Scampo at The Liberty Hotel Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I ate at Scampo on Valentine's Day. It was a very disappointing dining experience. Our table was situated such that the lights of the out going valet cars were in his eyes. We ordered a bread that was described as having cheese, tomatoes and basil on top. The cheese was partially melted pizza cheese, the "tomatoes" consisted of the pizza sauce and the basil was a ball of green. It was basically a cold flatbread. The beet salad consisted of cone shaped beet triangles with frisee on a creamy cheese- lackluster. My husband enjoyed his duck very much. I returned my salmon to the kitchen as it was too undercooked for my liking- the waitress did not ask, not did I specify how to cook the fish. Our desert was a very tasty chocolate cake with strawberry sauce that was so thick and sweet it seemed best used in a frozen daiquiri. Our waitress was lovely and attentive to our table but that isn't enough to overcome the dinner. I am shocked and surprised that Lydia Shire is associated with this quality of food.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. First off I want to commend our server for not just providing great recommendations but for being engaging and helpful in making a special night go off without any problems.
If you enjoy cheese than you cannot pass up on the Mozzarella tasting and the handmade breads.
And if you are a fan of lamb then I would say to try and go on Saturday when they have the baby lamb special, because it was excellent and may have been one of the best lamb dishes I have ever had.
Overall it was a great experience and would recommend it to anyone.
Food and service were outstanding. Nice wine list, particularly Italian reds, with wide range of pricing and selections. Mozzarella offerings were truly tasty, and the fresh pastas were a treat! All food is freshly prepared in an open kitchen, our server had an abundance of great suggestions for appetizers, entrees, and dessert, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We'll be back!
Excellent all round. Good and very friendly service, excellent food choices, very imaginative and wide selection. Moderate noise level. Highly recommended. Some excellent low price pasta options, through moderate cost entrees such as brick chicken and salmon, right up to expensive venison and lobsters. So how much you pay is up to you. So good we went again the next evening to try another dish. We were not disappointed.
This restaurant never fails. Lydia Shire has a way of keeping us coming back, with a meld of flavors, textures, and colors in addition to taste . We dine out often in Boston's best with an emphasis on Italian and French food. This is second to none! We always request our favorite waiter, Cesare, who is most knowledgeable about Scampo's wine list and menu. One can feel his passion for food as he describes the specials of the day as well as in his response to your questions about the menu. Scampos is the best!
Ah-mazing! The architecture of the hotel is crazy cool in keeping the elements of the actual jail cells in the design. We were there while the sun was setting & the light shining through the tall glass windows was beautiful. The waitstaff was extremely knowledgeable & friendly. The hostesses were lovely. The food was out of this world!
Always enjoy our time at Scampo. Unfortunately I was served the wrong dish, The Pig alforno, when I ordered the Pork Chop. The dish presentation made it look like a pork chop, but the fat content was too much for me to handle as I learned in the middle of the night
We will come back but I am going to much more diligent in paying attention to what is served to me
The food is very good and the chef is good. But the restaurant is so overpriced and the cost of a glass of wine ridiculous. Also, the night that I went the restaurant rushed us out because they had a party for the employees scheduled . I'm sorry, when you go to a restaurant that costs as much as this one does you want to make an experience of it and not be rushed out at 8:30pm!! This boils down to greed and the managers should have shut the restaurant for this night if they were more concerned about a company party for their employees then their customers. I'm honestly not sure I will return.
We had Thanksgiving dinner here and it was excellent. Reasonably priced for the occasion and actually more food than we could eat. A fine, tasty experience. Unfortunately, the regular menu on New Year's Day did not compare. The serving lady was expert but promoted the more expensive items. The portions were small and I thought over-priced for what we got. I had beet risotto with lobster (odd combination). There was a small amount of risotto -- I'd say about half a cup and a bit runny -- with a sliver of lobster. The flavor of the risotto was good. The side dish of several stalks of broccoli was under done. My friends were happy with their meals but they were also well-lubricated. The chocolate dessert was quite rich. Looking ahead, I'll consider special occasions when there are special menus but if this was an example of daily fare, probably not.
Half the group drove in from NH the other half from RI. There was lots of traffic and we didn't arrive at the same time. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Thank you!
We were able to have a post Christmas celebration in a relaxed atmosphere. The food and wine were delicious. I highly recommend the clam pizza and greek salad.
chief's special for the night was blackened bass that was much less than our server led us to expect. The dish was poor and did not include the lobster or the crab portions that our server told us was part of the dish. I will not return. if you do chose to go be forewarned and prepared
