Savor Ratings and Reviews
Setting is wonderful, the pavilion is absolutely first class, but the food was not the highest quality. The lobster starter was good but my Quinoa salad had very few apple slices and the once it had were all dry. Overall lacked dressing and the dressing was flavorless.
The quantity of salad was excessive; would have preferred a better prepared dish but not so large.
I like Savor and want to give them benefit of the doubt but....the service was horrendous. To such a point that we had to find our own water and clear some of our own plates. And the food was over spiced and some had undercooked fish dishes.
The manager tried to make it right, but it good conscious I can't recommend anyone dine here. At least not on Sunday evening
The venue is beautiful, but not kept clean. The tables are wobbly, but our waitress fixed it. Service is perfunctory, not friendly. The floor was dirty. The backs of the leather chairs were blackened with grime. The food was atrocious. The short rib grilled cheese was dripping in orange grease, there was a hair in the tasteless apple slaw, the shrimp salad sandwich was limp greens and a few shrimp soaked in mayonnaise on a stale slice of pumpernickel. The lobster puffs were good, but were sitting in a slime of jarred mustard. The soup was from a can. Will not return.
Savor is really, really cool spot to sit down and do some downtown people watching. The location right on Klyde Warren Park is very unique. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Having worked in restaurants for years in the past, I rarely complain (like maybe once in the last 5 years) but I had to say something about the chicken in the fried chicken salad I ordered. The fried chicken had obviously been cut up and left sitting under a heat lamp for some time before being served. The cut side of the chicken was slightly brown and very dry instead of being white and juicy. I couldn't eat it because I knew it was old. Also, I was seated near the kitchen and spotted the same salad I ordered go out to another table and I can tell you, my chicken was definitely not served correctly compared to how delicious that other salad looked. I ate the rest of the salad (which was good) and told the waiter that I couldn't eat the chicken. He was very nice and took care of the entire salad. However, a manager never stopped by the table to apologize. I'm fine paying $17 for a fresh chicken salad, but there were enough people working in that kitchen that someone should have noticed and stopped the salad with old chicken from ever getting to my table. Having worked in restaurants, I know a manager should have been notified and should have visited the table. Don't expect to get what you pay for at Savor. Stick with drinks at Savor and grab lunch or dinner across the street.
This is my 3rd time visiting Savor. 2nd time for Brunch. First, we were seated at a very tiny table when the restaurant was empty (only one other couple in the restaurant). We were accommodated when we asked to move to a booth. We started with the Red Velvet bun and Calamari appetizer dishes. Both were very good. Our cocktails were also good. However, I was not too pleased with my entree, the Salad Nicoise. It was very oily overall, but no seasoning. I usually do not salt my food, but had to add a significant amount to this dish to make it palatable. Our server never asked if we wanted dessert and just brought the check. This always irritates me, because it is as though they are done with me and don't want any more of my money. Otherwise, not good/not bad. I will not rush to come back, but might if a friend invites me. My expectations at this place are pretty low, though. I still refer friends to Lark, which is just across the street.
The food is good and the location is great. I have been there a few times and in all occasions they seemed understaffed. Staff members from the greeter to the person who brought our food appeared to be in a bad mood and were not very polite (I've been served by the same lady twice). Considering the location and the fact that the restaurant is on the park it is surprising that the atmosphere isn't very lively.
We had reservations for 6 pm, but we were not seated until 6:28 pm. So not really happy about that. Our waitress, however, was great--once we told her that we had tickets to a show, she made sure we got our food quickly. We were celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday, so I thought they might give her a small dessert for free, but they didn't, which was disappointing because the value they would get back in customer appreciation would seem to outweigh any cost. Overall, the location--right in Klyde Warren park--is the best part of the restaurant.
Beautiful restaurant and location right in Klyde Warren Park. The food is on the pricey side for what you get. It was average at best. The service is horrible. At ever table on the patio people were complaining about slow waiters, no waiters, forgotten orders, no silverware, wrong checks, you name it, it was a mess. The attitude of everyone working there was as if they didn't want to be there. The manager came out to one table and tried to fix a forgotten order issue but he looked like he really didn't care either. They need new management that can properly hire and train staff to work in what is supposed to be a higher end, "chef driven" spot. I would tell everyone not to go there. To top off the long afternoon, the valet lost our car keys!
I've always loved Savor. It's comfortable, yet in a park. The scenery being downtown is very nice! The food is excellent! We got their hummus plate and biscuits & gravy and it's better than most "southern" restaurants I've been to! Awesome job all around. I will continue to support this place.
The food is good, but the service was terrible. We were celebrating my daughter's 10th birthday and our server was rude, disinterested and annoyed from start to finish. She did not smile once or tell us her name. Additionally, I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara without onions for my daughter. The dish came full of onions. I spent over 5 minutes picking the onions out of her dish and our server pretended to not notice. I eat out a lot and this was the worst service I have had in years. I will add that the restaurant was almost empty, so it was not as if they were really busy and struggling to accommodate a crowd. It is unclear if our server didn't want to be at work or didn't want to serve our table but it does not matter as I will not return for business or pleasure.
Food was good not great Presentation was horrible My wife's entree vegetables were just scooped on the plate Literally looked like a ball and tasted as such sadly Her Salmon was very tasty. My steak was over cooked. Bone Marrow was excellent. Water glass was not filled after repeated requests. Valet dissapeared for 15 min Will not go back
Great atmosphere! The view of the park and downtown combined with great food and a wonderful wine list makes for a truly exceptional experience. I grew up in Dallas and remember the days when downtown was mainly for tourists(except for the occasional pop-in to Deep Ellum/Greenville), not anymore!!!
We celebrated a birthday on Saturday night. It was fantastic from start to finish. Our server, Darcy, was very knowledgeable about the menu selections and she took very good care of us. The wine, appetizer, salad, both of our entrees, dessert, Baileys and coffee, all were exceptional. We can't wait to go back!!
