Sawmill - Fort Saskatchewan
The perfect atmosphere for any occasion, nestled within a corridor of lodging accommodations and with direct access from Highway 21, the Company continued its modernizing restaurant vision of providing guests with comfort and relaxation through extruded wood and art finishes while accenting the surroundings with modern day design features reflected within the seating, lighting and architectural footprint.
This rural market operation has an adapted floor plan and offers its world renowned Alberta "AAA' and Certified Angus Beef as its culinary legacy. The menu cuisine is unparalleled in quality and simplicity and regarded as one of the finest dining experiences ever.
Food was cold and terrible. All of the orders were incorrect. Terrible dining experience.
We absolutely love this restaurant for the food especially, but throw in a few specials (lobster) and great wine and it's over the top. Our server was excellent. Never felt rushed but every course was right on time. Thank you for a great birthday supper for our daughter.
My food came out undercooked and cold. They also gave me a baked potato with no condiments so I couldn’t eat. The wait staff were too busy to track down and by the time I could had someone my husband was almost done eating. They were very apologetic about it but if they were better staffed this cooks have been avoided. It kinda ruined our 20th wedding anniversary dinner. This is not usually the normal. In the past the food and service has been excellent.
Attentive staff was appreciated, food good overall except shrimp, a bit tough, didn't finish them.
Went for Sunday brunch as a family ! Value was fantastic! Food was great !
If we would have seen the menu & prices before we ordered our drinks, we would have left. The prices were too much. The coffee was cold, the steak over done and my prime rib was thin and tough.
The desert was good
We made the reservation in the bar as that was the only seating available, which was not an issue for us as we don't mind bar seating. We arrived about 10 minutes early fully expecting it to be very busy and we were happy to be seated only 5 minutes late as it was Valentines day. We sat down, looked at the menu and decided to pick out a bottle of wine and then our food. After 25 minutes of sitting there and not being acknowledged by the wait staff while three other tables that arrived after us received drinks and appetizers we decided to put our coats on and leave. Truth be told the wait staff was very busy and physically running around, not withstanding the fact that is was Valentines day it was an incredibly disappointing experience, as we generally enjoy the Sawmill. If they are so understaffed for such a busy day that they were not able to service a full dining room, then they shouldn't fill the room.
The front of the house kept allowing people to

Our reservation until we got upset and he finally sat us, then they screwed up my steak twice, and then he came over at the end and asked me what I felt was reasonable, honestly I wanted the entire bill free. They need to get it together
It was Valentines Day and it appeared that they were short staffed. The waiter made multiple comments about being behind and apologizing for the wait. The food was below average for the price and the cheese cake was frozen. We waited 40 minutes after finishing our main course to get desert. Then another 15 to get our bill after desert was completed. ☹️
Very great service, the food was delicious. We had a wonderful night. Will surely come back again.
Went here to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. The 2 for 1 prime rib meal was fine and of good value. Service was terrible. Finished plate were not picked up in a timely fashion. Between the end of dinner and being able to pay took better than 30 minutes. Usually have a good experience at this location but after this time I may try elsewhere.
Our server, Bentley, was fantastic. She is always pleasant, upbeat and efficient. She remembers our previous drink orders and is very diligent about ensuring our food is great, and that our cups and glasses are never empty.
Our server, Donald, was outstanding. He was both professional and engaging. Our order was taken promptly upon our arrival.
Service was good. Food was ok. No complaint but nothing special. $20 for breakfast buffet which included coffee and juice was good value
Everything was excellent - it was a totally enjoyable evening. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
All 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. We started off with an entrée of salt 'n pepper & sweet chili Thai wings that were delicious. Everyone ordered either steak or prime rib and they all came cooked as per our individual requests. Our Server (unfortunately, I can't remember her name) was attentive but not so much so that she was interrupting us. By the time we were finished, we had no room left for desert. We were seated in the back of the restaurant and it was quiet & comfortable. I would recommend the Sawmill to my family, friends and co-workers.
Although reviews indicated this was an excellent restaurant we found the quality to be lacking. Unfortunately items were overcooked, sitting too long, or tasting like processed food (especially the desserts). Disappointed and will not be returning.
The sawmill was busy so the first approach was a little slow but then our table was taken over by the hostess and she was fantastic. The food was very good. We enjoyed our brunch.
Food was middle of the road. Steak was properly cooked but about 25% gristle. Veggie were properly cooked. Dessert was still slightly frozen when served. Service was slow.
Donald, our server, was fantastic. With a table of 12, six adults and six children, he was amazing. Great service, friendly disposition, and very personable. Thanks for a great evening!
We all thoroughly enjoyed both the prime rib and the filet entrees. Their new "Chocolate Dome" dessert was both entertaining with its presentation, and delicious! Our server, Savannah, was excellent!
We brought our family for an early Christmas celebration before my one son left for the mountains. It was a perfect evening all around. The added bonus of live music was also very nice.
Taking advantage of the 2 for 1 prime rib special made this an affordable night for seniors. Add the wine and desserts, brought the price up to a “Special Occasion” type of cost. Not terrible but a bit high for the average pensioner.
Food was very good and the service was prompt and attentive to our needs. It was nice to see all staff willing to pick up dishes or bring coffee/water even they were not our server.
Having Harold R. there to entertain was a positive note. Live dinner music has been a thing of the past and it as nice to have local talent in the restaurant to listen to.
Overall, a positive night out and not the last we will enjoy.
Thanks for the personal touch Tasker. Great to meet you again.
It was a nice evening. In the reservation I asked for a less busy table but we were placed next to a very large group. Had to have a conversation for the first hour. Victoria did a great job serving us and leaving us to ourselves when needed.
The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and fast.

The food was great but the service was disappointing even though it wasn’t that busy. We did not get something’s asked for I.e. horseradish for the prime rib and the stuff for the bake potato came out just as we we’re finishing our meal.
This was our fourth dining experience with the Fort Saskatchewan Sawmill in 2019. The reasons why we would probably not recommend going to the Fort Saskatchewan Sawmill would probably be summed up in are that the staff seem or do not seem to care largely on the clientele who dine here in regards to the orders and the pricing associated with ordering here.
A few examples would be in taking the orders and not explaining the extra sides that they recommend with the entree are not included in the price of the original entree order and then the bill arrives showing the side orders are extra priced.
Another inconsistency is when ordering the staff sometimes do and sometimes do not asked how you would like your prime rib cooked. This is really a basic area that every server should learn before being put onto the floor taking orders from the clients.
The pricing amounts as to ordering drinks within the ‘happy hour’ time slots does not follow suit either. When the signage on the website and posted on the walls of the establishment clearly show the ‘happy hour’ prices and times to order for both wine and highballs then the bill arrives showing the standard pricing and not the ‘happy hour’ pricing is again another area where the Fort Saskatchewan Sawmill fails its clientele.
It should not be the responsibility of the clients who frequent this restaurant to point out the flaws with the service and the pricing and in as such many people like us do not contest the bill as it is very uncomfortable dealing with staff delivering this poor service result. The basics of restaurant service are not established within this restaurant and as such are why we would have a hard time recommending this location as it barely meets the ratings given by us.
Everything was fantastic! The service was great, which really starts the whole dinner off nicely. I ordered the bacon wrapped scallops, which were awesome, and the large cut prime rib. It was one of the best prime rib dinners I’ve ever had. I dined alone, but the manager spent some time talking with me , which was very nice.

Prime Rib was a bit tough. Creme Brulee dessert was not prepared normally. Was hot all way through, should be served with cool custard underneath crisped sugar topping.
Thank you Canobe for joining us on your special day! we hope you enjoyed your evening, and we thank you for your feedback. Great dinner night November 15th live music by Harold a local artist and 2 for 1 Prime rib that evening! reservations recommend! 780-992-2255.
My parents, children, and wife (6 of us) went to the Sawmill on a Monday night. We had an excellent server who was really attentive and friendly, too bad I don’t remember her name. The food was awesome. Many of us ordered the Monday night “Steak & Lobster” special. The appetizer salads included with the meal were really big and delicious. We had the option to swap Prime Rib for steak which some of us did. The prices are in line with any other steak house of this caliber you would find in the Edmonton area, no complaints. Ambiance was nice, really quiet, great tasting food. We also asked for minced raw garlic to put in our butter for the lobster which they provided free of charge and if you haven’t tried it...it’s amazing!! The restaurant and bathrooms are noticeably clean and the seating is comfortable. Will definitely return when looking for a really nice meal in Fort Saskatchewan. Well done Sawmill!

Our experience was great! Victoria was our server and she was very pleasant, helpful and did an awesome job! We waited a bit longer than expected for our dinner, but when it came, it was delicious! Thanks to the Chefs and server for a wonderful dinner!

Food was great, however, it was our server “Donald’ that stepped out for us. His attention to detail was exemplary and just made the whole evening a very pleasant experience.

Nice evening, great food, good service!! The manager came over to our table more than once to see if everything was good!!
Thanks so much!!
As long as the two for one prime rib special is available, we will be recommending the Sawmill as the only place to go to for the value of the meal.
Exceptional service by Donald-best server by far! Food was great, as usual. Was a great dinner enjoyed by our entire group.
We had a reservation for 6:15pm, and were prompt. We had 7 people including a little one under 4. The food was good but the service was unacceptable. Our food didn’t arrive till after8pm. Was pretty trying having a little one sit that long. No one came to apologize or let us know when our dinners was coming. I was so disappointed as I bragged about your service and food to my company who were visiting from another province and to have them wait that long when the restaurant wasn’t that busy was embarrassing. Our server was polite but extremely slow and didn’t address the the wait. We were very hungry waiting. It seemed like the other waiters/ waitresses were running fast and keeping their customers happy but not ours. The manager walking around but not helping kinda insulted us too, he could have came and addressed the very slow service but didn’t .
We would like to thank you for your valuable feedback and offer our most sincere apologies on our shortcomings during your last visit. We do like when our customers brag about our service and food. So when it does not happen we takes things to heart. Do please contact the store so we can correct the situation to your satisfaction. Thanking you in advance for the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to exceed your expectations. We await for your call.
We had their steaks and the quality was great, cooked to perfection. The noise level in the dining room was very comfortable for visiting. Our server was very friendly and competent.
Always a great meal and service with a smile 😊 convenient location, good parking 👍
