Scampo at The Liberty Hotel
Very nice dinner all around
Went for Sunday brunch. Food was amazing.
The best spaghetti carbonara we have ever had
Also the spaghetti with clams was astonishing!
Nice experience but not high end. Overpriced for the overall quality of eats.
Waitress kept trying to encourage more food and cocktails and appeared disappointed that we didn’t order more expensive entrees.
Scampo is always the restaurant I come back to when I want good food at a fair price. From the fava bean purée with homemade bread sticks to dessert, the food at Scampo is just delicious. I love to sit at the bar and watch the final food preparations. My dish of wild mushroom pappardelle with rabbit was excellent, the best rabbit dish I have had in recent years. The food at Scampo is always consistently good!
Great food !
The food was great but the service was spotty and it was super loud. Not rushing back with some many other good spots to go to.
The food was delicious! It came out the minute it was prepared because all the dishes were fresh and hot! The service was fantastic and very professional. The dining is pretty formal so dress nicely! Definitely going to come back. My only complaint is the dishes all seemed to be pretty salty but it adds good flavor.
The food was amazing and our server really helped in making our selections. Everything we had was so delicious, from the appetizers to entrees to the dessert. I will definitely be returning
The two courses my wife and I ordered were Italian with a twist. Delicious squash ravioli with pine nuts. We also shared a beratta plate (spelling ????). If I were home I would have licked the plates.
There were four of us and the entire dining experience took almost 2 hours from start to finish (1 hr 52 min!!!). Restaurant was 2/3 full when we arrived for our reservation and we had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Once seated the extra wait staff filled our water, but
our waiter did not come to greet us for at least another 10
Minutes. Our drinks were slow to come out and then our main course took about 50 minutes to arrive (other tables around us that sat later than us were not having the same issues!). Food arrived in two parts and one of us did not get part of the daily special order. We did not find out about the change on the special order until food was being delivered. Normally this would not be a huge deal, however our food came out piping hot (as if it had been sitting under warmers) and it was too hot to eat initially - we all burned our mouths on our initial bites :/
Waiter did not check on us until we were almost to end of eating. He then offered us cookies as a special comp because after 2 hours we did not want to sit around waiting for dessert which was all that was offered as a consolation to the messed up special order. As you can imagine the cookies we took away were stale and dry......not impressed by this restaurant. Would not recommend.
Accommodated with vegetarian option and excellent wait staff, Bit noisy,
Fantastic ambiance, tasty food and great swrvice
We've gone to Scampo often & have always had wonderful meals. We were entertaining out of town friends & brought them to Scampo expecting our usual wonderful meals. The food was shockingly sub par. The pastas were mediocre, the naan pizza (which we always order & enjoy) was dry & flavorless. Three of us ordered the red radicchio salad which came w/ 2 big fatty slabs of bacon--just awful. It was all so underwhelming--we were not only disappointed, but embarrassed as we were entertaining our friends who are huge foodies.
The sirloin steak looked and tasted like thin slices of old roast beef. Enough said.
Crowded and very noisy...excellent food choices, appropriate portions...attentive service
One of our dishes, brick chicken, was dry, tough and flavorless. Pasta was over cooked. Service was excruciatingly slow when we were trying to leave.
Absolutely delicious food and great and friendly service. A bit loud but not unexpected. Can’t wait to go back.
Scratch Kitchen & gluten free selection meant they were able to deal with multiple severe food allergies with ease. Surprisingly tasty for a hotel restaurant.
Celebrating my birthday. Food is really good but has needs pest control. We show mouse running under the table. We lost our appetite after we show mouse running around. We notified manager but no reaction from manager.
We had a terrific dinner at Scampo. Loved the feeling of the place and the menu was very flexible and interesting. We were able to enjoy an appetizer and we each had a half portion of spaghetti, which was still a large serving. Service was outstanding!
We had an excellent birthday celebration. Our server, Fredy, was outstanding! He knew the new menu well and was passionate and knowledgeable about the food. His recommendations were spot on. Will go back!
This was our first visit to Scampo and we reserved at the last minute so went early, which was great because it only got busier and noisier over time. Lydia Shire has created another Boston treasure with outstanding, delicious food and a varied menu for foodies and casual diners alike. The service was impeccable from every member of the staff. With so many fine dining options disappearing from the Boston landscape, we’ll definitely be back again.
We had a positive experience at Scampo, as always!
Ambiance fine. Server fine. white tablecloths . comfortable chairs. I generally judge Italian restaurants by pasta quality. Simple tomato pasta was AWFUL! Salty, mushy .
Everyone loved thier meal and the service. Great bartenders and waitress. Only complaint my veal was a bit tough... appies, crazy fantastic!! I would go again in a minute..
Only problem this visit was noise level. Very difficult to carry on a conversation. Thought it was because we were near a large party, but when they left, conversation was still difficult.
Unique dishes. All delicious.l!! Service was excellent. And we fortunate to have Chef Lydia Shire visit our table!
I was so disappointed with my last dinner at Scampo recently! I went there last year for lunch and loved it, but dinner was extremely disappointing. We ordered 3 apps, the grilled octopus, king crab and mozzarella bar appetizer. The portions were quite large and the presentation was pretty, but but the octopus was tough and tasteless, the crab bites were minuscule on top of lots of avocado. That was definitely overpriced for the quality. The mozzarella app was delicious. I had grilled salmon, my guest had the chicken. Both were good. We ordered the plate of cookies for dessert, which was filled with excellent and plentiful cookies. We each had 2 glasses of wine. It cost us $200 for two before tip. It was not worth the money for my budget. I would have preferred smaller portions and better quality.
We had a wonderful meal with a business associate/friend on a Sunday evening. Although the biggest draw is the setting-the old Boston City Jail ( refurbished into a luxury hotel) the food will stand up for itself. We shared a calamari appetizer for the table which was nicely spicy and substantial in size so it fed three of us. The entrees were excellent-duck breast was exceptional, a pizza was very fresh and tasty and the swordfish was not overcooked and dry as I have seen in other restaurants. The room is conducive to talking as the noise level was fairly low. Servers were attentive throughout. I would highly recommend this place for a terrific evening.this
What an amazing, exceptional place. I have never had a bad experience at Scampo. I chose going here for my Birthday. The room is beautiful with great energy. Everything from appetizer to desert was superb. No hesitation to say - go here.
Scampo has been one of our favorites for a long time. However we noticed a change in the food. The lobster pizza was over cooked and very greasy. The spaghetti with cracklins was overly acidic and over salted. The mains were very heavy and oily. I’m not sure if staffing changes in the kitchen but the food did not meet its usual upscale mark.
Been here multiple times and never disappointed. Looking forward to the new menu! Great service and reasonable prices.
Food was delicious and the service was outstanding.
Good service, atmosphere and location. The food was good but expensive. Went for Dine out Boston but was told that they weren’t servicing that menu. We stayed anyway but planned to pay $50 but ended up paying a little under $200. Would go back for drinks but not for food.
We came in with high expectations. Food was good, but not amongst the best we have had. This may sound snobby, but my Stella was not served in a chalice! Even bars I have been to almost always serve Stella in a chalice. To me this was somewhat symbolic of good and not great.
We rushed to get there on time, only to have to wait 20 min. Again, not bad just not great.
Ambiance was nice. Music was a bit loud. I could not quite nail down the vibe... Kind of hip music, with more traditional decor (?). Most of the tables were very large. With the loud music, it wasn’t ideal for an intimate meal.
Other higher end restaurants we’ve been to, they ask about your reason for visiting, and go the extra mile for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. not here. Again, not bad...
Our meal with tip was $152. A bit high for a good meal.
So I guess we left feeling good...
We ate at Scampo to celebrate my husband's birthday - great choice! We shared a salad and ordered separate entrees, which was plenty of food without leaving us stuffed. My lamb chops were amazing, and my husband's haddock parmesan was delicious. We ended with tiramisu (yummy). Highly recommend.
First-time visit during restaurant week. Perfect time and place, came for early lunch & sat at counter, with a great view of “mozzarella bar”!
Great soup, best raviolis ever, very good tiramisu, and attentive service!!!
Will definitely return to try regular menu...
