Had a great birthday dinner here. Staff is pleasant and attentive. Food is delicious. I had an amazing mushroom and prosciutto pizza with an absolutely perfect thin crust. Will return next time we visit SF
Hostes and waiter (Jesse) were fantastic!
This was a business lunch and the restaurant made sure we had the ability’s to discuss business and get a great meal.
Food was very good.
Highly recommend for key client lunches.
Wonderful food, very attentive service and beautiful ambiance.
Didn’t love it. The food was average.
10/10 food - seriously. But server was a little slow and wouldn’t look at me when I needed her attention.
We would go back!
I love Scala’s. Service is always great. Food is good and it’s cozy there. I like it’s steps away from the main Union Square area and right next to Saks.
My favorite is theBoston Cream Pie.... Yummy!!!!
Always excellent food. Service is premier.
My favorite is the carpaccio, and linguini with clams, the pork chop and Calamari.
The short ribs were outstanding. The pork chop was very good too!!
The food was amazing and our waiter was fantastic!! We shared items and each one was great!! We started with the Beet Salad and Beef Carpaccio - so good!! Then we shared the Margherita Pizza and the Pork Chops - delicious! We were stuffed but went for the Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Budino - it was worth every calorie!!
Average food at best, expensive thought it would be a little bit of an Italian restaurant but it was American mostly. Beet salad was poorly prepared and dressing was light in flavor. Pizza was average. Would never go back
Good food, attentive service. Pork chop is great
We have eaten here before and enjoyed it. This trip to S.F. we stayed across the street so Scala's was a three minute walk from the hotel. Made dinner reservations on OpenTable. Confirmed via the e-mail we go the day before. Service was outstanding. Loved the food. Great bar. Enjoyed dinner so much that we went back the next morning for breakfast before heading for home.
Food is acceptable albeit obviously priced for the tourist market. Location is excellent. Service was very good. Noise level was horrible.
Jonesy provides amazing service!!!
Looked, felt just as expected. Excellent service. Food was fine
We’ve eaten at Scala much times and it’s good value for the money.
Fast, friendly service - good food for a reasonable price
Large party made it really loud and impossible to have conversations
Definitely would come back! So happy to have found this place.
Exceptional service from the moment we entered! Our waiter, Bruce, was wonderful and recommended excellent wine pairings for our meal. Many delightful dishes to choose from and serving sizes were just right for appetizers and pasta items we chose. Easy walk from Powell St. BART.
Went there for Saturday lunch and they only serve a limited brunch menu.
After 15 years having lunch there 6 x year this was a total disaster and we will have to look for a new place for future visits to SF
I love Scala’s I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years! Work meetings, family bday celebration’s ! Food very consistent service always excellent!!
Fantastic restaurant!!! Overall ambiance is perfect clean and well maintained! Service was perfect friendly courteous attentive and helped explain menu items in detail and made recommendations that were spot on!!!! Food was amazing super rich and flavorful totally impressed by the diversity of the menu and the quality of the food! I’m only sad that I’m visiting San Francisco and can’t eat there again SOON!
As you can see, I gave only 2 stars for service. Our server did not know when to stop with his silly jokes. We are having a business lunch and didn't appreciate being interrupted so often by his jokes. We like engaging with servers with a sense of humor-but they also need to know when to stop.
We had an amazing dining experience. There was more than enough food and it was very fresh and flavorful.
We were celebrating our anniversary and had a wonderful experience! First, we were greeted with champagne. Our waiter was kind, attentive, and very informative with the food and wine options. My fiancé has dietary restrictions and he was more than accommodating to ensure he spoke with the chef and shared if certain food items included things she could not eat. The food was incredible and beautifully presented. This restaurant is highly recommended for a fantastic fine dining experience.
we always come to Scala's when we come to San Francisco.
Decent food for the price. The service was a bit inattentive, and the restaurant is not very accommodating of substitutes.
The linguine and clams were delicious! We didn’t care for the veggie deep fried appetizer. It tasted just like oil.
Nice restaurant with good food and service
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience...and will definitely be back!
Not what it used to be. Mediocre
This was a special birthday dinner that I had set up for a dear friend. I informed the restaurant that I would like a special dessert to be presented at the end of our meal. She received a stale strawberry shortcake with a kid’s candle on it. Ho hum - very banal. Service was a bit slow. The pasta special was greasy and the salad had no dressing on it. The only good thing about the meal was the olive oil and bread. It’s not inexpensive and it’s not very good.
Unfortunately the old menu has changed, very low staffed and while we had a previous reservation the hostess wanted to seat us in the bar with a minor! Will never go back again
The restaurant was beautiful and we loved how it connected with the hotel next door (Sir Frances Drake) but it was extremely expensive for the food we purchased-each person in our party of 4 had pasta. I definitely think we paid more for the location and environment of the restaurant than we did for food.
My friend and I dined at Scala's for lunch before the theater matinee. It was abnormally hot outside and we were wary of no air conditioning but it was fine. The place was not full and we could eat, talk and relax until we needed to leave. The waiter was excellent - just enough information to help us decide what to eat and he checked back to see how we were doing and to refill our ice tea. We shared the carpaccio appetizer which had an arugula pesto and the capers were toasted which made the whole delicious. We also shared a cobb salad which was large with warm, just cooked chicken breast, fresh greens, and all the other ingredients one would expect. Definitely recommend for lunch. they also have good Arnold Palmer's!
The only reason the ambience was not a 5 star was because it was unusually hot and the air conditioner was not working wel. Otherwise I would highly recommend. The pasta is homemade and melts in your mouth
