We received an email the day of our reservation that it couldn't be honored because the restaurant had closed. So disappointed as it's one of our favorites! (Ratings based on prior experiences.)
Regrettably, this restaurant is closing for dinner and change=ing to another format.
This was our second time at Savory Square Bistro and we enjoyed it very much, from the drinks (a blueberry martini which was very interesting), the charcuterie board and the entrees (Shrimp Scampi, Chicken Bacon Dijon, Norwegian Salmon Pasta). Topped off by a creme brûlée which we shared. The wine list is reasonable and we enjoyed a NY Riesling which rivaled many a German one. The prices are reasonable and we would go back any time.
We were disappointed with the food. The beet and goat cheese salad had a bare scant of cheese. The Cesar and scallop salad had two large scallops that were not cooked enough in the center. The asparagus tart was boursin cheese spread over a couple of pieces of puff pastry, then a few pieces of asparagus dropped on top.
Have not been in a while and what a mistake! So cozy, delicious food, attentive service. a great hide away right under your nose.
Excellent restaurant. A hidden gem. Food is wonderful. Small quiet atmosphere. Very good service.
Did not know what to expect but exceeded our expectations
We enjoy this place as it is quiet, has great food and the service is outstanding. We went with friends this night and we had a great time.We all enjoyed what we ordered. I had the Steak au poivre with frittes and broccoli and the steak was tender and cooked just as ordered. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys quiet meals and good food.
Dinner was excellent in every respect. Service was attentive but unrushed. Cocktails were just right. A great place to eat!
There were 2 in my party, the other being at SSB for the first time. He REALLY enjoyed it and even mentioned returning before September. The food was fab and the waiter was great. We were NOT rushed thereby we could enjoy our appetizer, drinks and chat as we needed to catch up.
In the past when I've sat AT the bar, I found it very hard to "eat my meal" there, as had to sit sideways on the bar stool. There doesn't seem to be much knee space when sitting there, but would definitely stop in for drinks and not hesitate to sit at the bar. Otherwise, we just grab a table in the lounge to listen to the entertainment.
A VERY nice place in the center of Hampton.
Started with the red Sangria & the beer flight; very nice.
We shared the crab cakes. Excellent appetizer! Crispy & full of crabmeat.
One had fish & chips & one had the beef tenderloin sandwich; recommend both. Fish was done to perfection and fries were delicious. Tenderloin was fork tender in a tasty gravy.
Our only regret was the mango crepe for dessert. Some mango pieces were hard & underripe, and there was hardly any juice in this dish. We would have liked more juice and more ripe fruit. Came with a nice fresh whipped cream and a sprig of mint...nice touch.
Service was friendly, knowledgeable and speedy.
We will be back soon.
A wonderful anniversary experience. We were seated at a cozy corner table and greeted nicely by the owner and staff. We sampled a number of items including the calamari, poutine, grilled BLT salad and steak au poivre and were blown away by the quality and flavor. Service and cocktails were top notch and we were even given complimentary champagne for our special day with glasses to take home. A truly great meal and experience... We'll be back soon!
My husband and I love this restaurant so we chose it for my birthday. It did not disappoint. The wine selection is finely tuned. The menu selection is reminiscent of gourmet meets French bistro. It has the classics with a creative twist. This restaurant is exceptional for cuisine. The service was very attentive and friendly by all staff. Perfection is in the details here. The staff went beyond expectation and also gifted me with three small jars of their exceptional condiments just because it was my birthday. We will be back over and over again.
we enjoyed our meal and our waitress was very accommodating.
This is a great neighborhood spot many locals go to. Great at the bar as well with music on the weekends. Our food was excellent however the service was a bit slow. It did not really matter as we had no where to go and great company and conversation
Excellent! From the staff to the food. I had steak au poive. Very tasty.
A positive experience at the Bistro. The service was excellent and efficient and the entrees did not disappoint. Although my wife suggested the risotto was a bit too cheesy, my steak was cooked to order and very good. The fries with the steak suggested informality however they were good. Will certainly return.
Visit very often during summer months. Always with friends, and have never been disappointed. Food is freshly made, always good flavors and a generous serving. A favorite is Seafood Portifino! Entertainment in the lounge is fun too! Look forward to the next visit!
This was my third visit and it was wonderful as were the other two times. It is truly a hidden gem.
I had been to Savory Bistro a couple of years ago and it was very good. We were the only ones in the dining room on a Saturday night 6:45 PM and no one came in after us. The bar had a good crowd and the music was very good that we could hear. I will not be going back.
We used to go to the Beach House which was always good owned by the same people.
We found this hidden gem via Open Table. Where it was Mother's Day we were looking for a restaurant in the area that we would be in that would take a reservation. We were not disappointed!
The service from reservations through dinner was outstanding. The overall management of the reservations was also terrific because we went from apps to dessert without feeling rushed.
The choice of craft cocktails was pleasing, as well as the specials that were offered. The dinner selections were truly well designed and we are a foodie crowd who enjoys our options.
All of our meals were outstanding and did not disappoint either.
We truly enjoyed our experience and only wish that this was an option to stop by for a summer lunch/cocktails/appetizers....we will definitely be back for dinner!!!
The chef Patty is one of the nicest people we have met...She came out several times to check on us due to our special dietary needs and adapted the menu for gluten free, paleo, wild caught seafood, and alcohol free dishes that were still delicious. The portions were huge...we had gluten free fried calamari, baked crusted haddock with pea purée and a tinge of pesto, and huge sea scallops with cheesy risotto...the risotto was truly special...The flour less chocolate torte was too sweet and could have been better if made with higher quality chocolate or cacao. Our server in the bar area high top table was also very friendly and worked cooperatively with the chef. Thanks, Patty.
Always have enjoyed the food but the service at the bar was just not like it was new staff apparently who were quite overwhelmed .
Service very attentive. Food good. Wine list good but in transition so many items out of stock. After our 4th choice not available the owner offered more expensive option for same price - good solution. They should bring on the new wines now before the old are all ran out.
Hope they keep a good selection of French wines in the new lineup.
We frequent this restaurant often. The food has gone up and down but that seems to be related to whether or not Ron is actively involved. Ron is back right now and the food was spectacular!
Really good cuisine. Great server! Would make this a regular stop.
My wife and I had dinner at Savory Square Bistro last week. It is in an old building, and a little hard to find. However, it is well worth the search. The unassuming building and dining room are quaint with few tables. The decor is old, but the ambiance is warm and inviting. The wine list is adequate with plenty of good choices.
The menu is certainly French-leaning, but has plenty to choose from. Our waitress was pleasant, attentive, and very knowledgeable. All of our food selections were excellent, and with creative presentation. We also had dessert, and were not disappointed.
This restaurant is well worth the trip!
This restaurant is awesome. The food is incredibly delicious, and the atmosphere is good for birthdays and anniversaries. Not a place for children though - expensive, with a quiet dinning room. Service is a little slow, which means they are never rushing you to finish.
Seated in the back by the exit door which was drafty. Main waitress mediocre but trainee very attentive & a delight. "Escargots en crute" in a soggy piece of baguette, not at all appetizing. Seafood chowder mushy, Mariner's platter ok. Duck l'orange, no crispy skin, supposed to have Brussell sprouts had a asperagras instead(not even told it would be substituted) a thimbleful of rice. Dessert-- had to wait a long time. Was told the apple crisp had to be warmed up. When my husband tasted it, he said it was cold in the middle. My crime brûlée was ok but the top was hardly carmelized, blueberry compote was a tasty topping. This was a first wedding anniversary dinner for us. I do have a $25 gift certificate if I spend $50. But I don't think we'd like to go back again. Being French myself I would have liked to see a sampling of cheeses. Oh well...
The bistro is absolutely our favorite restaurant in the Hampton area. My wife and I go there together, we bring friends, we bring customers, it's just perfect for all occasions. The food is awesome, the people are awesome, it's just an all-around great place for dinner.
Always great food and excellent service. The menu has a good mix of creatively prepared dishes.
The wait staff was light thus the normal level of service was lacking. HOWEVER, the food, as always, was outstanding.
This is the second time we have been here. The food is delicious, love the quiet quaint atmosphere and exceptional service. Highly recommend!
Had a nice dinner. The food is always good and the chef made some suggestions for my date who is vegitarian. We made an early reservation so we could take our time. It took a few discussions with our waiter for him to appreciate our plans but it was fine for a Thursday as the dining room was not overly busy.
We would recommend Savory Square Bistro for good food and quiet atmosphere in the dining room. The bar is great, lively and has access to the same menu. Enjoy!
Fabulous! The food was so tasty and staff pleasant. Nice time was had by all.
A lovely little French bistro. Great atmosphere: warm lighting, great music. Attentive, professional, unobtrusive service. The calamari app was a disappointment; thinly sliced rings, no tentacles. The mussels app was a revelation; the most delicious I've ever had. Fresh mussels over baby spinach wilted by a light and flavorful cream sauce. Crab cakes were good. Seafood porto fino boasted huge shrimp and scallops in a cream sauce. Better calamari and the meal would have been perfect.
Went here to celebrate our anniversary. Chose a table in the bar area, dining room is quieter but we like the fireplace in the bar. Crab cakes were delish and looked pretty, too. $5 Margaritas were the special so we indulged. When the server found out we were celebrating our anniversary she offered champagne and 2 glasses to take home. Dinner was baked stuffed haddock and a beef tenderloin steak sandwich, both done perfectly. Finished with lemon lust dessert, perfect! We will go back!
Had an absolutely fantastic meal here. From oysters Rockefeller, a wonderful mushroom ragout, and scallops risotto - paired with a great spanish wine (2012 Gran Papa Monastrell)- incredible use of ingredients, amazing flavors. Clearly a very talented and skilled chef here. We will definitely be going back!! What an incredible find, cozy place with a great culinary experience. Attached bar (separate room, noise isolated) we didn't go into but was certainly hoppin' with live music etc, if that is your scene.
Very delicious. I would highly recommend you to others.
First night for the waitress - she will need a little more training.
