About Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar – Richmond Hill
It's a little of this, a little of that and a whole new take on Italian.
Our story is simple. Everything we can make fresh daily, we do. Including our hand-stretched mozzarella (made-to-order every day between 5pm & 11pm), our pasta, our signature 1/2 lb meatballs, our dough, bread and desserts.

Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar – Richmond Hill Ratings and Reviews
We were told to go to Austin so he would demonstrate how he stretches the mozerella and so on, when we went to him he looked very unhappy didn't say a word to us and had no idea what he was doing with the cheese. Just saw him pouring water and stretching the cheese again and pouring another bucket of water.
Was over all a good experience. Only thing that stands out is a desert my wife wanted that was only part of a specialty 4 course meal for valentines but since we ordered off the menus we weren't allowed to order it. The server didn't try to pull any strings but it's understandable.
The balsamic and truffle oil mozzarella appetizer was delicious (would have wanted more sauce/honey on the dish), however, the penne bolognese I ordered was extremely dry. I took leftovers home but I doubt I will be finishing it unless I make my own homemade sauce to drench it in. Also, for a bolognese, there wasn’t much sauce or meat in the dish. I thought if I mixed it all together it would make a difference but it didn’t whatsoever. The seafood fettuccini was better tasting but again, more sauce would have been nice. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
The server, Amber, was amazing. The kitchen was a little slow getting the food out during the prime lunch time seating. Without even asking Amber credited the bill due to the slow kitchen.
I have a personal disdain against these large open concept noisy Italian eateries filled with high-top tables (Jamie Oliver’s and Scaddabush). You want comfort when your seated; high tops are great at busy bars— not for a proper meal. We asked the hostess to sit in empty private room next to us with regular tables and booths, we couldn’t.
The service of the staff still made it a great experience.
I was surprised to see the chefs using a lot of plastic bags to mix the salad and to cook the food. I saw them taking the cheese out from the bag when they heat it up. I found this very unhealthy to put plastic bags under heat. This makes me not wanting to eat at your restaurant tgat many times times
The waiter was very helpful because he broke down the menu so that our first dining experience was very nice. Allowing patrons to watch the mozzarella making was a neat dining experience. We would love to have one of these in New Brunswick and hope to return in the summer to enjoy the outside pizza oven.
I was visiting this restaurant for the first time with a couple friends we hadn’t seen for awhile. Our understanding was that this was a family friendly restaurant with decent, but not high end cuisine. Not long after we sat down and ordered our drinks, the music throughout the facility was turned up, to the point that while sitting at a small 4 person table we had to yell at each other to communicate. We asked a couple of hostesses to have the music turned down and they appeared quite indifferent to the situation. If the sound volume was adjusted, it was not noticeable. Obviously this effected our evening out and made our experience very unenjoyable.
There are not many restaurants that I go to that I say I would “never go back to”, but this is certainly one.
Food was all right, basic service was horrible.
We ordered 2 appetizers, and 4 entirees. They had no strategy of when to deliver the food out. Everything just came at once, and they would basically just “throw” the plate on the table wherever they see space. I’m not expecting high end service, but there should be basic service of how you even place plates on the table to your customers.
We had a lot of left over, and asked for take out containers. The server with no sense of acknowledgement just provided one container, which wasn’t even enough to pack the take outs.
I love the food however the service was terrible. The restaurant was about 1/4 full and the service level was that of a place with no standing room.
Terribly slow, 15 minutes to get a drink. Another 15 minutes before we were offered any other drinks and to order. When the meal came, he never came back to offer cheese on the pasta, didn’t check on how our meal was, no other drinks were offered. My meal was cold and he never knew about it because he never came back while we had our meal.
It took 15 minutes to get the bill after we asked for it and another 10 for him to come back for us to pay. I will visit other locations but never come back to this location ever again.
First time at this chain. Not sure what to expect and glad I didn’t have much expectations.
First off, let’s talk about service. They say on the menu you can watch the mozzarella being made and to ask your server. I told me server but she never showed me where to watch it being made. We asked for hot waters and only one cup arrived. Waited for the other cup. Ask for a refill for hot water, waitress forgot. Had to be reminded. Got the bill but machine ran out of paper. Waitress forgot to bring a copy of the receipt and had to be reminded. Place was not packed so I think our waitress was just a space cadet.
Food was okay. Nothing special even though it was suppose to be freshly made pasta. Tiramisu was too much cream and not enough cake for my tastes.
Price for the food was a bit higher than I expected for the the quality of the food. Dessert was like $9-$10.
Probably wouldn’t come back. Nothing special for me to return even with the holiday card of $15 off next time you came to visit.
It was amazing service, server was very nice and brought out last minute a Bday dessert. Server gave us plenty of time to go over the menu, eat our apps and mains as well as refilled our drinks as she saw we needed more. Great atmosphere and lighting as well as design, great food.
The occasion was "4 friends getting together". Service at Scaddabush was very good. Staff was very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful - kudos.
The food: two of us had roasted fennel and sausage fettuccine; one had chicken limone, and the fourth had steak and fries. The pasta was prepared very well. Recommend it. Chicken and steak were quite good too.
The food is good and prices are quite reasonable - good value.
Ambiance: Decor is the standard high ceilings, brick and pipes . The section we were sitting had eclectic array of tables and chairs; nothing special. The restaurant was full. Most people were in festive mood and attire (office crowd). Music was blaring. You had to scream in order to be heard. We measured the noise level (love those apps), it was at a constant 90db-95db, and every so often spiking to 110db. It is like jet aircraft landing or power mower noise. We asked the waiter to lower the music; he did, but it was not of much help. It is the high ceilings and brick and pipe decor that makes noise to reverberate. Feel sorry for employees who have to put up with it throughout their shift. However, the noise level and music in the washroom is great.
I would try this restaurant again after the holidays. Perhaps it will be less noisy.
I had specified it was my mother's 70th birthday and were promised a dessert with candle to mark the occasion. when we got our bill we were charged for the dessert even though we were told we wouldn't be. I realize it was probably a mistake at cash out but we didn't notice until we got home as my father had paid the bill and didn't look at it closely because it was too dark for him in the restaurant.
