Scampo at The Liberty Hotel
Conveniently located to MGH, TD Garden, The Liberty Hotel, Historic Beacon Hill and The North End and The West End of Boston. Lydia Shire, the James Beard award-winning chef and pioneer of Boston’s culinary scene is the Scampo Chef along with Executive Chef Simon Restrepo and Alex Pineda. She had opened her own restaurants, from the departed Biba, Pignoli, and Excelsior Chef Shire later took over the historic Locke-Ober, where once women weren’t allowed to eat in the downstairs dining room to Scampo, which debuted more than a decade ago in the Liberty Hotel.
A culinary destination created by legendary chef Lydia Shire and the Lyons Group. In Scampo, Shire’s reputation for defying tradition translates into Italian-inspired cuisine unrestrained by borders, drawing on flavors from the Mediterranean and Middle East.
Scampo translates to “escape” in Italian.

Food is always amazing that the next day you are still craving it.
Food was delicious. Service was exceptional.
We really enjoyed every aspect of our experience there! We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great spot for dinner.
Thank you for the kind words. Hope to have you back soon.
Love it. Good and service was great.
Over priced food with small portions. The food we ordered we’re either too salty or didn’t have much flavor. I was very disappointed with the food and prices, but service was great.
Never disappoints! Food is consistently excellent as well as the service. Worth all hype!
Thank you for the feedback! Much appreciated.
Food is always exciting. Best Tuscan Brick chicken ever!
Thank you for the feedback! Hope to have you back soon.
Efficient and very good lunch.
Loved the experience
I was disappointed that they didn’t have any Gluten Free bread for their GF customers!
Outstanding meal and wait staff. They were able to accommodate a gluten allergy.
Food was amazing from the pizza to the mozzarella bar to the Filet. A must try!
The service was fine but the quality of all the food for the price wasn’t even worth the trip into Boston. I was extremely disappointed inviting friends to a very pretty hotel and the food wasn’t up to par.
Excellent time. Stayed at the Liberty for the New Years Eve Burlesque . Had a great time there as well.
Jason, our server, did a great job. We specifically asked for him as he served us at our last trip to Scampo's. He is a great server and someone the resturant should be very happy to have. We highly recomend Scampo.
A everything was absolutely fantastic. Noise level was as expected for New Years Eve. This is our second time here and we will return again.
Erin, thank you for the kind words, we appreciate the feedback! Looking forward to having you back.
Very good meal. Only one issue out of 9 entrees we ordered. Otherwise it was very enjoyable. Bartenders and staff were very attentive and provided great service. Would definitely recommend for a nice upscale meal.
The Hubby and I went for pre New Year’s Eve celebration The liberty hotel is just beautiful and Scampo is amazing The food was delicious got mozzarella and pruchetto and lobster pizza drinks were great too can wait to go back!
I would not return to Scamp. To many other better restaurants in the area
A truly outstanding dining experience, they have been creating excellence since their opening.
Easily one of Boston’s top restaurants
The drinks were great. The food was mediocre and not on par with what I remember (I have been here many times but not in awhile). Our waiter seemed only interested in chatting with the other staff. He acted bothered to have to help us when we needed something. I even had to get up and go get him a couple times.
The whole experience was outstanding! Food was reasonably priced and service was great! The warm atmosphere and lighting made it feel cozy. Looking forward to going back. To valet your car was a nice touch but be prepared to pay $35. I highly recommend the Sea Bass.
The food was flavorful and the service was pleasant.
It was a 10 meal. We met friends from Cape Cid for lunch and we were not disappointed. My husband has the seared scallops and I had the fish if the day. Both exquisite. Our friends has the margarita pizza our waiter was very friendly and attentive.
Family getting together for holidays. We had 3 kids in high chairs and were totally accommodated.
Love the warm atmosphere and various seating options. We enjoyed our counter seating overlooking the cooking stations and the fire of the oven. Service was great. We enjoyed both of our dishes very much. Unique combinations of food made it fun and adventurousExcellent quality and overall experience. We will be back!
I like sitting at the bar at Scampo, as it is easier to have conversation than from across a table. If you stick to appetizers and/or pasta, the prices are okay - entrees get very expensive and are a bit peculiar in their combinations!
Great service and ambiance and food was outstanding food
Never have I gone to a meal at Scampo that wasn’t enjoyed by all!! Such a hit with groups of people and with such high quality food. We love it and will be back!
So noisy. Service was fair - came to half of the table and did not circle around. Food was average and the prices were very high. Been going for years. Not anymore.
Shana at the bar was awesome!!!
I love Scampo- but the lobster on the pizza seemed a little old. Very strong fishy taste. Not the best I’ve had there. Was disappointed,
Took my team out for a holiday lunch. The atmosphere was festive, food was delicious and the service was top notch!!
Our server disappeared for 20+ minutes! The other 2 people sat down 5 minutes after us, had their drinks and appetizers first. We ordered right away.
We were annoyed by this! This is my second time there and it sucked
Wonderfully delicious dinner with great service and fabulous surroundings
Great atmosphere, excellent food, attentive service. Really delicious Caprese salad. Highly recommend.
If you are staying at the hotel it is an energetic lace with good food but remember it is expensive and very loud so difficult for a group in terms of conversation and $$$$$
Food was indeed outstanding. Our server, however, was young and very inexperienced. He did not know the menu and made multiple errors. He was very nice and apologetic but needed a lot of help. other than that the overall experience was fantastic!!
Not a good experience this time, food not as good as before and took too long to be served. Rethinking about going again in my next visit to Boston.
Thanksgiving was pleasant and very busy. So busy that the staff forgot part of our order, but did not forget to charge us for it. The food was decent, especially dessert. My major complaint and disappointment was that despite specifically calling and confirming that there would be vegetarian entrees for my daughter, there were none. This has never happened in all my dining experiences. This restaurant is not an option for any vegetarian, at least not on Thanksgiving.
Our third Thanksgiving dinner at Scampo did not disappoint. Food was great as was the service. Will probably return next year!
