Very loud atmosphere. Service was slow and not attentive. Food was average to below average for the expense
Food was sub par for a hotel that bills itself as top notch. Waitress was nice but not attentive.
We made a reservation for 7pm. When we arrived, the hostess told us it would be a few minutes before our table was ready. We stood at the hostess stand for 15 minutes and then she told us to go to the bar because our table wasn’t ready. We went to the bar but there was no seats available at the bar so we stood. The hostess came back to get us about a half an hour later. There was also a wedding right next door with extremely loud music. Even when seated at our table, the music from the wedding was so loud we couldn’t hear each other speak. The food was bland and ordinary - nothing special here. We paid $140 for two and left very disappointed.
Very disappointed. Service was very slow. The drink for my wife was wrong and we already had our salad by the time she got her cocktail. The entrees were ok but we never received any bread. When we ordered coffee I asked our server if they served bread with the dinners she said yes and offered it to us with our coffee. She said it was very hectic but we couldn’t understand that with a 50% occupied restaurant. Lot’s to work on if they want to live up to their hype! Very overrated!
It was 1 hour from the time we were served our salads till the Entrees were delivered. Crab Cake was all filler.
We are residents here for 5 months and will not go again.
Went to Stone Harbor for a day of shopping and selected SAX for dinner. The room was lovely (would have been even better or a chilly winter evening with the fireplace on), our server - - Emily -- was fabulous and the food was delicious! There was a very active bar area which was also appealing
Enjoyed it thoroughly.
Burger was delicious and a great value. Fish was expensive but overcooked and only ok. Service was good, but not great for the level of the restaurant. But, we will be back because of the lovely, quiet ambiance.
This was a wonderful restaurant. We had an amazing meal and great wine. Our server was great even though the other server had called out sick that day and she was by herself and very busy. The restaurant is small and the food was fit for foodies. We would definitely go back.
The food and atmosphere were fabulous for my birthday dinner with my sons. I only gave the service a lower rating for the following reasons.Made a 6:30 reservation for 2 which I had to up to 3 and called around 5:45 pm.. Took over 6 minutes just to get a person on the line to change it. Very polite when I did get someone. When we got there no one was at the hostess stand and there was one or two servers assisting with the only 2-3 tables in the dining area. It took almost 10 minutes for someone to come up just to seat us. I even asked outside and the gentlemen out there said he could not help me, that was separate. Our server was very nice and informative once he did finally come to greet us. Luckily we are in the business and we understand lack of staff and longer waits after the summer season but a few staff saw us standing there for so long and no one ever asked about or said someone will be right with you. Ok, now on to the meal. It was fabulous from beginning to end. We had appetizer of tuna, chicken lettuce wraps and the truffle Mac and cheese. Our dinners were the salmon and branzino which were fresh and delicious. our desserts were the gold topped macaroons and chocolate/strawberry mousse cake. So all in all I do highly recommend SAX for the food.....just be careful that you may have to wait for the experience.
We were looking forward to showing off the deck to our friends for cocktails but a wedding party was using it. They really need to start telling patrons when we make a reservation that a wedding is scheduled. Inside bar is always packed and very noisy.
Dinner selections were just okay.
The parking (valet), service and meals were exemplary. The only downside was the room which overlooks the water was hosting a wedding. We were seated on the city-side. Should we return we’ll be sure that the water-view is available.
Service was somewhat slow, I thought an additional waiter or waitress would have been helpful - especially for a holiday weekend. Also there was a wedding in the room next to the restaurant and the noise level was uncomfortably loud.
The Wedge was excellent! The short ribs and meatloaf were tasty! Our server and his bus boy couldn't decide who was going to refill our bread basket, so we waited 10 minutes by that time we finished our meal. Very small dining room and tables were very close and it was very loud. Nothing special.
Tim is a terrific server!
Server, Tim, was really friendly - maybe a little TMI, but a good guy, and his service was thorough and timely. Atmosphere is refined, classy, but not fussy, and nicely lit. Walking in was a little crazy, because the bar next door was really loud, but not a lot of noise carried over into the restaurant. Food was just ok. Appetizers were good - loved the mac and cheese. Filet mignon, which was around $40, was tough and fatty; seafood combination-type dish was very small for the price. No excuse for that. Would go again, but maybe stick with appetizers and drinks because it was pricy for just ok, and there are other better places in the vicinity. Bar next door (part of same hotel) was hopping, but we had our teenager with us so couldn't stop in. Looked like fun!
Great food and great atmosphere! Our waiter, Tim, was the best!
The decor/atmosphere is definitely upscale, without being overdone. (This is the shore, so that's good!) We shared the Red Pepper Shrimp and a salad for starters; the shrimp were good, but probably should have been called "Buffalo Shrimp", as that's essentially what they were. For dinner we had the Cioppino and the Braised Short Ribs, and shared a bottle of "The Prisoner" wine. All of the food was enjoyable, if not particularly creative or amazing. The service was also pleasant, but nothing particularly notable. Overall we had a good experience.
Celebrated with family and friends at Sax. A beautiful restaurant with excellent service. The food was amazing. We had the short ribs, NY strip steak, salmon and meatloaf. Everyone enjoyed their meals, especially the desserts! The cornbread is a must, the clam chowder was excellent and the Caesar and wedge salads were a great way to start off. Highly recommend!
Very nice restaurant
Amazing all around - excellent food and service. We enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at SAX.
Everything that was ordered was just phenomenal, from the Appetizers to the main course.
Overall very good
The food was absolutely fabulous! My husband and I both had the filet and it was cooked perfectly. Waiter Justin was very attentive and on point. The ambiance was very very nice as it was my husband's birthday dinner. Wine selection was also wonderful. Look forward to returning.
Walked into an empty restaurant on a Thursday Night. So no excuse for slow service. Wedge salad was awesome- very fresh plenty big to share. The lettuce wraps we lacking flavor. Branzino was good. Meatloaf got a big build up of “award winning” but did not wow us. Will still give this place another try, maybe an off night.
Food was excellent and over server Rodman went over and above for us. We will be back for sure.
I dined there on 8/21/19 and it was quite noisey. People around us were noisey and the noise from the bar area poored in when the door was opened. Our food was good. One drink was good, but sent my friends drink back and got refunded. Maybe the begining of the week would be better.
Too noisy. Could not have a conversation with my guest. Tables too close together allowing no privacy.
The food was very good and the price is what you’d expect for a nicer restaurant like this. The service was excellent and our server Tim was outstanding. He spent time with us explaining the menu options as well as some friendly conversation. I recommend this restaurant and will be back again.
Food was good, but it took a very long time to get even thought the restaurant wasn't close to being filled. People who walked in 20 minutes after us got their food before us. No manager came to explain what happened.
Excellent restaurant and Tim is an excellent server!!!
Food was average at best and the server couldn’t even take the time to tell us the specials.
White sangria was too sweet and served with a maraccinio cherry! The app special, leek and mushroom ravioli was good. The corn bread was dry, the tuna watermelon app was eh (couldn’t taste any watermelon). The pork belly sliders were a good flavor but really tough! Hard to cut through and chew and the purée on the plate didn’t go with the pickled veggies. The bolognese was nothing like a traditional dish...all tomato flavor. Probably too much paste. My son ordered the filet without peppercorn crust. They served it with so much crushed pepper he thought it was spicy. The sauce it was served with thankfully was on the side. Tasted like all vinegar. The truffle frites were over cooked and soggy. The carrot agnolotti with lemon ricotta app was NOT a carrot shaved like a pasta noodle...it was pasta stuffed with carrot ricotta. Didn’t taste lemon at all. And drowned in pesto. I think the name should be changed. When you say Carrot Agnolotti that’s usually a play on words, the carrot would be lightly cooked, stuffed with lemon ricotta, drizzled with pesto. That sounds tasty. Maybe topped with some mint. And the server never asked “how is everything”, didn’t notice that my son asked for no sauce no asparagus and mushrooms instead and of course it was served with that and he had to ask for mushrooms. I asked for items in specific way to create a 3 course meal and of course it wasn’t brought out like that. Very disappointing especially for Stone Harbor.
We had dinner for my birthday. The food was delicious and service from our server, Tim, was outstanding. We have had him as our waiter quite a few times and he is always great. Our only complaint was that the air conditioning was not on high enough, so it was quite warm.
Food was mediocre at best. When I asked the waiter to recommend a dessert, I was told none were really that great.
All great courses were enjoyed dining with my wife. Food was fresh and vibrant. All the staff were courteous and spot on. Great dining experience!
So there was a wedding & the noise level was off the charts. We requested a table as far away as possible but we could still hardly hear each other. I ordered the filet & it was so tough I could hardly cut it. Then, a bus person repeatedly tried to take our plates before we were done eating. The only bright spot was our waiter, who did the best he could under the circumstances...
Great drinks and food. But the wedding band in another room detracted.
We had a wonderful waiter who was very attentive. We found the food to be average. Nothing stood out. The worst part was the noise. They were having an event in the room next store and it was completely distracting for a quiet evening at a nice restaurant and made conversation difficult. The waiter continually apologized.
Our family had fantastic meal, which included Oysters Rockefeller, raw oysters, monkfish, cioppino, and truffle mac & cheese. I highly recommend all dishes listed!
