I made a reservation about a week & a half ago when they showed up on groupon again. I got a confirmation email yesterday, asking me to confirm my reservation for today, which I did. When we arrived at the restaurant today, it was closed & locked.
I found a hair in the whipped butter my chicken cordon blue was so dry and there was no cheese in it. The rib and steak order was not very appealing. The server only came by twice once to take the order and then to bring it out. So i couldn't really communicate anything when no ones around. Im very disappointed. Ive never had a bad meal there until now and unfortunately thus woukd discourage me from going back.
Anyone who has visited this buffet in the past will be very disappointed. The food selection has been decreased, except for the dessert items which are still very good. There were no labels on the food so I had to ask what it was in the chafing dishes, and the hot items were not hot. I was disappointed in the choices, as this used to be an exceptional buffet. It was a breakfast buffet, and yet there were no bread or bagels. Charging extra for coffee on an already pricey buffet is not right. I realize that coffee is an inexpensive item for the restaurant and the mark up for customers is high, so for the company it is a big money maker, but charging for coffee on a buffet is not really the way to treat customers.
Server was overwhelmed and looks like she wasn't trained very well. She tried hard but to no avail.
The staff are always very pleasant. The restaurant is always very clean and so are the washrooms. The ambiance is nice. The food is good and the Sunday brunch selection is quite plentiful.
We had a wonderful time. Service was excellent, food amazing and we felt respected. That doesn’t happen every where. Thanks.
Enjoyable meal. Many of us ordered the Valentines special which included salad and dessert. Caesar salad was excellent. Good value especially with the loyalty program. Service could have been better but there was an engagement party close by us and this kept the waiters very busy. Will definitely return.
The food & service was very good! We had the Prime Rib.

Everything is usually good at this location. We’re close by a go there a lot.
It was a set menu for Valentines Day, so you would expect that it would take some strain off the staff.
The experience started great, but went terribly down hill at the end.
2 of us at a table for 4. Finished dishes put to the side so the waiter would have a clear indication we were done. He didn’t get it. A hostess had to grab them after 10 minutes of sitting there. She was nice enough to noticed our drinks were empty and asked if we would like another.
It seemed she was having trouble getting the waiter to understand that we wanted another drink. We could hear her repeatedly point out our table to the pint where she had to raise her voice.
Our idea was to have this last drink with our included dessert. Well that didn’t happen. After the older gentleman brought our drinks, that was the last time we had any interaction with him until we had to ask for our bill. ....20 minutes after we received our last drink.
Usually it’s a good experience, but after this experience, I don’t think it’ll be a choice for us for any special occasions anymore.
The ending pretty much wreaked what was suppose to be a nice evening out for my wife and a way for me to show how much I appreciate her.
Other than the appetizers the restaurant was a mess - the tables were dirty - the washrooms were filthy - we had to move tables 3 times - and the walls and table were still filthy
The appetizers were delish - the service was great but the meals were cold - the gravy was freezing - VERY DISAPPOINTED as it was for a 40th birthday celebration
The food was good. No beef ribs or cheese Or more salad

Our waitress was friendly and lovely, however the service time from the kitchen was unacceptable. Our appetizers took about 25 minutes, and our entrees took almost an hour and all we ordered were pasta and a beef dip sandwich. Overall not a great experience and we had to ask our waitress for our food to go, before we even got it. Will not be returning.
We went for lunch. My 2 friends had the lunch buffet which was almost inedible..
And l had a burger which was juicy but no flavour
I had gone there when it first opened for dinner and was not impressed but l thought well it’s years later

Went to the Sawmill for my wife's birthday. Have used the Capilano Mall location for lunch several times and had good experience. This time we went for dinner and were very disappointed. Meal arrived cold and the prime rib was tough and tasteless, Yorkshire pudding was overcooked. Server did get my wife a new meal but the second offering was not much better than the first and we left most of our meals on the plate. In fairness the server tried to make it right but with the quality of what came out of the kitchen there was no way to salvage the meal. Very disappointing, paid premium price for almost inedible food.
Wonderful food and ambience combined with outstanding service
Service was exemplary but I have no desire to go again. The food was average to below with the protein being the most disappointing. Have had the tomahawk steak both here and elsewhere and enjoyed it thoroughly. This time it was a disaster. We were given some off & to make up for it, a small steak but it tasted and looked like a piece of well done liver. Unfortunately, I did not understand the waiter/manager and mistook his 'don't have to leave a tip' for the unhappiness with the food. As the service itself was great, I left $50 (we had 4 messy kids) and it was not until I got home that I realized a tip had been taken automatically. double

need to put out more utensils for dessert, people were picking up desserts with their hands and then putting back, the pancakes were hard around the edges, must have been in the warmer a long time, coffee was cold. Not work $26

Have never not had an amazing time here!!! We always sit up top in a booth and we have the best server. An older European gentleman who is fantastic!
There was bag pipes being played as soon as we got there. Was very hard to hold a conversation. Our waitress was fantastic. I realize it was New Year’s Eve so the limited menu wasn’t a surprise. The cost of the meals was a bit of a surprise. Food was good. She asked for medium well but was quite bloody. Because we had theatre reservations I just switched my cordon bleu.
The New Year Eve dinner was not worth the price. Food lacked taste.
We have been going to the Sawmill every New Years for over 10 Years. The food and the service are fantastic. I have nothing negative to say. Perfection.
Server was amazing! Above and beyond on many points. The manager came by shortly after we sat down to advise that the bagpipes playing in the lounge would only go for about 15 minutes however they continued through most of our meal. Made it a little difficult to visit
I have always enjoyed the Sunday Lunch Buffet for family and friends gatherings. Unfortunately, the variety and quality of food has changed drastically. I hope that the Management will realize that it is negatively affecting their business and work towards bringing it back to the level it was in the past.
Great meal! I had pot roast with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Also really good and quiet atmosphere for conversation. We had table for 6 near the fireplace. Will definitely be back.
First we made a reservation and were place in the very top back corner. The waiter was terrible and forgetful not just to us but to all the tables around us. Took 45 min to get our first drink when they remembered we were there. We arrived at 5:30 got our first drink at 6:15, placed our order at 6:30 waiter came back at 7 said he forgot to punch our order in. He said I bring you a beer on him he brought the wrong kinda warm beer. He came back 10 min later and said u didn’t touch it did you I brought u the wrong one.Took it away and brought the right beer it was cold. If your going to run a high end restaurant you need to have high end staff. The steak was good the side dishes were cold and under cooked. I get better service at Boston Pizza. If your gonna charge the prices you do you should have people leaving raving about the place. I definitely was not impressed left disappointed.
I appreciate it’s a busy time of year but the service was poor . The waiter kept telling us he was coming back it seemed we where invisible. Got our appys about 10 mins after our main course came we were still eating appy and they left the main course as we rushed to finish the appy. Half way through the food the bread came
We quite enjoyed our experience. We did notice that our chairs were a little bit wobbly and should be fixed or replaced. The lighting was a little too dim for my liking. The food was quite good. Yorkshire pudding was a little dry but still tasty. Our server was pleasant but stretched thin. Our soda's were not refilled most likely because he had a big table but other support workers looked like they had time to help out but chose not to.
Overall it was a pleasant outing.

The food has kinda blah, it's gone a tad downhill. We came on a Monday, which is Steak & Lobster night. I did order the steak and lobster, so did 3 others at our table. It was allright, but really nothing to write home about. I guess I've come to expect MORE at the Sawmill and it just wasn't. Perhaps it was just the Capilano location? I will go back. I don't think I'll order any specials, but I also don't think I'll go to that location either.
The only reason I did not give it 5 Star (outstanding) as we had reservations for 12noon and we had to wait about 20 to 25 minutes for a table. Otherwise it was great.
Reserved a table for 6. Specifically asked for a table and they gave us a booth. When I asked for the table we reserved they said none were available but we could wait as one would be ready soon. After 20 minutes the manger came to tell us there was not a table available and offered us free appetizers. There seemed to be no communication between the wait staff and the front end staff. Promised drinks either didn't show up or were wrong. The buns showed up after the appetizers and there were 4 for a party of six. Two more showed up on a plate 10 minutes later. My medium rare steak was rare. I mean the food wasn't terrible but I have certainly had better. The Keg does a much better job and will be getting my money next time. No attention to detail or feeling of being served.
The buffet was very enjoyable. Fast when you have a limited lunch time. thank you.
