Diner was great afterwards went to the lounge I did not realize until after what my bill was, it was half price wine night and I thought also glasses I ordered a glass that was three dollars cheaper then a bottle a good server wood have recommended that and told us we could have took the rest of our wine home.
We had an entertaining waiter. You may also get a personal song from the singing manageress.
Always a reliable place to get great beef and it's nice to see a broad selection of beers on tap
Great service. Diverse menu. Good ambiance in a comfortable settung.
Food was cold service was slow (our waitress came by 3 times in 2 hours) hostess came by to see how we were enjoying our dining experience as my wife found hair on her plate lol
Robbie Burns Day at the Capilano Sawmill arranged by Miss Rosie (Manager of Capilano Sawmill). Although, we didn't make dinner reservations with the knowledge there would be "Men in Kilts", we had the pleasure of having Bruno as our competent and prompt waiter. Bruno's service was impeccable. While we dined, the "Men in Kilts" (thank you Rosie!) were eloquently piping haggis from the dining side to the lounge as several large tables were being seated, the thought does run through your mind . . . oh, oh, how is the service going to be with all the distractions? Well, I promise you Bruno does not disappoint; his attention to detail, polite query regarding the food's preparation and it's temperature then casually refreshing our drinks all while managing the other large parties. Samjay and Bruno make the dining experience feel like your dining with people much more enjoyable than family. It is evident that Rosie has what it takes to make a team and mentor the atmosphere at this establishment. I need to discuss the food we ordered the seafood and steak combo which included a choice of salad or soup and dessert. We each selected an opposite dish to try each. I ordered the baked potato soup. Seriously, this delicious concoction could quite possibly have been made in my own Grandmother's kitchen. The soup's texture, aroma, temperature and taste accompanied by sprinkles of green onion and bacon were possible why I made it through the gruelling work week just to get this soup in front of me. I could have ordered the cauldron and skipped everything else. The salad was crisp, cold and fresh with a balsamic vinaigrette to compliment the cranberries, goat cheese and walnuts. Wait! Our steak and seafood were on they're way! Grilled to perfection, savory and juicy the steak was a perfect size, accompanied by the baked potatoes (I know, I know) and butter roasted root veggies. The chocolate bread pudding made me forget the baked potato soup.
I had a business lunch meeting at the Sawmill and the staff made the experience better. They setup our group in a semi private room which allowed for great discussions. The food was amazing as always. I'm never disappointed with the quality of the food at the Sawmill.
We have dined here a number of times and always enjoy, however our last visit was not our best. We were here on Jan 14th, a Saturday night. It was fairly quite and the staff was superb, our waitress took care of our little guy for a little bit so that the parents could eat in peace for a few minutes, she kept drinks full, and was attentive. However it was the food that was a little disappointing. There were 6 of us dining. 4 ordered the prime rib, 2 of them were okay and the other 2 were WAY overdone. One person even said that it hurt to chew it was so overdone - and it was supposed to be medium-rare. My ribeye was ordered to be medium-rare, and it was very rare.. it was quite late so we did not complain at the time. I just hope next time is much better.
