I understand the Liberty Hotel is a dog-friendly hotel. However, another diner brought her two dogs into the restaurant, that's disgusting.
Our meal at Scampo was delicious! The fried calamari appetizer was honestly the best calamari I've ever had! The entrees and drinks were great too, and we will definitely return.
Nice place nice place
Excellent experience at Scampo. My wife and I went to dinner before a play. Cocktails were good. Meals were excellent. She had the grilled pink swordfish pups, and I had the sherried langoustinos over curry risotto. Yum and yum again. We split an apple crisp dessert that was truly terrific, and the coffee was very good. I have to compliment the service as perfectly attentive without being annoyingly interruptive.
Warm, casual ambiance, very good food, attentive service. Lamb special was extremely expensive.
I recommend Scampo when they are less busy, as opposed to when they are swamped. The food suffers, honestly, and the experience is expensive enough and potentially beautiful enough that you might do yourself a favor and go on a weeknight, early, when they have more time. The pizzas particularly suffer when the restaurant is slammed.
The food was exquisite, and the service was very good.
Wonderful waitstaff. Excellent service. Food was excellent, non traditional. Great flavors and adventurous. Would love to return.
Food and service were excellent, and the room is handsome and has a fun vibe.
The manager was extremely accommodating when we were delayed with being seated. Superb food and excellent service We will definitely return.
this place used to be better, have been here many times for lunch and dinner. the music that was playing during lunch was horrible and annoying, nothing to relax to. the food was better in the past. very very limited lunch menu
I met a friend for lunch and we ate at the bar. Very comfortable. Food was fantastic.
I celebrated a *milestone* birthday here last year and chose it again for two birthday celebrations this year. On Saturday, I was with my daughter and her partner. We had cocktails at home so went right to wine. Actually, the offerings for wines by the glass could be better--a wider variety--but my daughter and I had a Gavi and her partner had an Argentinean red. They were both good and we filled our glasses twice. For dinner, my daughter, who needs Gluten-Free food, had the scallops and a delicious spaghetti carbonara with G-F pasta. She proclaimed both delicious. (I tasted them. They both were!)Best for her was that there is a wide variety of G-F foods and the server was totally up on all of them. Her partner and I shared the Caesar salad which is always delicious here. Then I had the pork chop. OMG! Huge, perfectly cooked and sauced, served with crispy fries. Outstanding. He had the lamb special and loved it. For dessert we shared some insanely delicious chocolate thing with salt caramel ice cream. We ordered one and could have eaten three. This place has a lively buzz, but you can still hear yourself talk. It's popular, but not trendy. And the food is delicious.
-fabulous and festive the spaghetti with cracklings and peppers was the hit of the meal
Just wonderful! Food Service Table Managers!!
Excellent food and very attentive wait staff. Would eat her again, especially, for a special occasion.
We were treated to a visit from Chef Alex at our table. Great food and environment.
The ambience is terrific. Service is great, unfortunately the was not.
The food is always fantastic. Lydia does food so well! Its a classy place with a nice vibe - we always enjoy!
Was there for Sunday brunch. Best doughnuts ever. Had the pasta with ham. Perfectly cooked and great sauce. My wife had the skirt steak. Just a fabulous cut of steak was served and cooked to perfection! Great sauce! My daughter has to eat gluten free and she had several choices. Went with the eggs benedict and was really happy with her selection. Great service as well. Really nice atmosphere!! Will definitely go back when back in Boston!!
We had a late Valentines dinner and I had a G.C., I love the hotel and wanted to try the restaurant. We ordered the elephant ear and crab cake for an appetizer, loved the presentation and it was delicious! Also loved the breadsticks!
For an entrée I ordered the duck, loved it, my husband ordered the chicken marsala, it honestly wasn't a dish that had much flavor or an impressive presentation. The flavor was good.
The staff was great!
Lighting at table was so dim couldn't see the menu or food, others at other tables were using their cellphone light to read their menus. Ordered Langostinos (plural), received one small paltry langostino, overcooked and not at all up to par. Came with risoto containing shrimp, no mention of shrimp on the menu - total liability for those with allergies. Menus were plain printed paper with creases and wrinkles from being handled so much - so not classy for a restaurant that came with such high reviews. The servings were small and overpriced. The food sounded much better than it looked or tasted. I have no idea how this restaurant has garnered such high ratings. We cook better Italian food at home. We are mature and experienced restaurant goers and were looking forward to a great gastronomic experience on a night out. Instead we came away disappointed and frustrated. This information was shared with the restaurant and we have yet to receive any response. This restaurant didn't come close to delivering and is definitely not recommended by us.
I had fond memories of a visit several years ago and looked forward to a "date" with my husband. Sadly, our meal fell far short of expectations. We ordered the sirloin and sides to share. The sides were tasty while the beef was mediocre. If we return we will order something else.
My husband and I enjoyed a delightful Sunday brunch. So many choices to choose from! The bourbon bacon butterscotch donuts were AH-MAZING! Lobster pizza? Oh yes, they did...and it was crazy good.
Scampo is a foodie's heaven. Can't wait to go back again!
The service was very professional and amicable. The room is beautiful. It all started well, with the great service, good wine and the grissini and pesto brought quickly to the table. It tasted great and we were excited! We started analyzing the menu and it felt a bit confusing but we made our choices. We started sharing a pizza which was good. Than, main courses came. Not good at all. Too many ingredients and ideas on the plate and nothing really tasting good. Quite frustrating.
Friends who had lived in Boston told us this was their favorite restaurant. We were in Boston to visit colleges with our granddaughter. Service and food were outstanding! Wonderful atmosphere and lighting. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Waiter was attentive and charming. All around a great experience!
The food was very good but not outstanding, service was attentive but not overbearing. We would return.
My husband and I ate at Scampo on Valentine's Day. It was a very disappointing dining experience. Our table was situated such that the lights of the out going valet cars were in his eyes. We ordered a bread that was described as having cheese, tomatoes and basil on top. The cheese was partially melted pizza cheese, the "tomatoes" consisted of the pizza sauce and the basil was a ball of green. It was basically a cold flatbread. The beet salad consisted of cone shaped beet triangles with frisee on a creamy cheese- lackluster. My husband enjoyed his duck very much. I returned my salmon to the kitchen as it was too undercooked for my liking- the waitress did not ask, not did I specify how to cook the fish. Our desert was a very tasty chocolate cake with strawberry sauce that was so thick and sweet it seemed best used in a frozen daiquiri. Our waitress was lovely and attentive to our table but that isn't enough to overcome the dinner. I am shocked and surprised that Lydia Shire is associated with this quality of food.
I usually like Scampo but this meal was all around trash. The menu was boring, the food even more so. Totally bland and a complete waste of a night. Very disappointed from start to finish.
Nice place - great food, friendly service. I would recommend to friends that visit Boston.
Great food and experience. Lobster pizza fantastic
everything was perfect, will definitely be back real soon. it’s located inside the liberty hotel, a renovated modern scenic hotspot that was once the old suffolk county jail.
One of the best restaurants in Boston. Portion sizes are worth the price and the food is delicious.
Outstanding meal!!! Fantastic service-Kurt is great! Along with out of the world food thanks to Lydia!
We had a fantastic family celebration dinner with our two teenage children. The menu is fantastic and everyone's food was delicious. Love the high top tables - super comfortable stools. Our waiter was great. We will definitely come again!
The service and food was amazing. The only concern was the location of our table. The four person high top table was too close to the front door and because of the cold weather outside it prohibited us from being comfortable during dinner.
As always the energy was high and food was very good, but the food service level this time was very slow... we had excellent service at the bar. Our waiter was very distracted/forgetful. They were very busy but still.
Great ambiance and Italian wines. Not their usual great service, though: I waited a long time and finally had to go ask the hostess if we could please be assigned a waiter/waitress. Unusual since usually they're pretty available.
