Scampo at The Liberty Hotel Ratings and Reviews
I had the short ribs which were mostly fat - I was very disappointed, especially considering it was the most expensive entree on the menu. The service was good although the waitress kept trying to get us to order more food. Overall, it was not a good experience - I was very disappointed.
My fiancé and I thought that the food was great. The portions could have been better to reflect the price for the meal. Drink we’re great. The only other negative was the service seemed to be a bit of a rush as in they want to get us out to clear off the table for new customers
This was a perfect place for my wife and I to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The atmosphere was great. The service was attentive and knowledgeable and definitely enhanced our experience. The food was incredible as well. The appetizers and entrees were both great, we licked all plates clean. Our server also brought out a couple desserts for us since he knew it was our anniversary.
We had a 5:30! Reservation with out two very well behaved mellow and adorable girls age 12 and 10 and they still stuffed us in the back and wouldn’t accommodate a move. So weird as the last time we were there a tear sho Lydia took them on a kitchen tour. The lack of friendliness this time was very evident and not enough choices on menu-
We were really wowed by the Liberty Hotel altogether and had a wonderful lunch at Scampo. The dining area is such a pleasant, spacious and comfy spot with lots of light and a view of the outside patio. As there were fewer vegetarian choices on the menu outside of pasta, our server was very accommodating, suggesting they could create a special vegetarian salad for my friend who was celebrating a birthday. The food was quite good and reasonably priced. We felt well taken care of and look forward to coming again and telling all our friends as well!
Menu choices were great but the overall dining experience was mediocre.
Restaurant lighting was poor. Noise level made talking through dinner nearly impossible.
Food prep and delivery less than expected
I’ve had lunch here before and it was great.
I may try it again but not right away
This was not the first time we ate at Scampos but we were extremely disappointed in the whole experience. We were a party of 6 and they placed us to the left of the kitchen. After we had ordered, a large group gathered just beyond our table with just a low folding wall separating us. It turned out to be a very loud group to the point that we could not talk to each other over the noise. We complained to our waiter right away but he said they would quiet down. Unfortunately, they only got louder. By the time we were ready to pay our bill, the group was out of control. The manager who we requested to see apologized and said if she was aware sooner she would have moved us. She removed our appetizers from the bill. I have to ask though, how does a manager not circulate in the restaurant and noticed such a disruption during the night and why was a large party booked when it could not be contained in an enclosed room. Clearly there was no concern for other patrons in the restaurant and they only seemed to see dollar signs from the large group. Probably won't be going back anytime soon.
The food and drinks were amazing. Was very happy with the brunch menu. The suckling pig ravioli with exotic mushrooms was delicious. Loved the ambience and decor of the restaurant. Wasn't impressed with the tiramisu it lacked espresso taste that I wanted and was alittle watery.
Also, disappointed that my requests weren't fulfilled via booking opentable. I asked for a high top and also asked for a birthday dessert to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday both were not fulfilled.
Overall, would definitely go back to dine at Scampo.
Started badly when they sat us in the dark and we have been several times before but this was dreadful. Food wasn’t at all close to their standard and the service was mediocre and rushed. We ordered two things that never appeared. One side order and coffee at the end of the meal although they did manage to put the coffee on the bill even if it didn’t quite make it to the table. It’s a shame it used to be one of our favorite local places.
We were so happy with our evening at Scampo. We were planning to sit at a table but found 3 great seats at the bar while waiting for our table and decided to dine at the bar. Our bartender was wonderful, fun and took such good care of us- even shared some cookies with us at the end of our meal! All our food was so tasty, from the lobster pizza, mozzarella and prosciutto, spaghetti alle vongole, the cod, seasonal ravioli. We always leave here so happy we came!! We will be back soon! Thank you for having us!!
Date night with the wife started brilliantly from the moment we arrived. People watched at the bar until we were ready to dine and basked in the atmosphere. Staff worked hard to keep customers happy and we loved the interactions we had with them - added to the night.
Food was incredible and exceeded our expectations. So fresh and flavourful. Would definitely go there again.
Starting with he mozzarella sampler and going right through to the tiramisu, Scamp has found a way to be eclectic and fusion without being overly fussy or cute. They know good food, how to present it, how to mix Indian, Italian, New England and all-American food in ways that make sense, and with good humor (the prison metaphors carry throughout the whole menu, as the former home of the Charles St. jail).
I couldn't recommend it more highly, with excellent service from the maitre d's, our waiter Cesare, and everyone else.
This was not our best meal at Scampo. Food was great service lacked. Our waiter was only semi observant of our needs. I had to pour my own wine that I made $125 for after patiently waiting to be poured. I mentioned in my initial reservation it was my fiancé’s birthday and it wasn’t recognized, while other tables were. Again food was good but service lacked. I have often taken clients to Scampo but will now rethink my options.
This was our second visit to this restaurant and I must say the service and food was noticeable better. We had a wonderful waitress that willing to guide us through the menu and offered to have changes made to our selections to suit our tastes. We will definitely return to this restaurant in the future.
Unfortunate. we have been to Scampo several times and found it to be a wonderful restaurant. Unfortunately our last experience had the service extremely lacking. we were a party of 5 and three of our meals were brought out cold and had to be sent back. One meal was brought out at least 15 minutes prior to the other 4 which made for an akward dinner. This is a very high end restaurant and one would expect the service to be up to par. The restaurant did apologize and comp our appetizer, however the entire evening was jaded by the entrée experience.
The pizza was touted as having fresh mozzarella and tomato sauce but neither was true. Two of us ordered the pasta special with crab and white truffles The past arrived without the truffles. We asked the waiter if they shaved it at the table. He returned with a few slices of truffle on a plate which he proceeded to scrape on the past with a knife. We ordered a gluten free cake for someone's birthday and it arrived with a gluten free cake topped with non-gluten free ice-cream. The restaurant is noisy and impossible to hear someone at the end of a table for eight.
Great service from the moment I made the reservation. My daughter and her two friends, and I were celebrating her 16th birthday in Boston for the weekend, we had concert tickets and decided to book an early dinner.
I booked it through OpenTable, and a few days after, I received a phone call from the restaurant asking if there were any special requests for the evening. I asked if I could have the pastry chef bake a cake for her and personalize it. They said no problem-asked what flavor, size, etc.
Two days before our reservation, they called again to confirm that everything was all set. Both times they called, the young lady was extremely polite and helpful .
When we arrived, everything was set up for us, we had a delicious dinner perfectly timed with bringing the cake out with birthday candles and a sparkler.
Truly impeccable service, and delicious food.
We all enjoyed the dinner at Scampo!
Everything at Scampo was memorable...the service was flawless, the food was absolutely exceptional, and the atmosphere was spot on. We started with the burrata, proscuitto, and arugula appetizer. Even though this dish is simple, it was presented flawlessly and the quality of the ingredients was superb. One of us ordered the brick chicken and literally cleaned the plate, not leaving a morsel or bit of gravy behind. It is one item on the menu that takes a little longer (according to our server) but we didn't mind at all since we had such a nice table (with the most comfortable chairs!!!). And one of us ordered the halibut which was cooked perfectly and came with the most delicious presentation of thin ribbons of seasoned squash twirled together. We decided to indulge and ordered the Chocolate Decadence...out of this world dark chocolate mousse-like dessert with fleur de sel caramel and malted milk chocolate ice cream.
Our experience at Scampo was memorable and Scampo has quickly ascended to the top of our list of favorite restaurants in Boston!
