About

This restaurant is permanently closed. After nearly 3 successful years in Midtown Manhattan, owner of Sofrito, Genaro "JR" Morales decided it was time to expand and begin his search for a new location. Shortly thereafter, Sazon NYC was born. An exciting and unique addition to Manhattan's downtown scene, Sazon brings authentic Puerto Rican cuisine to the heart of Tribeca. This dual-level establishment encompasses all the vibrancy and delectability of its sister location but adds a downtown flavor all its own. Open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch: Sazon NYC offers its patrons a variety of ways to experience Puerto Rican cuisine at its best. Buen Provecho

Recommended by friend for dinner in the city. The food and ambiance was great, but the service was very poor. Our waiter was not very attentive, we actually did not see him much throughout our dinner. I’ll most likely not visit this establishment again.

They have the worst (better yet, nonexistent) customer service ever. Never going back.

Great service and fun atmosphere. We had a group of 9 and went with the pre fixed menu which had options for everyone and we loved it!

Hadn’t been here in years, and my girlfriend wanted Latin food. The food isn’t anything special and was actually underwhelming. The best thing was the free garlic bread... I hadn’t been here in seven years, and will probably be another seven years before I return.

The food and coconut mojitos were delicious! It was a colleague's birthday and they brought out a lovely dulce leche cake with sparkler. The birthday girl loved it . She always orders the tilapia there and this time I had it as well with the sweet plantains. It was a great meal.

Worst experience ever... After being seated and seating for 15mins, gave order for drinks, waited atleast another 15 mins before we decided to leave. Employees talking among themselves and or on the phones.... NEVER GOING BACK.

My wife and I went to Sazon on the 29th of September with reservations. The waiter took a good 15 mins to acknowledge us. He took so long that by the time he came we already had our food and drink orders ready. We felt rushed while giving our order. The waiter was practically walking away while we were speaking. The reservations were for 8:30 and the club downstairs was already pumping. The music was so loud we couldn't here each other at the dinner table. Not that great of an experience.

I ordered a grilled shrimp that was way overpriced and did not come with sides making the meal inadequate . Please lower your price that is commensurate with the size of the meal. Also their Salmon is dry.

Go for drinks and dancing only. Do not be ripped off.

I really can't say much about the place except it looked nice on the inside. We never got to order because we were ignored for 10 minutes , so between that and the extremely loud music we opted to leave. My daughters birthday was almost ruined but a near by place saved the night out. Not friendly for anyone over 40 for sure. The menu looked enticing but when you dont get so much as a hello after 10 minutes ....you walk.

That evening wasn't the usual evening I spend at Sazon. The service was just ok and the food was delivered luke warm. They ran out of bread and a delicious bean spread they usually have and it seems the drink prices double at the table. It's usually a much better time. I hope they step it up a bit.

Service subpar to the extent one is often trying to flag down anyone for assistance. Noise is also a big issue. Screeching music made it nearly impossible to think much less converse with friends.

Food saved it for sure. It was a semi club experience which is not what we were going for. They actually ID at the door to the restaurant. The manager at the door made it seem unreasonable that I asked why I was being ID at 5 in the afternoon. But flute food experience was great. Good size portions and fantastic taste. Service once we were seated was great. Minus of course the paper they put over the table cloth. All in all it seems the establishment doesn't quite know what it's going for but the food saves it.

Great food and service... went for their brunch, not a large crowd whereas I typically see the place packed. Only complaint was it was really hot in the restaurant, was informed it was an old air conditioner system... hopefully they upgrade the system soon

Visited for restaurant week. The food was definitely sub par for the price. For appetizer, I got the fried oysters...hard pressed to find any oyster in the almost burnt batter. Main course was the lobster roll, decent but very small. Service was atrocious. After almost an hour of waiting for dessert, ended up leaving without it...still hungry and out $55.

The restaurant week menu was diverse and the portions were huge for the price I paid. The coquito martini was delicious! My only complaint was the temperature in Sazon itself was very warm. It was a hot day and felt cooler outside than indoors.

It was my first time to dine on Puerto Rican cuisine and I am happy that it was at Sazon. Service was very good and everything we ordered was mouth wateringly delicious! My favorite dish was the delicious Sancocho, a hearty soup made with beef, oxtail, chicken and some root vegetables. I also had the savory Potato Puff filled with ground beef which was melt-in-your-mouth good! Prices were reasonable which added to our dining pleasure. I plan to go back with my friends.

A tad bit expensive, felt like eating at a regular (non-fancy) puerto rican restaurant. Not sure its worth the heavy premium
