to the waitress and us. Never one to complain but 4 people came in after us and all got their order by the same bartender. Didn't seem like they cared at all when we brought the wait to their attention. The place needs some adult supervision.
Great food, great service. We frequent Scapa's about once a month. Family friendly place with terrific food.
We had a coupon, so we decided to try Scapa. The big mistake was not coming sooner. We had two appetizers on two-for-one night (Monday). Highly recommend the grilled calamari. Wow! Ditto the shrimp and polenta. Very spicy, and I cannot recall ever having better polenta. I had the cavatelli con carne -- short ribs with spinach and penne pasta. Rich and filling. Wife had the whitefish, which was also prepared perfectly. They were able to accommodate our gluten-free requests quite nicely, and the service overall (Rebecca was our wait person) was as good as what you would expect at a high-end restaurant. Monday is a quiet night, I think. The place was only about half full, so she had time to spend with us. But I'm sure the quality of service is the same every night. Good place, a little hard to find if you don't live in the area, but definitely worth it. Highly recommend Scapa.
All food selections made that evening were great. Everyone had a good time. Will go back again.
Food options are diverse. Service was outstanding. Everyone left there full and happy!!
Grilled calamari is always a hit! Never have had a bad meal at Scapa.
3 of us had a fish selection, all choose something different, all were excellent. I do eat meat but prefer quality of fish when dining out and I appreciate the multiple options on their menus. Enjoyed the our night out!
Awesome, awesome, awesome chicken Marsala! Would love to know their secret ingredient!
Celebrated my birthday, and my husband's . We were a group of five; enough of a varied menu for everyone's tastes. Our server, Cleo, was attentive. Will be coming back with other friends soon. Food was awesome!!
I had been wanting to try this place and was so glad I did. The wine list isn't extensive, but what they have is good. I ordered the eggplant parmesan, which came with soup or salad. I had a butternut squash soup that was very tasty and smooth. The eggplant had a nice crisp crust and just the right amount of breading, sauce and cheese. It came with a small side of pasta as well. More than enough food for one person. The staff was very attentive, constantly checking that we were ok. I can't wait to go back and try another dish! The restaurant has a nice, relaxed feel and is pretty quiet, so conversation is really easy to hold. They have a small patio area out front as well.
