Say Cheese! Restaurant & Cheese Ratings and Reviews
Delicious! But if you're in a hurry I wouldn't recommend. I had just a grilled cheese and tomato soup and it was so good! Also had a side Caesar with a couple of sundried tomatoes that were so good that it makes me what to find out where the heck I can get them! Oh and the pickles we exceptionally good! Only negatives would be that it took way too long to bring out the good and it was kinda smokey in the restaurant which left an odor on my clothes after I left.
Say Cheese exceeded expectations! Our waitress was so kind and helpful, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely! It was a great night with a great restaurant, it is really bringing up the appeal of West Reading and helping to shape the area as a local hot spot! We hope to be back soon!!
I really enjoyed the atmosphere inside, the rest of my experience was questionable.
For starters, we had to wait ten minutes for our table to be cleaned dispite a room of empty and clean table. I ordered the salmon burger but there was so much dill overpowering the patty that had I not ordered it myself, I would not have known I was eating salmon. It was really disappointing.
My husband repairs their kitchen equipment if they ever experience an issue, and this weekend he finally took me to Say Cheese to try their menu myself! When I say WOW, it’s a huge one. Let’s start with the atmosphere….you cannot duplicate the pose of this place anywhere else. Belt driven ceiling fans caught my attention, the music sweeps you to another era, the lighting lifts your mood yet sets you down softly. From the bold yet delicate touches from floor to ceiling including the fresh water bowls out front of the restaurant for passing canines, to the character of the nook-like seating on either side of the entrance. The wait staff are clear medalists! Our waitress was superb, made us feel as if we knew her for years. Coming to a place called Say Cheese, I of course had to choose the mac & cheese as my main course. Smokey creamy rich cheeses envelop perfectly prepared pasta, you can’t go wrong choosing this board! My husband chose the short rib that is amid beautifully roasted vegetables, settled on the most amazing serving of grits we have ever tasted! Each element of this fare had its own spectacular flavor, but together they were sumptuous! We swooned over this dish, and thankfully had some left over to bring home (which I hid in the back of the fridge drawer so I could finish them myself haha). We were guided to save room for dessert, a peach upside down cake with an angelic treatment of cinnamon cream, my oh my….my husband and I were close to battling over the last moiety of this delight, next time we will order one for each of us! With each plate, the kitchen canton not only hit the nail, they surpassed the peak of expectation, well done. You now have ambassadors for your canteen, we will be back!
Delicious food. Had 3 meat/ cheese combo, lamb shank and short ribs. All good was delectable. Sat up in front window but due to acoustics, we could hear every word from table behind us. Kind of ruined our romantic anniversary setting. Food was so delicious and server Thomas was so kind and accommodating that we could overlook the noise. Don't think we would choose to sit up there again though.
Nice atmosphere with harpist playing. Table for two very small and shoved against a wall. Appetizer was the cheese and fruit board which was $14 for 6 pcs of cheese, 6 grapes, two strawberries, relish and garnish. The smoked salmon mac and cheese was excellent. Waiter was less then interested but the food runners/suppprt staff ladies were Awesome.
We have eaten here several times and have always had an excellent meal. . .and this time was no exception. I had the salmon mac n' cheese and my husband had the shortribs and grits. Both were wonderful, well presented, piping hot, etc. Our only disappointment on this visit was that the music and noise level were so loud that the four of us at the table could not talk to each other. We haven't had this problem before, and hope we don't have it again. It was very distracting from our delicious dinner.
Started out with a platter of 3 cheeses and 2 meats which were terrific per the recommendation of the server. Followed up with the fig and Brie appetizer. The Brie was perfectly fried, accompanied with the sweetness of honey and fig. Braised lamb literally fell of the bone and was scrumptious. My fiance had the pad Thai salad with the Atlantic salmon, which was cooked to perfection.
