Great food, excellent service! Won't hesitate to visit again for great Italian food in the Bay area.
As usual, another great meal at Scala's! Unfortunately, the evening had the fun taken away when our server dropped a bowl of tomoto sauce that flew all my brand new sportscoat. The manager offered a quick recovery and provided info to pay for thd drycleaning, but the damage was done.
Table of 14 near by made conversation impossible. AC not effective. I don't mind the inflated prices but ambience suffered.
Wonderful food (especially the pastas!)
Food was terrible. We were recommended by multiply people, read reviews, and everything seemed ok. We get all of our food, and it was terrible. Not sure if we just picked the worst things on the menu, or the chef was having an off day, but everything was seasoned horribly. The gnocchi was almost inedible.
We had a pleasant stop a Scala. The goat cheese salad was really good and the service was very friendly
The food and service were excellent.
The pasta was homemade.
The appetizer board had an excellent selection of meats including chicken pate.
The carpaccio and the gnocchi were tasty. The server was courteous. The noise level was high so conversation was a bit impeded but all in all, a good experience.
The bolognese here is amazing. I also highly recommend getting a drink at the beautiful hotel bar beforehand.
Pizza was nice and also the italian wine!!!
High ratings suggested a sophisticated Italian restaurants that offered nice clean dishes and dinner worth staying after the meal over a few glasses of wine. Fortunately the opposite.
It seems like they have a new chef. A lot of my favorites were no where in sight. I was craving them & couldnt get them even though they had all the ingredients because they had other dishes that had the components of my dish.
Case in point, wanted pasta vongole which is no longer on menu but had a halibut dish that had lots of clams in it. Still couldn’t make it. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Good food, beautifully presented by efficient and enthusiastic staff. I have always had a good experience at Scala’s.
Kudos to Josey for a great evening. Scala’s salad and the pappardelle were excellent. Great part of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel.
Gorgeous restaurant and great vibe. The hostess was welcoming and the service was good without being over the top. Dishes were a little fussy & over-complicated with 1 too many ingredients. The best dish by far was the pizza. We would probably give it another try.
The staff at Scala's was just lovely and the food was delicious. We got stuck coming into the city and had a curtain call. We called them and they worked with us so sweetly. They let us order over the phone and had the food on the table when we arrived. They saved our evening for us!
I used my credit card and paid to this restaurant. However, this restaurant charged more than the amount that I signed to the credit card company. It is fraud.
Great employees. Friendly and accommodating. Interesting menu. Good food.
Wonderful evening. Our server was right on top of things.
Great place. Good food, outstanding service! I would highly recommend.
Consistently great service and fantastic food.
Very limited menu. No soup because new chef isn't into soup.WTH--a 5 star restaurant that doesn't have a soup offering. That's not all they didn't have --were out of two of four side dishes because "we were slammed the night before." It's very sad, because Scala's used to be a GREAT restaurant. They have clearly lost their edge.
Great spot for a quick dinner after shopping at union square. Conveniently located next to Saks fifth ave
Las espectativas eran más altas de la realidad,
Love the "old world" feel with modern vibe. Great for intimate dining.
Wonderful food, friendly staff just a little bit too loud.
Great food and drinks. Good for during the week or weekend. The salmon was excellent and wine great. The bread could have been fresher but we will always go back. It's a favorite of ours.
Great ambiance -cozy! Great food and flavors. Excellent service! We have been going to Scala’s for 25+ years. Doesn’t disappoint!
Very good service Food was of a good standard On the whole a good experience
Server got 2 of 4 orders wrong, difficult to cut through the meatballs, how do you pass off skirt steak as the special?.. food was inedible. So many issues.. How is this place in business? Oh, because it’s a hotel restaurant..
Wonderful food and service. A little too loud for visiting, though. Would definitely eat here again when next in San Francisco.
A very enjoyable evening at this traditional San Francisco restaurant. Our waiter, Jeremy, was great. His service was efficient and he helped us choose appropriate portions. Not a cheap night out but worth the money for the home made pasta, fantastic sauces and desserts to die for.
There are visible mice running around in this restaurant. We showed the manager a video and there really wasn’t any concern, which is quite disturbing
We had a lovely evening - the menu was great and there was something interesting and tasty for each of us to enjoy. Wait staff were experienced and prompt. I was a little noisy for us - next time I visit I will make a point of asking for a quieter table.
Poor quality entree. The fusilli pasta was bland, the mushrooms were tasteless and the sun dried tomatoes tastes like they were out of a jar, not oven baked as advertised.
Food was as good as always, ambiance was perfect, and our waiter Bruce turned dinner with our grown son into a fun and humorous night for us all! Thanks for always giving us a great time!
1st time at Scala's but won't be the last. Great food and service!
