We had a wonderful experience with our server Terrance. He truly made this evening very special for us and it is not an occasion we will forget anytime soon! We were very impressed with the quality of our meals. We ordered Escargot, Crab-stuffed mushrooms, the Steak and Lobster special (Monday nights) and also the chicken cordon bleu. Terrance was the most prompt server I have had in any dining experience, he refilled my water glass so quickly and quietly that I didn’t know he had done it. He also had a card signed by the staff to wish us a happy anniversary. I am absolutely enthralled by the experience we had this evening and we will be back soon to try the Tomahawk steak!

I would not recommend the sawmill buffet.
Off the menu we’ve never had issues but the buffet definitely lacks the quality they are known for

Food trays were not filled many were not even out at the buffet . Desserts were empty.
the whole place seemed to be in chaos. Could not get napkins, or cutlery, or refills on drinks.
Even the manager said he would bring napkins, and they were a no show. Three requests later and we took some off another table.
The crab was absolutely terrible, who cooks crab legs in tomato sauce.... yuk
Prime rib was cold.
This was not a very enjoyable Mother's Day experience.
We will not go back

$39.95 for mother’s day buffet book res and was told dining area to busy u will have to sit in lounge. Go to buffet and had to ask for butter, shrimp sauce exc. everything was very low or they were out of. Very poor customer service. Very poor food quality for the price u pay. Will not be returning there.

We are frequent visitors to the Sawmill. Our past visits which have always been great lead us to booking our Mother's Day supper there this year. However we were asked to sit in the lounge as we had no children. My parents who are 83 & 81 are now subjected to dining where loud back ground music is playing and they have a hard time hearing. We had a 5:30 reservation thinking the "Buffet" would be fairly fresh and the not lacking. Not so! We found that much of the "buffet" appeared to have been ready for quite awhile resulting in it being overcooked, not hot, trays where close to being empty, condiments used up. We went from a Sawmill experience to a diner buffet. Will not go for the buffet next year as for our $270 bill (does include tip), we could have had a sit down supper that was enjoyable. They advised they had a seniors rate and this was extended to one at the table. In the quest for volume, quality was lost.

Went for mother’s day brunch. Food was tasty but mostly cold. Service wasn’t great, slow, drink orders were incorrect, not available for things like napkins.

Service was very good - our waiter appeared before we knew we needed anything. Glasses were topped up, dirty plates were removed. As it was s buffet, platters were replaced when food was diminishing. Unfortunately the chicken was over cooked and dry but the beef at the carving station made up for it. There was a very good selection of hot and cold items and a fantastic dessert table. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

I have been to the sawmill 5 times. The first 2 times (within the last 4 months), the service, food and ambiance were absolutely exceptional. The next 2 times were not up to the same standards but were still more than acceptable.

On the recent visit, it seemed the service was seriously lacking. From our perspective it was as though you had an inexperienced server working in an understaffed and disorganized environment. Can’t really blame it on her as it seemed she was doing her best. And she also maintained a great attitude.

In short, slow service, average food and below average experience.

Willing to try again, but losing faith as the Keg is much more consistent.

Both couples were celebrating our anniversaries so it would have been nice to at least receive a free dessert to share. All they said was happy anniversary. But the food and atmosphere were great and the server friendly and efficient.

We made a relatively last minute reservation online for three with a request to have two appetizers ready for us shortly after we arrived. We were seated and given water then our server mentioned she knew we'd ordered appetizers and that they would be out shortly. A drink order wasn't taken and our appetizers were served. While eating them we stopped someone going by and asked if we could order a bottle of wine. She left, taking our menus but not our orders and then came back with the menus. Our server came back for our orders after we'd finished our appetizers and we asked her to check on our bottle of wine. She came back apologizing saying the other person was new. This wasn't the standard we were used to at the Sawmill and I said so, also asking what was happening tonight. She said they'd had trouble with staff not showing up (shame on you all) and having to cope. I said it was good to know what was happening to have an understanding of the kerfluffle. The wine came and shortly after a manager came by to apologize and said they would by the wine for us which we thought was very nice. While we were eating staff were moving tables and actually carried two booth benches right by us which was a bit unusual, I thought. Our meals all were very good: teriyaki salmon bowl, salmon and beet salad and chicken Neptune. Overall it was a good experience. It is a nice atmosphere. We'll go back.

Sorry can't remember server's name but she was very polite, knowledgeable & always a smile on her face. I would recommend a better steak selection though. What you have in my opinion is a lower grade of steak. Overall I will be back in future.

Other times we have eaten here the service has been better so even though this experience had poorer service, I don't believe that the norm. We went to the Sawmill for Sunday Brunch. It is probably the best brunch available in the city. Lots of variety as well as a made to order omelette/pasta station.

Took my wife out for Valentines dinner and had pleasant experience. Restaurant was not busy service was good. Took reasonable amount time to get food. Food was pleasant and satisfactory portions. Took family out 4 day later for Family Day supper. Again restaurant was not busy. Service was very slow. Took long time to get food to table. Food was decent but some plates were cold from sitting too long. Service was not great. Food quality is good but service is marginal at best.

Service was absolutely horrible for the first half untill our waitress got off shift and we got a new one . Didn’t get our complementary champagne untill the new waitress showed up . Food took almost an hour and half to get and was mediocre at best. portions were tiny for the 200$ bill I had for 2 people and one drink each very un happy as of now I will not return waste of 200$ and 2 hours.

Was surprised by the limited menu for Valentines Day- was unaware. Price was not what we had planned on when coming in.

Food was delicious though.
Service was excellent- although we felt like we were being a little rushed through.

The actual temperature in the restaurant was very cold and uncomfortable -- many patrons had their jackets on, like myself, while dining and no one acknowledged it...

Overall our experience was ok, but the restaurant was a bit cold while we were there and in turn our meals cooled off quickly. Our son is vegan and because it was Valentines we had a Limited menu so all he was able to order was a house salad. That was upsetting for us since I felt he was not totally satisfied with his options. It wasn’t completely the restaurants fault, I should have done my due diligence ahead of time. Our bill for the night was rather high, probably won’t return anytime soon.

Food took forever to come out even thought restaurant was very quiet . Received cheese toast 5 mins before meal and only after server came by and said oh no one brought out cheese toast? Was luke warm not hot. Took forever to get refills and server was very pushy with $99 tomahawk steak even after told we were not interested. Ceaser salad had hardly any dressing and lettuce was brown.

I have only ever had the prime rib. Typically excellent. This time it was mediocre and it wasn’t even on prime rib special night which I would expect a slight decrease in quality. It was my wife’s birthday and we inquired about the large sign outside which read $25 off on your birthday. The server knew nothing about it so we paid full price. The booth which we were seated at had white stains on the dark fabric on the seats and seat backs. The mirror surrounding the booth had dirty hand prints. Etc etc. I would expect these things from a regular family restaurant, however for the high end prices and classy atmosphere of the sawmill I expect better.

We went to dinner with another couple. We came to the Sawmill for prime rib. After sitting down and ordering drinks and appetizers we were told that they were out of prime rib so that was disappointing. Our drinks came out and the one drink was wrong it was blended instead of on the rocks, the server knew it was wrong but brought the drink anyway and then asked our friend if he is ok with blended, he, of course, feeling bad said yes. Our appetizers, calamari and crab cakes took over 30 minutes to come out, our server did apologize for the wait but still that is a long time to wait for appies. Our server recommended the steaks because they were out of prime rib. My husband and I ordered the striploins, cooked the same way and the other couple ordered the ribeyes, cooked the same way. We ordered before we received the appetizers. We arrived to the restaurant for our 7:30 reservation and did not get our food until 9:10! From there my steak was completely over cooked, very very tough. My husbands was ok. The other couple was the same, hers completely over cooked and flavourless. Our friend had ordered the stuffed potatoe and when the server brought out the food she said they were out of stuffed potatoes so she gave him the mashed potatoes instead. It was terrible and for the price you pay a real disappointment. We did tell our server and they took the two steaks off of the bills but still both bills were over $100.00 for a very rough night. Very disappointing, we will not return.

My husband arrived on time with a 5:45pm reservation and was told the table would just be a minute. He sat for about 10min while others walked in with either a 6pm reservation or none at all and were immediately seated. He finally spoke up and asked if he was forgot about and was looked at surprisingly and told oh, it will just be a couple of minutes. My daughter ordered hamburger sliders that none of us would eat, the hamburger was strong and looked pressed and the bun on 2 of them was rock hard. My filet was ordered medium and came out seared and extremely rare and asked to send it back. When brought to the waiter’s attention he tried to pass it as medium-rare (it was dark red all the way through). My husband also ordered a steak, only his came with a side of parchment paper (photo attached). Again, that was brought to our waiter’s attention and he simply replied “oh, that comes on the bottom of the steak and no apology whatsoever. My husband suggested it be brought to the chef’s attention. I will say that out of everything, if you are craving just mashed potatoes, they were good. We requested our bill and even passed on my daughter’s free ice cream as we just wanted out. The waiter came back with the bill and said “oh, even better, I let the chef know and was even able to inform the manager”. Again, no apologies or anything. I would think that would be a regular process in situations such as ours, to have the Manager come to the table. It was our first and definitely our last visit to the Sawmill! I normally would not write a poor review but I have never had an experience as disappointing as this!!

Food was amazing, have yet to be disappointed. First time dining in the lounge however, and it was a nice feel. Wait staff was friendly, but service wasn’t great. Had to ask for utensils, waited awhile for initial contact with “our server”.

All I can say is that there is a reason there was a 2 hour wait at the keg and we could get in here right away. Our reservation was for 615 and I didn’t receive my steak till 8. The food didn’t come as described in the menu. I didn’t get to eat with everyone else at my table. The waiter lost our ticket and came back to the table 15 minutes after we originally ordered to take our order again. Having said that, they did take my steak off the bill but o my after I asked for the waiter to do so.

Excellent service. Some of food as good, some not. Took longer than usual for meals to come and some of the food was cold. We were thinking that 2 of the meals sat and cooled down while 1 was freshly made (and had lots of heat). First time not so great, as it’s always been great in the past.

Great menu selection for New Years, we had a table for 12, all of our meals came out at the same time, all cooked to order and very delicious.
Highly recommend the restaurant and our server was amazing

We went on NYE and the servers in the lounge had risky dresses on that were showing a little bit too much. The menu was very confusing and lacked option. The music and ambience was slightly confusing. They had pop and rap music playing, but give off the vibe they should be more upscale. Our server was good, but seemed slightly uncomfortable when asked questions.
