Brunch Buffet was good. Try the waffles!
Great place to eat, comfortable, warm and friendly
My steak was served cold. Waiter took away bread that was not finished without asking.
65 min to get dinner served. worst experience I have had there, but will go again as prior experiences were good
Pleasant atmosphere for my wife's birthday. Our server was fantastic! They cook a great steak!
Have not had a great experience at one or more Sawmill locations, but the Sherwood Park location turned out to best location. We will return.
Calamari was chewy. Otherwise it was all good
This is our third time dinning at the Sawmill in Sherwood Park and all three times we have had a great experience. Food and service were both great. Love the prime rib! Keep up the great work Sawmill.
No one that ordered a drink liked their Cocktail. Need to redo drink menu
We had a large group of 7 & we had to ask for salt & pepper on our table as there was none.
My hubby & I arrived after the rest of the group were seated & all had a drink. I think the waiter should have come to ask if we'd like a drink a bit quicker
Overall it was a pleasant dining experience Remarks would not deter us from coming here again
Very 'grumpy' service. Hostess was super friendly and so the waiter was somewhat a surprise. Food was incredibly SLOW... but worth the wait as it was well prepared. Would have been a more enjoyable experience had the waiter even remotely appeared to enjoy his occupation.
The evening was enjoyable overall. My husband raved about the ribs, my salmon, however, did not taste or smell fresh and I found the vegetables to be saturated with grease. I enjoyed the wine list and overall we had a very nice evening. We will go back again but I will be more specific on my food choices and ask more questions about the food preparation next time.
Overall, the restaurant was quite good. Our server was quite new, so there were challenges you'd expect because of this. (Couldn't get a bottle of wine open, didn't ask everyone for drinks/appetizers, got some food orders entered wrong, didn't refill drinks, etc.) Server was pleasant enough though. Food was excellent, and overall it was still a good time.
The Monday night Steak & Lobster special was good. It was not a busy evening which lent for an opportunity to sit and chat after dinner. The only negative was, we had ordered a salad to have prior to dinner but we had not even finished eating it before the main course arrived. By the time we were ready to eat the main course, it was cool. Overall, it was a nice evening to celebrate a friend's birthday.
although the server tried hard, they were clearly not up to the task. Management was called in to help on an order error and dropped the ball. Senior management needs to pay attention to how customers are being served
We use this location as a special events restaurant because we are never disappointed.
Sawmill has a rewards program and you are to give your card to the waitress after your meal. There are no names on this card so waitress often has to take a card one at a time if you have more people with these cards at your table. Our waitress lost my card on this visit (she gave it to another customer). Seems simple enough that she just gave me a new card and said she would transfer the points, except I find out the old card gives you the $25 reward for every 500 points and the new card only $20!
We arrived to the restaurant a few minutes before our reservation and the hostess seated us right away. We arrived to our table received our menus and awaited our server to take our drink and app order. We sat for what felt like 10 minutes before being greeted by our server. He took our drink order and did not ask if we wanted an appetizer. Again we waited for a longer than normal time for our drinks. By this time the table beside us, who sat down after us, were getting their apps and we were still waiting to order. He dropped the drinks off and looked like he was walking away so I said "wait we would like to order" He took our order, delivered our appetizers got our main course order and disappeared. Our water glasses stayed empty most of the time there and on 3 occasions we had to ask for water. We had the main course brought to us by a runner. I had the prime rib rare which was fantastic, my wife had the ribs. Her ribs were over cooked and extremely over sauced. We would not order the ribs again. All in all food was okay service was poor. We were celebrating our anniversary and honestly this experience put a damper on the day. We did not speak to the manager we just wanted to leave. This was one bad experience of many good ones. We will try again, and just hope it is good like all the other times.
Decent room. Waiter was new and seemed to be afraid of us but I think he was trying hard. The prime rib was far too fatty, all three of us left over half on the plate and the Yorkshire pudding certainly wasn't " like Mama cooked it ! ". Exceptionally good baked potato though ..... and we were allowed more than one mint, which was nice.
Buffet was fantastic!
Dark, no windows. Food not inspiring, very ordinary. Too many selections left on buffet, yet none special. Staff willing, friendly, helpful but not really able to change anything. Had disabled person with us. Distances to walk too far. Desserts all made with cream cheese, poor selection. Expensive for our out of country guests who wanted to treat us. Music loud.
I booked the sawmill restaurant for a coworkers going away get together, all the parties in our group had never been there before. upon arriving i see we are put ina booth, one of others in our group is a gentlemen in his sevnties, it was most uncomfortable and inconventent for all the parties on his side to have to get up and always slideing over for the numerous occasions for the acess of the food in the buffet, while the selection of the food was good,....if some one an allergy....the majority of the dishes didnot have a name plate,... the shrimp was a real disappointment...... it was very small, and the tails were still attached. so when you ate it you were spitting out the tails.....it also did not make for clean presentation on the buffet table. an other bid disapointment was the dessert table...more variety was needed,.....other than several
cheesecakes, layer cake and sticky pudding, and the same dated chocolate fountain ,......it lacked excitement.it was the same old, same old stuff,. the price for the brunch buffet was within reason. i really am not sure i would recommend, or ever come back again.with the economy and money being tight,.........i would definetly explore other places.
thank you.
We had the Thurs. night special. It was excellent; steak was cooked perfectly. The price was great and our waitress was attentive but not intrusive.
Prime rib melted in your mouth & the biggest Yorkshire pudding anywhere!
The service was okay, a bit slow. The food was good. We were there for a birthday and have always been able to use our Sawmill card for the birthday discount. Now rules have changed yet again. Specials are not included in this deal, all 4 meals need to be over $25 and now the card must be used by the birthday person... so are we expecting the birthday person to now pay for their birthday dinner??? We will not be returning as it is now too difficult and cumbersome now to take advantage of any "perks" of the Sawmill card.
Excellent food and great service. Overall an awesome restaurant.
My husband & I celebrated my 60th birthday with a special lunch for two on Tuesday, May 31st. The service was quick but not rushed and the food was delicious. Our server brought me a special birthday dessert treat after inquiring as to the occasion for our visit. The restaurant was very quiet which was appreciated as we have been there on other occasions when it was not. I was able to use my $25 gift certificate plus points on my Sawmill Loyalty Card to reduce the cost to zero; a special birthday Bonus for me & my husband! Thank you for a very wonderful afternoon.
We were in a group of 12. Some of the orders were completely wrong and some of the food was overlooked. Disappointed in the high price for what we received.
Great selection and friendly service.
Our waiter seemed nervous and although attentive not very friendly. My hisband's steak was rather bland and he was disappointed. For fine dining in Sherwood Park, we expected a better experience.
I know we went on Mother's day, a day when you expect it to be busy, however, even with a reservation, our table wasn't ready for almost a half hour past our reservation time. Our meal was not as good as we have previously had at this location either. The kitchen made an error on my husband's meal, not once, but twice. We decided not to report the second error because he was too hungry to wait for them to refire the dish yet again.
One of the items I ordered was the escargot. This dish left much to be desired. Although I will likely return to the Sawmill in Sherwood Park, I will definitely not order the escargot again unless they learn how to properly prepare the dish.
Too many restaurants seem to encourage young women servers to wear inappropriate clothing. The effect is to cheapen the effect. Unfortunately this restaurant seems to have given in to this trend. Short skirts and heels are fine for the club scene but food servers should be able to wear sensible shoes and clothing that doesn't make them anxious. We liked the food and the environment but were disappointed to find this restaurant just another imitator of others. It used to be classy but alas, its now just another mediocre offering like the others.
Service and food great as usual. Excellent for special occasions
Lost our reservation after we checked in. We're not seated until
I complained. No apologies or such. Food was great but very crowded and noisey
We were there for Mother's Day brunch. Food was okay, nothing special about a buffet. Omelet was greasy. Fruit wasn't replenished the one and a half hours I was there. And then our server gave us carnations. We asked for roses and she said there were none left. Then we edited through the front door and saw lots and lots of roses where the manager gave us some. Just pathetic how lazy she was to get the nicer flowers for women on Mother's Day!
The food is really good and our waitress was amazing. If you book a reservation during a busy time, even weeks in advance, don't expect a table inside. We were going to be put outside at the patio on a very cool windy early May morning. We eventually got seats on the bar side but at least it was inside.
The food is always great. They keep the background music low so that you can have a conversation without yelling across the table. The service staff are always pleasant and helpful.
Husband and I were out for a special evening. Our server was good when he was around. Good was delicious even though our steak was over cooked. I ordered a Caesar to drink and it was disgusting it was so spicy - the manager brought me a new one it was tasteless - so I drank that one and figured I would give the bartender one more shot - it was even worse than the first - my husband tried it and spit it out!!
Excellent value for this brunch. Food was great and staff are very friendly.
Overall experience was great, the serving staff were on their game, perfect timing all the way.
Food wasn't that great. 4 meals, had the same complaint. Seemed like they reheated the ribs and baked potato. Good spinach salad though. Hardly seemed like the value of the meal was worth it. Wasn't very busy, but we never had any one tend us until the end. Never got water refilled etc.
Hate to give a negative review, but to be honest, I don't think we will go back. Disappointing, as we were hoping to find a favorite local restaurant that we could go back to.
We went to the Sawmill for a special occasion, and really enjoyed the food, which was hearty, and was presented nicely. Service was attentive without being in our face. It's a bit pricey but we have never been disappointed in the quality of the food.
