Scalini Fedeli was opened by chef-owner Michael Cetrulo in 1995 and very quickly became New Jersey's highest rated Italian restaurant. Rated excellent by the New York Times in 1996 and New Jersey's favorite restaurant in Zagat's Survey in 2001 and New Jersey Monthly's best Italian and top 25 overall in 2007. Highlights from the menu include soft egg yolk raviolo with black truffle butter, pignoli crusted salmon with artichoke and mint agnolotti in a light tomato and basil broth and braised short ribs of beef with a cherry pepper and port glaze. Set in an historic building built in 1740, the atmosphere is slightly formal with Tuscan style vaulted ceilings finished with Venetian plaster. Tapestry and antique mirrors adorn the walls.

Heard rave reviews but I think people are living in the past when they talk about scalini. It was just ok the raviolo app was good my wife's pasta was very undercooked very hard, main courses were s big disappointment I order lamb and the description had no signs of balsamic vinegar but the sauce was loaded with it, my wife's veal chop ordered medium came rare and also very difficult to eat it's s tbone veal chop which Took over the entire plate, believe in a restaurant like this should come pre sliced we couldn't even cut it without making a mess. Just not up to par with what you hear about it, I really don't think we will be back just not a good first impression especially the fact there was only 3 tables in the restaurant. I hate to leave a negative review but I think the owner needs to know what is going on. Such a landmark for many years would hate to see it go down hill for minor mistakes that can be fixed.

Sorry, but not that impressed, food was mediocre (duck was chewy and the pork chop was flavorless), felt rushed, and over priced by about $100. We really wanted to make a memory but couldn't really enjoy the time we had there for what was supposed to be a romantic dinner.

One of the best meals we ever had. Food was out of this world. It was pricey, but I don't mind paying up for quality. Delicious!!!

Food is always excellent and service was exceptional. Would be nice if they could figure out how to create some bar seating to make use of when you are waiting.

For a pre-fix menu where the restaurant knew exactly what was to be served, the service was miserably slow. Almost had to ask for wine list after being seated and every course was slow. When the food came it was great but the extremely slow service and lack of attention made the Valentines experience quite diminished. Would have to think twice about visiting again.

Excellent food. Would love to know the recipes. The only issue encountered: my husband ordered Hennessy XO, but was served VSOP.

An excellent upscale Italian restuarant with lots of charm, warm ambience and excellent food. It was a great romantic place for my birthday and Valentine's Day. Also the chocolate dessert menu was to die for.....just awesome!!!!!

Scalini Fedeli is a long-time favorite! Had lunch here to celebrate an anniversary. Service was excellent! Our waiter was attentive, and paced our meal perfectly for a leisurely lunch. He even lit a candle in our dessert, much to our surprise. One comment: I have had the mushroom ravioli previously as an appetizer and enjoyed it. Today I ordered it as a main course. It is better as an appetizer, too much, too rich as a main course (my opinion, obviously).

The meal was good...the service was indifferent at best. This is considered one of the better restaurants in its area and the food was quite good and the wine list had a solid range of good options. But when you go to a high end restaurant and an arrogant waiter treats you like an afterthought...it's better to try a different option next time. Within a mile of Scalini Fedeli there are at least two other solid options that have the hospitality thing down a whole lot better: Serenade and D'Oro (a BYO).

Swoon food. Even old standards like veal chop Milanese are more succulent and tender here. Original preparations are also plentiful. Snapper with beets and a red wine reduction was outstanding. Portions are generous with several intermezzos offered. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. Price fixe dinner of $59 was very reasonable compared to other local restaurants and considering the quantity and quality of the food. Can't wait to go back.

Many dishes simply have too many ingredients. Where six would have sufficed, there are 12, so tastes and flavors are often hidden. Restaurant is pretty, but with arched ceilings of the original Bouley, it can be loud, even very loud, when it's full and you're sitting at the wrong table.

We were there on New Years’ Eve, when we booked the reservation the website didn’t say it was going to be $100.00 a person not included tax and gratuity. Website said $60 a person. Then when u open the menu it says coffee and tea included and so your telling me for 100.00 a person plus tax and gratuity they won’t even include soda, this place is a rip off. Also the food isn’t bad but the portions are small as can be, I left there hungry and get a load of this u can bring you’re own wine but to uncork the bottle it’s a 40.00 fee. Not one Tv for New Year’s Eve and they completely raised the prices so bad it’s unreal. Place is a 1 across the board

Hadn't been for a couple years, still the best food in NJ. Big, interesting menu, pasta and
sauces are high end. Pretty room, good service. You pay it, but it's worth it.

Celebrating our 35th anniversary, we were treated like special guests by staff. The setting resembles a Tuscan villa and the food could not be better. My husband’s Tuscan Bean Soup and my mixed greens with mushroom Napoleon were outstanding. His short ribs and my pignoli- crusted salmon were top notch. Dessert menu (half was chocolate delicacies) had many amazing choices. His banana tart with wafer-thin crust and my bittersweet chocolate truffle with pistachio gelato are memorable. Scalini Fedeli made our night magical.
