Service is very good. Great variety of food on menu. Decor needs updating
Service was uneven. They forgot things like checking us into Opentable, cutlery etc.
During the week this is a quiet restaurant. The calamari appetizer is outstanding. The wine prices are reasonable. Everyone's dinner was very good.
Customer service was great and it was quiet and peaceful as well!! Entrees was great appetizer’s could have a better selection. Overall definitely good all around.
Food was great. Unable to sit where we wanted even though there were open tables. Offered table near walkway to kitchen and bathrooms. We declined and were seated in a corner. Then it took 10 minutes to get water. Waiter apologized saying they were busy but it was clear they were short staffed. This is the only time this has happened at this restaurant. Hope it doesn’t happen again.
Enjoyed a wonderful Rigatoni with a white wine & mushroom sauce. Savio's had a diverse selection of house wines to complement their entrees. i am looking forward to mt next visit.
Food was great and authentic, but like other reviews, the services was slow and bad.
An unassuming gem in an Alexandria plaza! It may be easy to drive right by this neighborhood gem, but please don't! The food at Savio's absolutely incredible, with a variety of fresh, authentic Italian dishes. The fireplace makes a cozy, inviting atmosphere, and this has become my new "go-to" spot for an outstanding Italian meal at an incredible value.
The food was okay. Cooked fine, but very bland. The service was fine, as was ambiance, too bad the food was boring.
One of my favorite restaurants. Service is always friendly and attentive, food and wine is always delicious!
A group of us were dining with children and there are certain accommodations I expect from a restaurant that caters to families that Savio’s did not have. For example, they had no kid-friendly cups and the menu of kid-friendly food items was very limited. Also, they sat us in the back of the restaurant on one side away from the other guests—which indicates that families are not common/welcome—but besides that, it was positively freezing.
I love Savio's. I've been coming here since they opened many years ago. I go here often for the Linquine Agnello, a spicy lamb pasta, and you can't go wrong with a veal dish or rack of lamb, when they have it as a special. lt is the romantic little Italian place you can bring your date, knowing that you will still have money in your budget. Desserts are great, too, but never have room.
The food is great. I have eaten here many times over a number of years. The service is very good. It is one of my favorite places for dining on special occasions.
We had a great meal of stuffed salmon and spinach tortellini with shrimp. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming of my infant. We will be back.
I hadn't been in about a decade and won't return
There was really nothing redeeming after the bread. The service was slow throughout despite being fairly empty on a Sunday evening
5 of us ordered different dishes. The spaghetti with meat sauce for good reviews. The other 4 of us were disappointed with the taste of the food
The food was very good (Italian), nice cozy atmosphere and excellent service.
The food is excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful as well. This is a neighborhood gem!
The servers noticed my friend and I were deep in conversation and ergo let us stay significantly after paying the check!
Food was good but not exceptional. Delivery of food was incredibly slow with only three other couples in the restaurant. This was a kitchen problem as the server was good. Not sure why this was so highly rated.
We had a nice time and most of the food was great. Service was very kind and we thought it odd that the place was so empty. Yes, in a shopping center, and although nice inside, I would strongly suggest some attention to the ceiling panel stains. We had the rigatoni and pizza. Both delicious! The bruschetta and bread basket were mediocre. The tiramisu was just wrong. It tasted like a nutmeg cake was used instead of lady fingers which also overpowered any chance of coffee liqueur or cocoa flavor- the reason to get tiramisu! So overall, great entrees... steering clear of the rest.
The outside of the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. However, once inside, you walk into an overly-decorated, almost old-fashioned, restaurant that is comforting in its dated furnishings. I loved the bar, the small tables, the ambiance. Our reservation was for 5pm so the dining areas were almost empty, but you could imagine the wonderful atmosphere that it would have when full. The service was impeccable, not always the case even when business is slow in the afternoon. The food was very good and came out quickly, but not too fast. The carrot cake was to die for. All in all, would definitely recommend this restaurant as a change to the modern, sterile ones cropping up all over. Enjoy the ambiance and the service - they are a dying art.
This place didn't look like much from the outside, but once you're inside it's quite a shocking difference. Great cozy place with awesome decor. I've been missing having a local Italian place since moving to Alexandria, and now I've found what I've been looking for. The service was outstanding and the food was great. We will definitely be back.
Authentic delicious Italian. Hidden gem in the areA!
Nothing wrong at visit. Food, service, ambiance, price was all fine. Nothing to write home about. Fine place for Italian food. But since I only get to go out once a month or less, I probably would not return.
Nice decor, soups tasty but sauces overpowered entrée
Spur of the minute dinner with roomate...we both wanted Italian and they did not disappoint. Will be visiting again as it is only a few minutes away. Excellent veal parm with steamed veggies.
Very authentic Italian food! This is our second time here and we will be back for more!
First time at Savio's - food was good, especially the bread with cheese sauce starter! We enjoyed the evening and the restaurant was very patient with our table - we were there for hours. Definitely recommend and look forward to our next visit.
Very basic dish. Very tasty.
We have been coming to Savio's for about 20 years. We love the special for two which includes a bottle of wine. Staff is always courteous and efficient. We wish they had an outdoor area, but they are nicely decorated.
Went there because of the high rating in open table. The food was much below average. The waitress was rude and seemed annoyed all the time. Oh, and don't ask for extra cheese; she will give you a nasty look. We'll never go back.
This place is definitely a hidden gem! Service was superior and the food was beyond words as it was so AMAZING! I was skeptical as I have lived in the area for over 30 years and never knew this place existed. The fact that it is in a strip mall does not do it justice as when you walk into the restaurant you feel at home and then decor is authentic and superb! We will definitely be going back. We didn't have to ask for anything as our server was spot on with refills and was very pleasurable.
The food here is great and the atmosphere is nice, except for the nights when the band is blaring so loud you can't hear yourself think. Service is spotty. You are always going to have to ask for refills which is a pet peeve in my book. Still, the food is very good and it's a nice place to go for great Italian food.
From the time we entered the restaurant, the service was excellent. The food was delicious and the wine list for a neighborhood gem was perfect. We’ll come again.
I returned to Savio's after being away for several years and was terribly disappointed. My family and I had eaten there many times, because it used to serve reliably good Italian food. Not anymore. The kitchen apparently has changed, as has the quality of service. The food is barely edible now, and in retrospect I should have left it on the table and walked out. Consider this: a dry (no dressing) plate of lettuce loaded with grated cheese (supposed to be a Caesar Salad!). When I asked the waiter for the dressing, he brought a thick pasty gopp of stuff, which tasted like salty glue! I used plain olive oil from the table instead. Neither the chef nor the waiter seem to know the difference between pasta fagioli (which I ordered) and minestrone (which I received). When I told the waiter there must have been a mistake, since what they served was clearly NOT pasta fagioli, he took a spoon and poked around in the bowl and exclaimed "oh, there's a piece of pasta, and a bean". Seriously?! The ravioli with sausage was equally awful -- it tasted like leftover stuff that had been reheated a few times. Even the dessert (lemon cake) had a disgusting taste. Needless to say, I couldn't eat all that stuff, but since the waiter didn't seem to be interested in resolving the issue, and I wasn't in the mood for an argument, I decided at least to warn other people not to go there. A total waste of time and money, not to mention the memory of a disgusting meal!
We decided to try this place only because it was close to where we were and it was also open on Christmas Day. Much to our delight, this place is actually pretty good! The food tastes very authentic and the sodium level was very low which is always a plus for me. We will go back again!
Had absolutely no idea this restaurant was here. NEVER judge a book by it's cover. Walked in and was immediately transported to another place (Italy perhaps?!) and was shocked by the transformation. What shocked my family even more was the food. Fantastic and our new favorite restaurant closest to our house!
Food and entertainment were great! Could improve on the quality of iced tea. Nice selection of deserts. Liked being able to see deserts while deciding what to get.
Nice find. Was a little unsure going in as it's dated and Ina strip mall. Food was very very good! Service and staff were friendly as well. Will certainly go back when in the area. No complaints.
