Scampo at The Liberty Hotel
Brunch: Saturday and Sunday: 11:30am - 2:30pm,
Dinner: Sunday - Wednesday: 5:30pm - 10:00pm, Thursday - Saturday: 5:30pm - 11:00pm
Dined many times at your establishment, recently on a Sunday evening, service was great, ambiance is always nice, food wasn't as good as I experienced on my other visits. Cesar Salad was dry, scallop app was cold, and unfortunately 3 out of 4 of us ordered the same pasta dish (cabanara) it was way over sauced and mushy. The sword fish dish was very good. I really like Scampo and will come back. I would like to think it was just an off night based on it being a Sunday ??
Such a buzz busy worth restaurant in the Liberty hotel, loved the decor ambiance and the head chefs work Lydia Shire has and is doing. It’s such a place to check off, you can’t argue the food choices that’s offered, wine included too!!
Another awesome dinner at Scampo.
Very good food. Nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it. The lobster risotto and roasted cauliflower are worth a try!
Amazing brunch - can’t wait to take the entire family back before Christmas - ambiance, service and food fantastic!
Too loud but great food
The food quality has gone a lot! My friends and I weren’t able to eat our food. We let the server know. It was very disappointing. Scampo food used to be great , NOT anymore!
The food was decent, the wine very good, but the noise level had us shouting at one another.
Excellent, attentive service, well made cocktails and a solid wine list simply complement the unique menu items. Great seafood.
Scampo used to be wonderful. But now flavor is down and prices are up - the menu still sounds great but the dishes as delivered just don’t click.
Our initial reaction was quite positive. Lovely room, with tables amply spaced and comfortable seating: everyone at a four person is at a 90 degree angle to each other instead of two across. Outdoor lights shimmered and service was immediate and polite. Food, however, was big disappointment. Once I got past the heavy skin the chicken I ordered had NO flavor. Don't even remember the side. My husband had Bolognese which he ate and said was "fine", but no better than many other restaurants serve. Wine was good, but expensive which I would have accepted if the food was outstanding. The final blow for us was that at about 7PM the music was really cranked up. Why??? We could no longer talk, so left.
Wonderful as always! I actually stay at the Liberty Hotel when I come to Boston, because of Scampo! Amazing dinner and staff was always friendly. If you can stay the weekend, check out the Sunday family dinner. Well worth the cost
The food is outstanding!!! One of the best meals I have had in Boston. Loved the valet parking. The only drawback is that it is noisy and difficult to hear.
I normally don’t give reviews but i will start by saying that this place is very beautiful a bit pricey. Drinks were good food was ok.
Meal was good, expected much more based on the reviews and prices. We had a sweet potato pasta dish, suckling pig special, scallops, arugula salad and naan with prosciutto starter, all was good but not 5 star experience. With drinks and tip bill was $325. Imho there are better restaurants in Boston for the price paid.
We went for 6:30 Thanksgiving dinner- which was when everyone else also had reservations. There weren’t any empty spots. There was a 20 - 30 minutes wait for seating. However, they handled it very politely and once seated service went well. The food was very good - turkey was juicy, sides were tasty (the cranberry sauce was outstanding). We took leftovers home. To be fair, we were never rushed during our dining time and the $70. Per person seemed fair. On a very busy night, they did a good job.
I have had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner here before, so I thought with my mother visiting we'd try it again. And normally, I love Scampo--especially for special occasions. We had a lovely Prosecco in the hotel lobby, then I went to check on our reservation. What a disappointment. We waited over 45 minutes for our 6:30 seating (I could have been warned via Opentable), and my 80+ year old mother had to stand all that time. The hostess was absolutely lovely, but she was really overwhelmed with all of the activity--seems she could have used some additional help, especially with giving us a better idea of when we'd be seated--we could have gone back to the lobby to wait. The brussels sprouts were very under cooked and were tasteless, the turkey had about a tablespoon of dressing with it, and the chocolate mousse had as a replacement for cream a "dollop" of extremely sugary and crystal-filled meringue disguised to look like cream--it was not a complement to the mousse. My sea bass was lovely as was my pecan pie dessert, but we felt rushed and there wasn't really much "special" to my special treat to my mother and friend. I'll go back, but certainly not for any event like this.
It was Thanksgiving so hectic for all but our server was warm and friendly. The 3-course prix fixe had a little for all palates and it was good not great. The restaurant would be wise to book fewer people as families tend to linger and I think it would put less strain on staff and people who have made a reservation.
Fabulous Thanksgiving Dinner! Generous prix fixe menu - delicious from start to finish! Our server Fredy was friendly and attentive with a great sense of humor! Thanks to all for working on a holiday and serving us such a delicious thanksgiving dinner a la Scampo! We will be back soon!
We decided to try Scampo for Thanksgiving, their prix fixe menu. It was uniformly excellent. The service matched the meal. I am always leery of restaurant turkey, having been burned a couple of times. At the outset, I made an unusual request that I came to regret. I I ask for a sample. The kitchen was quick to oblige and supplied me with a sample that was almost the equivalent of a full meal. It was delicious and I didn't have the nerve to say, "Thank you, that's enough." So I left there stuffed to the gills and with two days worth of doggie bag meals to boot. I think Scampo is our new go-to restaurant for holidays and anniversaries. But that's the last time I'll ask for a sample. I trust them. You should, too.
I’ve been to Scampo for the past 5 Thanksgivings. This time, I was disappointed with the salad and the shrimp and grits, and the biscuits weren’t quite as tasty as in the past. The main dish, however, was loaded with tender turkey and the stuffing and mashed potatoes were excellent. The dessert was good, but not quite as good as in the past. It was busy and the wait staff worked hard. Overall, the price went up, but the food went down a bit (except for the main dish).
this would have been very nice but the 5 of us had turkey where the center was not only undercooked but raw. Hard to believe that whoever carved this thought it was acceptable to put on a plate
Fantastic food, scene and service. Wonderful experience all around. We will be back soon!
The price outpaced the quality.
The mozzarella appetizer with arugula and tomatoes had 3 THREE small dollops of cheese. It was delicious but 3 one bite snacks? At least make it even for the table and do 4.
Calamari fritti was good.
Spaghetti pomodoro was very basic, I expected something a bit more. The fava bean purée was bland. I would have preferred olive oil.
Sirloin was cooked well and delicious.
The breadsticks they just lay on the table are decent.
We got a complimentary plate of 4 small cookies due to our evening being an anniversary.
It was a nice night out but It is not worth a return trip with the amount of great restaurants in the area.
I like to visit Scampo when in Boston because of the great food and ambience. However, the last 2 visits have been a bit disappointing. We were a party of six at round table that may have ben a bit too large for conversation given the noise level where it was situated in the back near a waiter station. Even more distressing was that the waiter we had seemed inattentive to us in terms of making suggestions that were in any way sensitive to what we were asking for. He seemed to have only a rudimentary knowledge of the food and the wine and only recommended high priced items - so there was no value added by asking hm anything. The wine we picked was infinitely better than his recommendation. Not sure why he did not consult the sommelier if he is that clueless. Again, I like this place with such a solid menu but without help, our large group was lost at sea. Some more attention to the customer experience would really help!!! Please!
Great menu and atmosphere. Excellent service. Four delicious dinners.
service was horrible! Which gave is a bad vibe on the place. We were staying at the hotel and we did have our kids with us so thought they would try and get us in and out of this restaurant. But we were wrong about that! Anyway I did had a nice drink and the Apps were pretty good as well as the pasta. Just need to work on service and note that when a family comes in with kids don't keep walking by and try and the kids orders out of the way. my kids were starving!
Great! Lydia stopped by and gave a main course recommendation. Lively and fun.
Outstanding food and service!
You really feel like you're at a real restaurant - this is what they do. Although we had booked our reservation for six, three weeks in advance, our table location was poor. We did enjoy our night. I love the carbonara.
Had a reservation but sat at bar because it was very quiet when we got there, 7pm. Food was tasty, creative. It got more crowded as it got later with lots of people sitting at Mozzarella Bar/counter. You can sit at high tables, regular tables, the Mizzarella Bar and regular bar.
An overall extraordinary experience. Our wait staff recommendation was perfect. The meals were beautifully prepared and delicious. GREAT Bloody Mary!
HIGHLY recommend! Will be back!
Delicious - offers adventurous options as well as classics. We had a wonderful meal and service was on point.
Was was very good - prime rib and haddock entrees. Server was fabulous!
My first visit here. We sat on the mozzarella line and watched amazing appetizers being created. Dinner and service were truly outstanding.
Can’t wait to go back.
Outstanding, my only very minor criticism would be coffee could be a like more robust.
Lunch - best Pizza ever, salads incredible, we will be back for dinner
Food and service were excellent. The noise level in the evenings made it difficult to hold a conversation.
