Scalini Fedeli - Chatham
Perfect setting! Excellent food and ambiance
Fantastic spot. Food was superb. I liked the menu layout and options. I had a duck breast and pounded pork chop parmigiano that were both outstanding. Wonderful surprise to see egg yolk ravioli on the menu and it was done perfectly. The waiter was fantastic. Attentive but not looming, impeccable timing on drinks and food delivery. So glad I took the chance based only on being listed as one of Opentables Top 100 romantics. From the Valet to the Coffee this would be a great spot for a date. The Prix Fixe works very well here and the menu was robust and impressive enough that you didnt feel the need to consider any premium items.
Outstanding service and dining experience. Thank you.
This was our first time and won’t be our last. The food was awesome!
Love this place!!!!
Will return again. Always professional service.
phenomenal restaurant for both special occasions and just a treat
The service was great! The portions are small and unfortunately we had a large noisy table next to us.
The reviews don’t do justice. The food is excellent and the staff is equally fantastic. You will not be disappointed!
Amazing food and great service. We have never been disappointed in all the years we have been going!
This was our third time back. Can’t wait to make it four
Loved this restaurant for so long. First time
2 of us didn’t love our food.
We had an amazing dining experience. The food was outstanding and the staff was wonderful from the moment we walked in the door. The menu has so much to choose from there is something for everyone. John took wonderful care of us throughout the evening. Will be sure to return very soon!
The service was very attentive and the food was excellent. Consistently a great experience.
Great food but did not love the service one bit.
The food was excellent. It is a very special place. Truly a dining experience.
The service is always high end. The attention to detail superior.
Go hungry and prepare to be treated to incredible food and doting service
The food is always excellent here. The service is great. I love this restaurant. The only problem with the last time I ate here was that two tables away was the horrible ex-governor, the everpiggish Chris 🤮Christie
Great Italian restaurant, had raviolo and pork chop, best ever !!!! Friendly service and nice looking room ,We shall return !
We just moved into this area and I was attracted to the fact the restaurant is in an old home everything really exceeded our expectations we had a fabulous time the ambience service and food were all top-notch we are definitely making this our favorite spot to go and they really accommodated me with my gluten and dairy allergies and the food still came out unbelievable!
Rated as best restaurant in NJ, but would not last for a month in NY.
Beautiful dining experience. They made it very special for us celebrating our anniversary and even comping is port wine. Food was amazing as was presentation, staff and service. Highly recommend!!!
1st time there. I was delighted with the amazing flavors.
Wonderful experience. Excellent service and incredible food!
Have to say....first time here and beyond what I expected. Brilliant. Beautiful, great foos, wonderful staff.
Great food, great service, good price for quantity and quality of food.
Maybe my expectations were set too high, but our overall experience was just okay. Service and food were good, but the restaurant was so dated and other guests so elder, felt like I was on a cruise ship in the 80’s. Orange ceilings, weird lighting - old furniture - lack of bar area - was just strange. Even the silverware was mangled and didn’t match. Food was good, but probably not good enough to warrant another visit. Maybe if they renovate.
Excellent experience as always. Great local place with top notch italian food with a NY flare.
Excellent and delicious food but everything was much too salty.
We have been going to Scalini in Chatham as very frequent diners for over 10 years. Since the change in management several months ago the single best thing about Scalini remains the excellent wait staff, all of whom are gracious and professional. However, the food has been uneven at best. The menu lacks any novelty at all, even seasonal - almost no changes have been made in the menu in the past 10 years, including the amuse-bouche of a single shrimp as a starter, and the same sorbet served as an intermezzo. In early fall 2 of the 4 meals were significantly overdone. This past weekend 3 of us went for a very early dinner and there were clearly problems in the kitchen. We waited 45 minutes for our main course, along with another small table, while the 2 large parties were seated and served. It also seems a little odd that a restaurant at this price point has no dress code-- or at least one that is not observed by management but certainly observed by other patrons. The value has declined for an increased prix fix fare.
Food was outstanding, service was excellent, ambience is very pleasant but the price is more than one can justify, for lunch, even where the food is this good. That could well explain why the restaurant was all but empty on a Friday at 1pm.
The food was great. This place never disappoints. It always amazes us that the restaurant and it's stunning interior design is part of a colonial home that George Washington visited.
The food is pretty good and the atmosphere is nice but it is not good value for money as it is very expensive in comparison with other high-end restaurants. The staff was very nice but had some distinct confusion about what we ordered.
We dined here on a Thursday evening with another couple to celebrate the birthdays of my wife and her twin sister. The venue is lovely with attractive arched ceilings and furnishings that provide a comfortable, old world vibe. My wife likes to feel "anchored" along a wall and we were seated as requested. Service by the maître 'd and the entire staff was excellent in all respects -- professional, friendly without being obtrusive, knowledgeable and helpful when asked for suggestions. The dishes we ordered were all outstanding and the amuse bouche and intermezzo were delightful and very tasty additional touches. The prix fixe dinner at $59 per person includes dessert and coffee and is a genuine bargain, especially since we brought our own wines and there is no corkage fee weeknights. In sum, our 45 minute drive was very worthwhile and I couldn't be happier at the experience.
My wife and I ate there on Christmas Eve and our son joined us for a dinner in early January. The total experience both times was excellent. We were promptly seated at our reservation times even though the restaurant was full on both occasions. The food was truly excellent -- so flavorful and each dish was served beautifully. Specific dishes we especially enjoyed were the mushroom crepe with crab meat, braised short-ribs, salmon and the pork shank -- but everything was remarkable. The service was timely but not rushed and all those who served us were very professional and personable. The desserts were rich and yet refreshing. As I mentioned, while the restaurant was full on both occasions, we were able to converse easily without raising our voices. The quality and quantity of the food on their prix-fixe menu is an excellent value. The entire experience was just what one would hope for in a fine-dining establishment and we look forward to returning and enjoying more of their menu offerings.
My husband and I dined at Scalini Fedeli in Chatham, NJ on New Year's Eve and it was easily one of the best dinners we've had.
The 5 course Pre-fix menu options were excellent and will put together, and priced right. Wine selections were good as well.
We will definitely visit again.
Amazing as always definitely a great spot to go to!!
Very good - went New Year's Eve for early dinner. Service was excellent as was food. We go a few times a year and it is usually it is a prix fixe of $59, but New Years must have been more as our dinner was well over $300 (before tip) and I don't remember seeing that on the menu. But big improvement on food and service from our previous visit.
I had a reservation and wasn’t seated until 45 minutes after my reservation. Ultimately had a really bad experience as the restaurant allowed other patrons to become so inebriated that it became uncomfortable for me and my family. Let’s decide whether this is fine dining or a bar crowd.
Ambiance is good with broad selection of quality dishes. Service was excellent and not rushed except at the end. We had a great time but it did get crowded and noisy about 8pm. I would recommend a weekday night
