Sazon NYC Ratings and Reviews
This place came recommended by a local. The food here was really amazing and loaded with flavor. The service was great. Our waiter was friendly and on point. I am Puerto Rican and I was really pleasently surprised as it's hard to find a really good Puerto Rican restaurant. The Alcapurrias were fantastic. The Mofongo and TriMofongo were absolutely perfect and served with ropa vieja that was seasoned to perfection. Really I am a picky eater and this place I will definately visit again. You know it's good when you don't want to leave any food but you just can't finish because you're stuffed!
Food was overall good. Appetizers were really sensational. The Ropa viejo was a bit tough & too chewy. Would not recommend. Arroz con pollo was average. I have had better. Desert was good. I would not return because the place was LOUD. I could not have a conversation with my friends...and this was only a week night! I do not understand why the music must be so loud and booming. They were not even playing Latin music!
Overall I would say Sazon was a good place. Service was excellent. It's not a place I would go back to only because of the loud noise factor.
Sazon Is where I go if I want to celebrate someone special like my mom or boyfriend. the staff are always professional and nice and always very attentive. For mother's day I took my mom here and she had a great time especially with the menu created special for mothers day.
Too noisy for a restaurant.
Food not so good & trust me we eat out very often. The main plates had more rice than anything.
We had ordered arroz con mariscos, fried fish with coconut, arroz con camarones, sopa de la abuela, alcapurias, tres leches & bread pudding.
Sazon restaurant will definitely not let you down. The food was probably the absolute best I've ever had and I'm spanish, lol. The pernil was crisp on the outside, yet soooo juicy on the inside. I can't wait to go back!! The drinks were great, everyone in my party really enjoyed their food. If you haven't tried it, it's a NYC MUST!!! Sazon you guys ROCK!
My Lunch date and I LOVED Everything about this restaurant from the Ambiance to the Drinks to the Food and Service had a GREAT experience here I will definitely go back and I will advise others to do so as well Thank you for being a 5 star Restaurant to me.
Me and my boyfriend went to Sazon on Febuary 27,2015 for our 4 year anniversary.. He's a picky guy and I can only get him to eat from cuisines he knows which is Puerto Rican lol.. So I chose Sazon.. We enjoyed ourselves. It was a good thing I made reservations because the place was packed a lot of people waiting to be seated.. We sat down 2 minutes after we arrived (awesome sauce!!).. The drinks were well made, servers very attentive and helpful.. Food came out in a timely manner and was well prepared! We weren't rushed to pay and leave which was great because we got to enjoy our time out together.. Only downside is that birthday song every 5 minutes lol I encountered the same thing at Sofrito but if that's my only complaint then I really can't complain lol! We will most likely be back again! Overall great experience!
Food, service and ambiance was really great. Its definately a neighborhood gem that you wouldnt think it would be in the WTC Area. The only thing i didnt like is that they add the gratuity into your check espeialy when your only two people i can understand a party of 4-5 or more than its ok to add it. But when your a couple or with another friend let the person decide the tip not added automatically.
The music in the dining room area was way too loud. It almost simulated a night club and that I did not like at all.
I found myself screaming across the dinner table considering we were having dinner. The music should be at a decent amount of decibels so that customers can be able to hear themselves speak with the person they are having dinner with.
The atmosphere here is great. The service is fairly good; although I did feel slightly forgotten once it started getting busy. But we already had our food so we were chewing in happy silence anyway. The food here is very, very good. The portion sizes are almost absurdly large for most of the entrees. The only disappointing exception to this was the ropa vieja; but if you had a set a barrel of that in front of me it would not be enough. I did order the restaurant week deal, so I expected a smaller portion. It was just very obvious when I saw larger plates completely covered in food, while my smaller plate was...less than completely covered. Kvetching aside, this is a great food spot. The ambiance is nice, the staff friendly, and the food is good. They don't try to get too fancy; they stick with the basics, which is nice to find in NYC. Especially for large groups (both of my visits were with more than 6 people) they are really good. At least during weekday lunch hours, I cannot speak towards the dinner hours. They do have a rather large bar, which leads me to believe that they have a jumping Happy Hour scene, but that is another update for another time. ;-)
I have been here a few times and each time service and food. This is a well kept secret.. The ambient is outstanding. You are not rushed and you can really enjoy the time there. I went during restaurant week and wasn't impressed. The cost was just the same. I have never had a bad meal at Sazon.
There were plenty of smiling faces and everyone here seemed to enjoy their jobs. That's hard to come by anymore in Manhattan. Our waitress Amanda was amazing. She had answers for all our questions about specials and brunch dishes. If she wasn't able to answer our question right away, she'd take note and come back with an answer after speaking to someone more knowledgeable. The food was amazing and everything was plated well. Our group of 4 ordered the brunch special which included the bottomless drinks for an hour and a half. And, Amanda didn't disappoint because she never once let our glasses get close to being empty. Bring your appetites because the portions are pretty large. So glad we discovered this TriBeCa treat.
My suggestions for Sunday Brunch: calamari or sancochito and ropa vieja a caballo.
I went to Sazon for an early dinner with a friend. The food overall was good.
Its the service that was terrible. Our waiter practically ignored us the entire time. As we tried to get his attendtion a waiter from another table came over to asisst.
We asked to take our leftovers home and I requested a little more rice be added to the take out bag he said sure. Then when we got the bill we learned the side of rice was $8. Where does a pint of rice cost $8. And we should have been told at the time that it would cost that much.
Then, to top it all off after I added my tip to the bill my friend realizes that there was already a 20% gratuity added.
Again, he never said anything!
Great place to celebrate someone birthday. Food and drinks are good and the service was outstanding, one dissatisfaction was the fact that we had to wait 1:30hr to be sit because one of my friend arrived late and they won't sit you or allow no one to be sit after you were sit.
Ate here at 7:15 on a Saturday night. The music was so loud that I couldn't speak to my dining companion without shouting across the table. The food was good, but between the loud music and constant "happy birthday" performances by the wait staff, I could barely hear myself think. The volume would have been appropriate for a club, but I have no idea why the music would be so loud in a restaurant. The hostess also failed to mark our reservation as honored, so I had to challenge the no-show marking with OpenTable. Not a pleasant experience. I will not be going back to Sazon.
