Diner was great afterwards went to the lounge I did not realize until after what my bill was, it was half price wine night and I thought also glasses I ordered a glass that was three dollars cheaper then a bottle a good server wood have recommended that and told us we could have took the rest of our wine home.
We had an entertaining waiter. You may also get a personal song from the singing manageress.
Always a reliable place to get great beef and it's nice to see a broad selection of beers on tap
Great service. Diverse menu. Good ambiance in a comfortable settung.
Food was cold service was slow (our waitress came by 3 times in 2 hours) hostess came by to see how we were enjoying our dining experience as my wife found hair on her plate lol
Robbie Burns Day at the Capilano Sawmill arranged by Miss Rosie (Manager of Capilano Sawmill). Although, we didn't make dinner reservations with the knowledge there would be "Men in Kilts", we had the pleasure of having Bruno as our competent and prompt waiter. Bruno's service was impeccable. While we dined, the "Men in Kilts" (thank you Rosie!) were eloquently piping haggis from the dining side to the lounge as several large tables were being seated, the thought does run through your mind . . . oh, oh, how is the service going to be with all the distractions? Well, I promise you Bruno does not disappoint; his attention to detail, polite query regarding the food's preparation and it's temperature then casually refreshing our drinks all while managing the other large parties. Samjay and Bruno make the dining experience feel like your dining with people much more enjoyable than family. It is evident that Rosie has what it takes to make a team and mentor the atmosphere at this establishment. I need to discuss the food we ordered the seafood and steak combo which included a choice of salad or soup and dessert. We each selected an opposite dish to try each. I ordered the baked potato soup. Seriously, this delicious concoction could quite possibly have been made in my own Grandmother's kitchen. The soup's texture, aroma, temperature and taste accompanied by sprinkles of green onion and bacon were possible why I made it through the gruelling work week just to get this soup in front of me. I could have ordered the cauldron and skipped everything else. The salad was crisp, cold and fresh with a balsamic vinaigrette to compliment the cranberries, goat cheese and walnuts. Wait! Our steak and seafood were on they're way! Grilled to perfection, savory and juicy the steak was a perfect size, accompanied by the baked potatoes (I know, I know) and butter roasted root veggies. The chocolate bread pudding made me forget the baked potato soup.
I had a business lunch meeting at the Sawmill and the staff made the experience better. They setup our group in a semi private room which allowed for great discussions. The food was amazing as always. I'm never disappointed with the quality of the food at the Sawmill.
We have dined here a number of times and always enjoy, however our last visit was not our best. We were here on Jan 14th, a Saturday night. It was fairly quite and the staff was superb, our waitress took care of our little guy for a little bit so that the parents could eat in peace for a few minutes, she kept drinks full, and was attentive. However it was the food that was a little disappointing. There were 6 of us dining. 4 ordered the prime rib, 2 of them were okay and the other 2 were WAY overdone. One person even said that it hurt to chew it was so overdone - and it was supposed to be medium-rare. My ribeye was ordered to be medium-rare, and it was very rare.. it was quite late so we did not complain at the time. I just hope next time is much better.
We hadn't been there in probably 15 years and were very surprised how good everything was. Will definitely go back.
Sanjay was our server and he was very good about accommodating our 'special' food requests. We also had a wonderful private table for old friends to get together and talk for some time. It was an awesome dining experience and I will keep coming to this particular location of the Sawmill.
Table was fantastic, right by the fireplace. Server was good, she got our sense of humour quickly.
Food was okay. Steaks were undercooked. veggies were very interesting
Sawmill at Capilano is one of our favourite Sunday Brunch venues. We decided to combine a birthday and New Years Day celebration and it did not dissappoint. We were greeted warmly by the Hostess and encouraged to participate in the celebration by wearing free hats and crowns...such fun. It was well organized and there were no long lines. The food, as usual, was excellent with a varied and tempting selection. Special mention for the delightful little lady at the Fresh Omelet station...delicious. The beef ribs and roasted root vegetables were wonderful. Our favourite Sticky Toffee Pudding was the crowning glory. Bruno, our server, was charming and engaging with us and all of his customers. We were treated to a delightful banter between Bruno and his Manager which left us impressed with their dedication to making our visit special. We enjoyed a glass of lovely champagne along with Bruno's attentive but not hovering service. We left feeling that this was a very nice start to 2017.
New Year's Day
We were there Sunday New Year's Day brunch. Very good. We were seated in the lounge instead of the dining room, kinda made us feel like we weren't good enough for the dining room. But as time went on, more people were seated in the lounge, must have been over flow..
The food was very good. Will definitely go again.
Server was obviously new. We didn't get bread or complimentary champagne New Years offering listed. She did alright but didn't know menu and couldn't offer info on meal. Ended up spilling wine when pouring and got co-worker to open the bottle. Just wasn't the service we usually have. Even still would go back again.
Couldn't ask for a better experience
From the moment we walked in the service ambience and staff was excellent. I would in a heart beat recommend it to my friends and family.
Great food and Service.
We went here for my son's birthday. The filet mignons were done to our preference and excellent. The only downside was that it seemed that the restaurant was understaffed as we had to wait quite a while to be seated and place our orders.
We were seated in the lounge, which apparently happens when you book online. I wasn't aware of this. They were short staffed, so it took a very long time to get a menu, have our order taken and receive our meals. Wait staff complained about co-workers who didn't show up for work, which, in my opinion, caused even more delay. Then the fire alarm kept going off, requiring us to leave the restaurant, returning (eventually) to cold meals. No recompense was offered for the inconvenience. I would have thought a slight discount or a free dessert would be appropriate. Altogether, it was a very unsatisfying experience.
We all had prime rib my wife who's Birthday it was both had ordered medium rare received very rare and fatty pieces of meat very disappointing!!!!..........
Normally the food is excelent, unfortunally this was not one of those times. The roast beef was very fatty and when I asked for it to be cooked a bit longer, it came back and had a very bad smell and taste to it. I'm sure I will try that disk again, and give it one last chance.
Food was good, as usual. Service seemed a little slow for a Monday.
Tables at this location are very close together. Even when seated at a booth, which would typically be fairly private, it felt as if the two of us were being joined by the two couples in the booth beside us. I could recite every word they were saying and it definitely ruined our dining experience. Also, I do not recommend ordering the Turkey Pot Pie from the Christmas Menu. It was no more than a small bowl of thick floury soup with a pastry lid for $19.00. Very disappointing and definitely not worth the price paid. The steak, of course, was top notch. Lesson learned - order steak at a steak house.
Food was great. Our server , Bruno, was fantastic
Service was great and so too was the food. Great for Sunday Brunch.
More people then expected showed up and the staff went out or their way to move another table over for the rest of our group .
Food was not cooked to what we ordered. Ordered med primerib got blue rare only took $6.00 1off. Which was not eaten. Might try the restaurant again, disappointed. Service was great
